Just not on hot stuff like o2 sensors. I just leave them on. That way, they are pre-marked if I have to disconnect them in the future. Works great, and saves confusion and time.

We replaced the engine in his FWD car in his driveway. I “made” him do most of the work, offering guidance and a helping hand when needed. Honestly, the best way to help someone learn something as hands-on as car repairs is to just have them do it and offer advice when they get stuck or start to do something wrong/dangerous.
