This is genuinely amazing, and *SO* accurate! I see strong influence from Final Fantasy, Super Mario RPG, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, and funnily enough, a lot of tropes etc which would've been in the RPG that *I* always wanted to create.

Fucking Omega and Shinryuu from FF5. Fuck those bosses. There's also a bonus dungeon in the GBA version of FF5 that has even harder versions of Shinryuu and Omega and on the way to Super Omega, you had to fight through a room of like 7 fucking Omegas. Canonically though, they were apparently more powerful than Exdeath to the point where the previous heroes were like "Fuck that shit, it can stay in the void"

So far as I know, Tales of Xillia 2 is the *only* "Tales of" game with a silent protagonist. I could be wrong on that, though- I haven't played all of them. I know for a fact that Symphonia, Dawn of the New Age, Graces, Xillia 1, and Zestiria all have talking heroes. Disgaea isn't known for silent protagonists, either. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Laharl, Mao, and sometimes Valvatorez are actually _very loud._ In Megaman X Command Mission, X is just as talkative as everyone else during cutscenes and battles. No two ways about it, Lan and Megaman.exe are full of personality in the Megaman Battle Network games, and even chat with each other at the push of a button. Same for Geo and Omega-Xis in Megaman Starforce. I may not know much about it, but I think only about _half_ of the Fire Emblem series relies on mute heroes...

Noticing some specific references to Squaresoft RPGs here, specifically Final Fantasy VI and VII: - The intro: Many early Final Fantasy games had a "Magic Crystal" as a plot device, plus the "Magic Wars" are clearly a reference to the one that was mentioned in Final Fantasy VI - The Inciting Incident Festival: Chrono Trigger's Millennium Festival - The Technologically Advanced Empire that attacks and has a giant airship: Literally Final Fantasy VI's plot (up until Kefka becomes a god) - The Sexy Henchman: Kefka from Final Fantasy VI - The Purple Cat that can talk: Red XIII from Final Fantasy VII - And of course, the final boss is literally every Final Fantasy final boss, specifically FFII's Emperor, FFVI's Kefka, and FFVII's Safer Sephiroth (who despite the name is NOT safe at all).

The magic crystal intro also fits with some of the Mana games. Technologically advanced empire is also FF12 and FF14 and in a sense FF9 and FF10 too. The purple cat that can talk could also have been Cait Sith or Luna from Sailor Moon. Sexy henchman who's also the final boss: Kuja from FF9. All of the tropes they mentioned were used multiple times in multiple games.

Eternal Sonata has technically a boss with 1 phase, but if you take a BOSS as the end of the game and not just the battle with one individual, you can count it as 2 phases.

Missed the secret boss that should be canonically weaker than the literal planet-busting final boss but somehow manages to kick your ass 3 million times without even breaking a sweat
Fucking Omega and Shinryuu from FF5. Fuck those bosses. There's also a bonus dungeon in the GBA version of FF5 that has even harder versions of Shinryuu and Omega and on the way to Super Omega, you had to fight through a room of like 7 fucking Omegas. Canonically though, they were apparently more powerful than Exdeath to the point where the previous heroes were like "Fuck that shit, it can stay in the void"

......Same gameplay.......overused mechanics.......Glichy broken gameplay and world ....tons of repeated milked side quests (quantity over quality) Something about an ugly looking king........boring robotic characters with uninteresting repetitive stories about where did i put that book find it and i'll make it worthy (rewards rock or a bone with like 8 pieces of gold)...or please deliver this message to her because i'm restarted......every WRPG ever! but again only when you posses such a poor taste you'd enjoy such a crappy poorly made games......hehe
The WerewolfF I can only think of the Witcher series, Mass Effect series and Dragon Age 2/Inquisition though. The rest of the RPGs aren't worth mentioning/don't have an actual protagonist who can speak.
DAO still blows any of theother Dragon age series right out of the water.
So far as I know, Tales of Xillia 2 is the *only* "Tales of" game with a silent protagonist. I could be wrong on that, though- I haven't played all of them. I know for a fact that Symphonia, Dawn of the New Age, Graces, Xillia 1, and Zestiria all have talking heroes. Disgaea isn't known for silent protagonists, either. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that Laharl, Mao, and sometimes Valvatorez are actually _very loud._ In Megaman X Command Mission, X is just as talkative as everyone else during cutscenes and battles. No two ways about it, Lan and Megaman.exe are full of personality in the Megaman Battle Network games, and even chat with each other at the push of a button. Same for Geo and Omega-Xis in Megaman Starforce. I may not know much about it, but I think only about _half_ of the Fire Emblem series relies on mute heroes...
I've finally worked out what this video was missing: slimes and frogs. Other than that, it had everything.

i mean if you count the Epic Battle Fantasy series as a jrpg then there's that.
Mardek is a great game in 3 installments. It's both a great classic RPG and its own parody full of 4th wall breaks, self-aware dialogues and cliché tropes played for laughs. I enjoy it a lot.

joshua kim It often happens at any game with a "final boss" actually, really. Think of most Castlevania games (that predate metroidvania), Goemon games, Mega Man and so on. And there are many JRPGs with a single-form final boss, too. But yeah, lmao, it's on point for many. :p

Even though this seems like a 100% cliché story, with unrealistic and pointless dialogs. It is still interesting because it has all the necessary ingredients for a good conflict.
There needs to be like 25 more plot twists within the first hour.

Noticing some specific references to Squaresoft RPGs here, specifically Final Fantasy VI and VII: - The intro: Many early Final Fantasy games had a "Magic Crystal" as a plot device, plus the "Magic Wars" are clearly a reference to the one that was mentioned in Final Fantasy VI - The Inciting Incident Festival: Chrono Trigger's Millennium Festival - The Technologically Advanced Empire that attacks and has a giant airship: Literally Final Fantasy VI's plot (up until Kefka becomes a god) - The Sexy Henchman: Kefka from Final Fantasy VI - The Purple Cat that can talk: Red XIII from Final Fantasy VII - And of course, the final boss is literally every Final Fantasy final boss, specifically FFII's Emperor, FFVI's Kefka, and FFVII's Safer Sephiroth (who despite the name is NOT safe at all).

The magic crystal intro also fits with some of the Mana games. Technologically advanced empire is also FF12 and FF14 and in a sense FF9 and FF10 too. The purple cat that can talk could also have been Cait Sith or Luna from Sailor Moon. Sexy henchman who's also the final boss: Kuja from FF9. All of the tropes they mentioned were used multiple times in multiple games.

Wild Arms 1 also had an Inciting Incident Festival, and a tomboy in your party that was secretly a princess, FFV also features a secret princess as a party member, not to mention Marle in CT.
