  • Man, Jones was so good. He had to do some very key and hard defenses, and he deserved that shutout. Also, who would say that the Leafs would play this well defensively against one of the best defensive teams in the league at the moment? Hope the team keeps it up, because that was a very physical game and the buds kept it up. Hope Benoit didn't get his hand too hurt and comes back no problem. He has been super good, solid and a good addition to the defense of the team. Ggs Kings

    • Now, the Leafs *were* great defensively, but LA didn’t want this game at all. They are horrendous at home. I’m sure they don’t have the worst home record, but in terms of on-ice play, I’d say they’re the worst. Never really challenged Toronto at all. The Leafs deserved this win every step of the way.

    • Remember, its the Leafs. They beat the good teams and lose to the bad teams. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if they lost to Anaheim and San Jose.

    • I actually predicted the Leafs would win, mostly because usually what the Leafs do makes no sense. How will they handle the back-to-backs against Anaheim and San Jose? Which is more Leafy? Losing to San Jose but perhaps beating an improved Anaheim team? Losing both? Or suddenly going 3-0 in California? Nylander looked like himself again. Even the top line despite not scoring were dangerous.

    • Highly unlikely Jones is the starter for the playoffs unless he plays like this every night and Woll comes back playing noticeably worse than his first 15 (where he put in a top 10 performance at the time of his 15th start). That said a dependable backup is a huge plus and allows the team to have some more confidence. Hope to see Hildeby tomorrow. It's a back to back and they won this game so I see no reason not to give the kid a shot, just to see how he does. Against the Ducks too, debatably one of the worst in the league so if he's a bit shaky getting started they should be okay.

    • I'm actually getting tired of Nylander. I get that it's his contract year but he shoots often when he should pass, just to get his numbers up to get a better contract. More often then not he doesn't score, so pass it to someone that can. Just like every break,the lead guy is always Nylander because he doesn't help on the d side like every other player does. He hates around the blue line or center I've waiting for a pass. I've seen him helping out once in many, many games. He's competing with Matthews for number 1 spot, which doesn't help the team overall.

      @jeffreycairns767@jeffreycairns7674 ай бұрын
    • @@jeffreycairns767 Hard disagree on this one. Nylander used to pass so much and started shooting more last season. Since then you can also clearly see the improvement in his goal scoring.

      @oskforalltid@oskforalltid4 ай бұрын
    • @@oskforalltid I get that but he often has a man open but will take the shot anyways despite the fact that 1. It rarely hits the net, and 2. They often lose possession. Matthews can be just as much of a hog but atleast he scores alot and his defensive play is leaps and bounds above Nylander's. Tonight's 6 on 4/5 is the first time I've seen Nylander actually doing something if value in his own end. He's usually just skating around as close to center as possible, while still technically in his own end, wait for a pass to break out. Anytime you see 1 Leaf ahead of the rest, it's always Nylander, and it's not because he's that fast. I'm not saying he's not good but his contract seems to be clouding his judgement quite often. If he can keep his points up high, especially his goals, he can demand atleast what Marner is getting despite the fact he's not the same kind of player and is not worth that. The closer he gets to a new contract the better player he becomes, but look what happened last time. They don't need that again. If I were Tre, I'd be seeing what he's actually looking for. If it's too high, I'd be looking into trading him for a nice return.

Nylander should get quite abit more than Marner if it was based on TRUE value. but Marner is so incredibly overpaid that it's probably not gonna happen. I'd argue right now that Nylander is actually the nr 1 of the leafs and not Matthews. Matthews still scores goals but Nylander is legit magic on ice every night almost. If i had only had enough money to pay to see ONE player play, i'd pay to see Nylander ahead of any other Leafs player.@@jeffreycairns767

I think in about 3 years all teams will abandon their shiny helmets, and then people will look back on clips from this brief "shiny helmet" era and laugh at how stupid they looked 😀
