And I have to say this is the best song ever, especially in the lyrics as in the second chorus sung by David, as well as the otherworldly guitar solos. • lol i'm sure you know a lot about music. not like there are literally hundreds of good contemporary bands/artists. I bet you listen only to led zeppelin/queen/pink floyd and some shit like metallica and think you're born in the wrong generation and that you're a special snowflake. your knowledge of today's music comes from the top 40s and you think that only mainstream pop and hip-hop is being made today. educate yourself a bit. it's easiest than ever to find good music (pro-tip: music exists outside of the radio and MTV. WHAT A SHOCKER!!!!!!), you just want to live in the past and/or are blinded by nostalgia. wake up. btw i don't expect a serious response, answer with some ad-hominem or "LOL DIDNT READ XDDDD" if you want, i don't care, in the end it's your loss only. I'm just telling you that you're missing out on tons of amazing music because you can't look past mainstream stuff, but maybe someday you'll grow out of the "lewrong generascion" phase and actually begin to find out that your views on music are extremely stupid and restricted. I was similar to you when I was 14 (i thought only metal was good music and that the rest sucked) so there's still time. peace

  • I saw these guys in concert twice back in the 70s. The first show was at Winterland in 1972. They were beyond incredible and in such a small venue it was unbelievable! I sat on the floor right under Roger Waters and as he sang, sometimes spit would fly out of his mouth on me. lol When they did "Careful with that Axe Eugene," Roger kept a straight face and then started screaming and he looked totally insane. As he screamed, conga drums or something like that blew up. Scared the crap out of everyone! The place was filled with fog from a machine and colored lights pulsated through them. They hadn't released Dark Side of the Moon yet so we got to hear it before everyone else. Then I saw them again in 1975 at the Cow Palace. It was standing room only and packed like Sardines as now they were very famous. They performed the entire Dark Side of the Moon set and when they performed "On the Run," I knew something was up so my friend and I moved up from the floor to the bleachers. "On the Run" is very intense with its fast pace and drone-like sound. I always envisioned a guy running or in a fast car or airplane and at the end, he crashes and burns -typical for Pink Floyd! So they are showing this video of I think it was a jet moving quickly over land or something like that. It was a huge screen and everyone was mesmerized by it. At the end, it sounds like a huge explosion with a guy screaming and sure enough, typical for Pink Floyd, they had a huge jet like a 707 or 747 come flying down on a wire from the back of the Cow Palace and crashing into the screen! It looked like an actual jet was crashing inside the place and scared the hell out of everybody on the floor! It was great!!! I'm so sad these guys can never get back together as a whole but the memories I have of those two concerts will live with me forever!

    • They've performed the song together on a couple of other occasions, but not for a few years, I don't think. What I really like is that the two different sections have different production approaches, and both really suit their section of the song. Waters's section is clinical, precise, haunting, and maybe a touch smarmy, while Gilmour's section is lush, overpowering, raw, and emotional.. They embody two different ways of viewing the world, which is probably why they have such difficulty working together - but when they can find a way to coexist (or when someone does a clever edit job), magic happens.

Я могу внести свой вклад только этими словами: «Эта музыка объединяет людей!» Yes, indeed, this kind of music never dies ... it is the ultimate music of my generation ! Your words "I consider them the same age, not by age, but by perception of the world" are very fine words. I only can contribute by these words: "this music connects people!"

  • My father showed me this when I was younger, now 25 years later as a Hip-Hop head, there is nothing that can make me cry so easily as this guitar solo at the end compared with the drums. It just make the water inside my body go all around.. unbelievable! This whole show is just magic!

  • The first time I played this on my stack system I cranked it right up stood in the middle of my living room and it made me feel out of my head without any drugs or alcohol. It does the same every time, the only track by the only group that has done that to me!. One of the best Rock tracks ever! Fantastic

  • I was almost 13yrs old when they released The Wall and I'll never forget the first time I heard the 2 part solo. It was a genuine spiritual experience for me and after the 2nd solo I literally felt as if I were "born again!" To this day, every time I hear the solo, I still get intense autonymous sensory meridian response (ASMR) aka "the chills"..

    • So do I. I was about15-16 when we watched Roger Waters Consert, Live In Berlin and since that day I have loved this band more than any other band. I still like that consert versions about songs from The Wall (It`s worth watching and listening for (there are several famous artist and band playing songs with Roger, although I`m not fan, they fit fine for the songs. My favorite song from this live is probably "Another Brick In The Wall part. 2" there is Cindy Lauper singing with Roger, and that is the Best version about that song I`ve ever heard. Cindy sings and acts perfectly but in addition guitar solo and other solos are great. Some people likes this live consert very much but some of them/us don`t. I think the best part about this live is that it`s more different than other albums/live albums so I won`t get bored for the music and I like that some of my favorite songs have variation versions and still there is one and the most important players from Pink Floyd (in my opinition). I think Roger is the heart of Pink Floyd but David Gilmour is very close to Roger and no one can fill the place of the guitarist in this legendary progressive rock band. If Roger is the heart of this band, as I say, then David woud be the soul. World have better guitarists than David (IMO, although David is very experienced anyway ) but no one can`t play, for example Comfortably Numb`s solos as sensitively, emotionally and more skilled as well. . I`ve admired this band about 22-years and some songs are the top of them all like Comfortably Numb, Hey You, High Hopes and much more but yet sometimes for example when I learn to play them with guitar, I listen songs too much so I would get bored for this music. That`s why I seek and listen a lot of diffrent live versions about songs, especially songs from The Wall album. For a long time I`ve been searching the best version of Comfortably Numb but haven`t found better one than Pulse version but for at least, Is there anybody out there (the Wall live album), live 8 and In The Flesh (live tour) versions are pretty close. If you know some good and rare ones, I could watch on youtube, could you let me know, thanx.

One of the VERY few LPs I can hear over and over again from the beginning till the end and I sing all the lyrics - alone. Especiially this song makes me smile because of respect, cry and amazed. Headphones on and eyes closed. But NEVER saw PF live performing. What a shame...
