Dave Chappelle "Comic Strip Live" (2/27/09) AUDIO RESTORED
I wanted to check out this epic four hour set by Dave Chappelle but the buzzy noise audio was unbearable. I decided to do some restoration for my own personal listening. It worked out well so I thought I would share it. Lots of great content over at the Comic Strip Live KZhead page. Subscribe to them today! / @comicstriplive

    • Chappelle is a GD'd LEGEND...he mever fails to lift me up & put a genuine smile on my face. I REALLY need that sometimes... This is the set where he didn't have cigarettes, so a lady gave him hers (they didn't want him to leave the set he was "crashing", including the slotted comic, lol) & he "included" her as part of his act so she could smoke inside in the crowd too, isn't it? • Almost two decades ago, I was at a New York comedy cellar and the surprise guest was Chris rock, and everyone started screaming. He practiced his bit with us a bit and it was lukewarm, but THEN he said he had another surprise and it was Dave Chapelle. Dave did the thing he did here-sat down, lit a cigarette and started telling stories and engaging with the audience. He was light-years funnier than Chris on this night. About half way through it, and by half way I mean an hour and a half in, when we’d been there for FOUR HOURS because of the original comedy show, then Chris, THEN Dave, my then partner and I had to get up and go home. Dave yelled out to us, “hey! Where you going???” And my bf said “back to her place.” And Dave goes “awwww yeah.” Everyone laughed. Never forgot it and I didn’t even appreciate then how smart he was because I was just out of school. Dave Chapelle is a treasure and a profoundly deep thinker. Appreciate him forever.

    @joseross3364@joseross33644 жыл бұрын
    • Jose Ross and still got “assassinated” and or replaced. Like he said America creates an environment where dissenters are needed and when they come out they’re killed then we celebrate them. Seems now they found a way to do it in a sneaky way where we think the real ones are still speaking to us when in our heart we know. There gone. His cousin went on radio to tell everyone he was gone, that he was dead that his family was cloned and everyone dismissed her as crazy. Now she’s dead. Truth is dangerous in this country and he along with many others sacrificed their lives to wake us up. We should be grateful for these people for they knew what was coming for trying to help us. Those they reached could list the ones who tried to get us the truth but were killed or “cloned” like Eminem, Gucci Mayne, Kanye West, Bernie Mac just to barely name a few. It’s a strange time we’re in right now in America

If you have ever experienced the NYC comedy scene you would understand that whatever was going on this night was “way out of the norm.” He keeps talking to Sherod who is Sherrod Small who was probably the MC that night. Dave is riffing… i’ve seen him many times… but never like this. It was the height of his fame so they probably just didn’t give an “f”… but seriously just so amazing this was preserved. • Dave is the G.O.A.T. There have been comedians that are close as funny as Chappelle, but only a select few have had the insight and intelligence that separates him. Even fewer have done it all while trying to keep an underlying message that is kindhearted and positive. He does this all without compromising his faith beliefs and morals. On top of it all, his comedy isn't watered down by his "morals of the story" it is actually enhanced. Richard Pryor was also a master at this, and was the GOAT, but like Brady surpassed one of his heroes in Joe Montana, Dave has slid past Pryor as the Greatest of all time...

  • Who does 4 whole hours of unwritten, improvisational material, that's this poised, intelligent, gripping, hilarious, demanding, and poignant, with ZERO prompts. His opinions are educated and diplomatic. He dresses everything in eloquent slapstick comedy, strictly to make it more palatable for his audiences. He makes clear standpoints and asks for zero forgiveness for it. He's enthralling. It's absolutely impossible not to have unfettered respect for this guy. I'll never stop being impressed with his unapologetic, and incredible capabilities, regardless if I agree with his standpoints or not. Such a completely unique talent. He's one in a lifetime.

    • I've been here before with a headline comedian. Buy tickets for the last show on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday and you might be in your chair for 5 hours. My situation was with Eddie Griffin. He was hilarious from start to finish. But he doesn't have a schedule. Things wait for him as he told us several times. His date would sit in that hotel room until he got there so as long as that audience sat there he wasn't going to leave. He'd meet the sun with us. So if you have a schedule be ready to get recognized if you're one of the first groups to leave in hour three. Or get the early show. But you'll miss some great comedy with that last show.
