  • Actually Blanc was a great detective. We only think he's an idiot because he's so relaxed but that's because he has Martha figured out from the start, he knows she's hiding something but also that she didn't do it and is letting her lead him to the real killer. He also worked out Ransom was guilty without being privy to the same knowledge Martha or the audience had. Also why does he get the blame for Ransom's attack of Martha at the end? He's only a P.I, there were two state troopers in the room who could have also intervened.

  • Did you miss the part where Blanc knows Martha was at the crime scene from the very first second he meets her? The first thing he does is look at her shoe and we know there is a blood stain there. He even explains that later in the car. Or the part where he loudly exclaims that the REAL mystery he's trying to solve is who hired him and why.

    @Posiman@Posiman Жыл бұрын
    • Which is really dumb. Firstly, that spot of blood was the size of an ant and would be almost impossible to notice unless actively looking for it. Secondly, just because she has some blood on her show doesn't mean it is automatically from the old man. It could have just been from a small cut she had, a nosebleed, from someone in her family etc.... He could have asked her where the blood came from and even if she managed to hide her lie he could have the blood tested in a lab. Thirdly, and most importantly, if he thinks she is a suspect then why allow her to accompany him in the first place? She even tampers with evidence on multiple occasions (throwing away the broken piece of the window sill, erasing the tape, messing with the footprints)

The brightness of the blood would indicate it's freshness. If it was her own blood, there's a much higher likelihood she would have known it was there and cleaned it off. 3. He never thinks she is a suspect except for that time between Ransom "telling the whole story" and looking at the tox report. Even in that window, it'd be at worst manslaughter and unlikely that. He explains exactly why he brings her along - he feels he can trust her, and knows she knows more than has been stated. You can blame him for trusting too much, but that's about it

    • This goes to show that Rian Johnson when directing the kinds of movies he specializes in is outstanding, but people for some stupid reason want to get him out of his comfort zone like with Star Wars. Seriously, he 100% likely could have made an excellent spinoff Star Wars film based on a mystery plot that would be perfect to have twists in, but not the kind of story he was tasked to make for TLJ since that's not what he's in his element for (that's like hiring a chef to fix a car engine; no one wins). Rian deserves all the great credit for Knives Out since he finally got to make the kind of movie he's good at in a long while.

Hopefully he gets to make his Star Wars trilogy that he keeps talking about, because I'd love to see what he can do with the franchise when he's free of the constraints of using someone else's characters and plotlines.

He also thought a paint stain on Marta's shoe was blood (if it had been blood, it would have been brown), yet he never seriously considered that Marta might be guilty, even after finding out the old man told her all his grievances against his family, then changed his will to make her the sole heir.
