    • Lee Wilson Alright dude, I'll give ya lying, sneaky, conniving, & elitist.. Yeah, I imagine these things all came into play throughout Hillary's political career. Think you'd be hard pressed to find a real contender in national politics (save maybe 2-3?) who doesn't possess these qualities to some degree. (Its not ideal, but - for a lot of crappy 'se la vie' reasons - its jst the nature of the beast.. Par for the course.)** But "evil"..??!?? Seriously..?!!? GTFO... That's gotta be hyperbole, right?! I mean, you can not like her, not trust her, disagree w/ her policies, & all of that - & that's totally fair, to each their own.. But you dont honestly think that Hillary Clinton is legit "evil". 😕 BUT, if you do sincerely believe that she genuinely qualifies as being "EVIL", I think I'd like the reasoning behind that determination explained to me, if you don't mind. ??!!??!! 😞 Cause it seems a bit extreme.. Ya know? (She's no saint, she's made some mistakes, she's sometimes supported crappy deals & corrupt systems, & she's been a lawyer for like 100 yrs so its to be expected that she covers her ass, is cautious & particular w/ her speech, & plays shit close to the chest...) As far as her abilities, actions, attitude, & achievements are concerned though - she's basically a status quo politician whose achieved more success than most.. And, frm all accounts (as reported by both her friends & foes) she's apparently an exceptionally driven, dedicated, hard working person, who's (legit) highly intelligent, & incredibly adept at working in the political arena tackling policy & proficient in navigating the wonky technical aspects of legislatio, & does not run or shrink in the face of adversity, & is take-no-shit hard as nails w/o apologies when she's gotta be. (Which, in normal times, would basically be considered a summary describing what folks would view as an ideal President. -- But, goes w/o saying that these are not normal times.. So of course none of that stuff matters then.) Gotta say that I'm not really seeing how or where the "objectivist" claim comes into play either..?? Beyond her drive & ambition (which, in & of themselves, aren't bad qualities -- & ARE necessary components in achieving success) I don't find her to possess or demonstrate the hallmark traits of objectivism. (And she really don't strike me as someone who's a fan of Ayn Rand.) Paul Ryan has proclaimed his admiration & agreement w/ Rands perspectives.. And libertarians are somewhat objectivist by nature too, in general. --- But going down the list of traits, beliefs, viewpoints, & behavior of Objectivism (as it's defined).. One after the next they are rendered inapplicable by things that Hillary has done throughout her life. (Examples: She chose a career in public service upon graduating law school, rather than business. Or the fact that she opted to create a charity organization after they were both out of office, rather than go rake in massive $$$ working on K Street like most ex-politicians do. Or her support of market regulation, AND proposal of an added financial transaction tax to help curb reckless irresponsible trading practices while generating extra revenue to help ease finsncial burden for students. Or her support for increasing taxes on wealthiest tiers, which she is in & so would COST her more in order to benefit ppl w/ less. Or her relatively cool relationship w/ Netanyahu due to criticisms & condemnation she's expressed re: the expansion of Israeli settlements. Or the yrs she spent working on getting ppl health care & a multitude of other social benefits & support services, despite not personally needing to. Or her (much maligned) opposition to American isolationism, & support for interventionism, on the world stage. Or her belief in anthropomorphic Climate Change & support for imposing regulations to mitigate human impact. Etc. ---- All of these things are in complete contrast to fundamental principles of Objectivism.) 😑 Now, before I end here, lemme 1st note this (somewhat important) detail, to provide a bit of context for the way you perceive my comment to be made here... --------> I am no great fan of Hillary's. So don't misinterpret what I'm saying as an attempt to push unwarranted praise or defense of her. --- I'm not trying to talk her up.. Jst stating facts frm her bio which are pretty much universally accepted & agreed upon, & offering an reasonable rational realistic fair & honest analysis of her political career, etc... I actually supported Bernie in primaries, volunteering to work for his campaign immediately on the day he announced he was running. (Didn't vote for her in 2008 either actually.. Thought the policy she was proposing for Iraq - an immediate withdrawal of our troops there - was terrible, irresponsible, & incredibly dangerous, considering the state of things which we had created there when we invaded.) No, I'm not particularly stoked on Hillary... I jst dont think she's the freaking devil. I recognize her flaws & weaknesses.. And am also honest enough to acknowledge her attributes & achievements. Think that slandering someone beyond a degree which is validly warranted is bad, because it perpetuates problems like divisiveness & extremism. Plus, if someone's talking all crazy, unrealistically exaggerating shit & making outrageous claims & over the top accusations.. Then ya can't reason or engage in debate w/ them - that's jst ridiculousness!

Basically you took capitalism in nearly purest form, stripped your politics of everything known as solidarity and expected it to all work out because history shows that rich folks care so much about their fellow men that they apparently want to rule over them in a dictatorial manner practically every single time they get too powerful like every single king or in our time cooperate overlords and again, before you accuse me of being a commie, I am a centrist and come from a European country that literally sent it's communists into concentration camps [bad joke but what do you expect from a student at 5 in the morning] - the point is that your country has a great econemy and is terrible to live in [ in comparison to nearly all other more economically developed nations in the world places like but not limited to Japan, Canada and Germany - name your favorite candidate] as it treats citizens like fuel for the econemy [as in stuff that has no opinion or value and can just be burned up]), he never talked with the groups in a respectful manner, he is a right wing populist with a lot of far right but barley not extreme right stances, he deliberately fuels two sides instead of trying to unite the country like ANY president would have usually done, no matter the party they belong to, he is overall extremley personal and shares or even creates wild conspiracy theories, routinely lies and last but not least, he is overall the worst president the US had in more than a century in almost any aspect when you judge a president as someone tasked with doing what is best for a country and not just their party or ideology (though I can't particularly stand either party as they just sound and act as pretty much two slightly opposing wings of the same political movment if you look past the rethoric. Shall I continue with the facts about him abandoning public health care projects from the previous administration, attacking minorities for political gain which fueled racial tensions and lifting taxes from people that already pay extremley low rates and are "too big to jail" if they or their companies ever mess up to put the power your companies hold over you into perspective or does this list suffice? I could also go on about how he basically bought himself into the oval office and is basically the biggest lobbyist of the world for a bunch of things a politician really should not be involved in or I could even go so far and say that maybe, just maybe tweeting every thought in your head isn't the wisest thing to do when your own advisers beg you to stop causing scandals... But hey, what do I know about American politics ;)

    • Hmmm..... I can't say I'm up to date about your firearms laws, but here in Canada they have been a disaster. the same is true of Britain. I just recently did a video on how safe our streets are. Believe it or not the gun toting U.S. has a lower rate of violent crime than we do here in Canada. I'm talking really significantly lower than us. U.S. 383- Can. 1064 that per pop of 100 000. I do recall that it was the Port Arthur shooting that changed life for Australian firearm owners and cost your Government $5 billion in compensation to firearms owners. Taking a cursory look at your crime stats the firearm laws have had little impact on homicide rates, actually might have encouraged sexual assault, and robbery. albeit you're still safer walking the streets of Australian cities than any Canadian city with our strict laws here. The U.S. has a decided advantage their thugs don't know who's packing heat therefore the safer bet is leave people alone rather than risk springing a leak. The old adage" An armed society is a polite society" is actually true.

  • Sad world we live in where Comedians make more sense than Politicians.

    @sonofhamp@sonofhamp5 жыл бұрын
    • Nah not at all man. Politicians get paid to tell you what you want to hear, comedians get paid to tell you whatever the hell they want. Usually that's the absurdity of the world around them. It's like a constant confrontation with reality and human nature. And that usually seems to lead to some really crazy psychological places for them. You get ones like Jim Carry or Robin Williams who are stars that collapse in on themselves, or Mitch Hedberg who develop a fatal chemical dependency, or John Pinette or Ralphie May who eat themselves to death. Or the new phenomenon of the comedian world leaders via news media like John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, John Stewart, Jim Jefferies, Trevor Noah etc. Or even the really unique case of Russell Brand. But there's usually some kind of empathy in comedians for those who are struggling because they either have struggled or still are struggling with something themselves. So there a trust and a connection there between the viewer and the performer that just doesn't exist with politicians. Or that's my take on it at least.

  • Jeez, I’m actually impressed by how easily the Trump fans get triggered. I’m equally impressed by how there seem to be 2 mutually exclusive realities here. I mean, seriously! There’s a whole bunch of people here who genuinely appear to believe these fantasies, who live on a different plane. And in the end, Jim Jefferies is actually right: fighting hate with hate really doesn’t work. Insulting each other, demonizing each other, “owning” the other team, all that bullshit, it doesn’t even work! It just gets us angrier and angrier. It makes us lose more and more respect for each other. Now I freely admit, I love JJ’s digs at the Trump crowd. But it’s more of a spiteful pleasure, which is not something to be that proud of. It feels like a kind of revenge for all the fear, the “WTF is that clown saying there?!?” we’ve had to go through for 5 years. And I’ll bet there’s a bunch of comedians who made similar digs aimed at Barack Obama between 2008 and 2016, and there probably were millions of people laughing their asses off in relief and spite as well. But. It. Doesn’t. Get. Us. Anywhere!
