The Megavalanche is a downhill massstart race.
Approximately 1300 riders are expected every year to compete from the top of « Le Pic Blanc - France » at 3300 meters of altitude.
Since years, winning this race is one of my deepest dream !

The stability in those go pros are incredible. Really amazing engineering.
keep in mind are mounted on their head, our head is balanced and stabilized as well compared to our torso, is not like mounting the cam on the vehicle itself...
The fish-eye lens is ruining most videos though.
It's a lot due to the higher resolution at which they record nowadays. The stabilization is mostly done through software : the image is slightly cropped and an algorithm moves the video around to make it more stable. It's been used for a long time but with better sensors and shutter speeds,, the image is crisper thus easier to stabilize. It's great tech indeed.
The picture quality is garbage though, looks like it was filmed with a smartphone from 2013.

I'm not into mountain biking or anything but I've been following your Mountain of Hell and Megavalance races since 2019. It's so heartbreaking to see you come so close to victory yet so far, you did really well. Keep working hard, that victory is waiting for you. Seeing those last 5 minutes broke my heart and I can't even imagine how you were feeling at that moment. Always supporting you, Killian. And this new format of showing video with information is great.

@@teijaflink2226 oh that's not Killian in the end. Killian's GoPro stopped working around 31 minutes mark, so he used Stefan Peter's (winner of this event) video. It says nr. 1 because Stefan Peter finished first. Sadly, Killian couldn't win due to tyre issues despite being in the front with comfortable lead.
Love your racing content. The commentary and live ranking really added even more depth to these great videos. While I'm sad for the flat tire, this is still amazing content. Next year!
The race usually depends on skill of the rider but sometimes mechanical failures like : flat tire, broken chain, broken rear derailleur, broken rims or even a broken frame, or broken fork or broken handlebar.. can result unfortunately to switch the victory in favor of other riders.. which is usually called luck because they didn't have any issue..

Losing due to equipment failure is so brutal, especially when you were so far in the lead! That said, you were far enough ahead and close enough to the end that I'm convinced you would have won. Your body and mind won, even if your bike didn't! Mad props, bro. Unbelievable skill and stamina.
But don't forget that two of the other favourites, who were ahead of him, also went out with punctures....
Your climbing skills are incredible! Every time I watch a Megavalanche or Mountain of Hell race, I'm seriously impressed by how many people you pass while climbing. World class, Kilian!!
You're the man Killian, the passing of Peter was something out of a dream, you left him for dead...pity about the flat, better luck next year (Pigeon seems unbeatable right now though)

Ah you really appreciate how the commentary is a game changer when you watch an older video. I was eager to know his place, strategy, thoughts. It was like watching a silent movie. This is a great development. Looking forward to more and thank you so much for working so hard for us to enjoy awesome content

I really appreciated the annotations here. A great insight into what it takes to put yourself into a position to win with not just physical commitment, but the mental. Very impressed that you try to take some pleasure in riding your bike... what I would say is "Enjoy the challenge". Something I wish some coaches would have instilled in me earlier! It's such an interesting event; it's good to see it's competitors take it on with a good sporting attitude. Chapeau.
Yeah, the annotations were a great addition (wouldn't ask for on-bike commentary for obvious reasons!), and it was great of Stefan to let you have his footage after your gopro died, fantastic to see such cameraderie between competitors! Only thing I'd feed back on with the annotations is that, for me, the position was a little low - I kept having to go back in the video because I didn't notice them until they disappeared, and they're right over the video info overlay, which made quickly checking runtime a bit tricky.
All the 15 Fans at the finish line have really been gone crazy🤪😜😝 less fans on 4th league soccer game on a Wednesday 😂😂😂

Please add more video after the race , even if you have to put it on another video. The fans would love to see more after race camaraderie with you and the other riders. I watched Damien Desbrosses' video yesterday and my heart sank when he passed you and mentioned that it looked like you had a flat. So close but yet so far! Don't lost faith though, it was an absolutely brilliant run Kilian, and I'm sure you'll achieve your dream of coming 1st at the next Megavalanche!
Man I've watched your runs from previous years multiple times. Such good content. I was saddened to see in another video you had gotten a flat while in 1st place with a huge lead. Amazing run, you are a beast on the Megavalanche.
Man I'm into totally different sport, never really enjoyed riding, but I find this just so motivational! Your performances, mindsets and flexible tactits, the way you took that lose and were focused on all the positives, it just motivates me in my sport so much! I love this kind of performance and the way you show it, it's just truly truly inspirational!

Seeing this video was over 40 mins I expect just to watch a little of it but watching you ride and keep passing people I couldn't stop watching. Killian, I've watched more MEGAVALANCHE & MOUNTAIN OF HELL race videos than I can count, and this was definitely my favorite. Loved the real-time ranking, and especially the race commentary. You're GoPro footage is next level fantastic as well. BUT, I must say, you are a physical beast of a pilot with seriously impressive riding skills! Love watching you ride...very inspiring! This course will be yours!

As fan is hard to know about in race battles, so the only way we could see this is when they film-themselves racing & upload content and post it.. Tanks to these footages we now clearly see and understand how hard, dangerous and difficult is to win Megavalance with all mechanical failures that are part of this kamikaze downhill race .. Special detail when Killian blocked the rear shock before he enter in the forest section ! At this Level when each rider to try to set & adapt mechanical settings to the full race mode just blew me away..

What an amazing race, to be honest what ever position you come you're a winner, its insane doing this for nearly 50 minutes!
remember it is the journey where is the passion, winning the goal is just gravy. My husband and I rode mountain bikes when it was a new idea, we've been on them ever since but as age not so much. Thank you for sharing your video of your race with us, we cheered you all the way; keep riding and loving it.
The commentary on this one is great, helped me get an idea of how your thinking in these races, how you don't always know your position. how easily it is for bikes to get flat or other issues which i couldn't tell just by watching video as you pass others. And a lot of other info that helped me understand the process. Good video!

this new format with your comments is incredibly nice, to know your emotions every moment of the race. The first few times I saw your races I was a bit disliked because you almost always won. . but after these last two unfortunate editions of the Megavalanche you have become my favorite and I will cheer for you. . together with the Italians. Who knows why S8cornola didn't compete this year? Anyway the competition between you and Stefan is enthusiastic but also Oton was terribly bad. . otherwise it would have been hard for everyone to beat him.

I used to climb this kind of terrain in Romania in the ‘80s, with a 25-30kg backpack, but never went on a bike like you,the speed is crazy, your reaction time is unbelievable 🔥🔥🔥 I’m 52 now and I can’t take my eyes off of this video ❤️😎

At 25:24 when you enter that S bend and you see the dramatic amount of braking you apply and the way you transfer your body weight. That's so impressive. I think its my favourite part of the video. BTW, cheers for keeping your GoPro clean 😉
