25 yrs ago I went to karaoke with friends. I was active duty in the Air Force. I had a WWII (paralyzed) veteran ask the waitress to bring me a drink. I think a lot of young women who do this is because of the high cost of living, uni fees, etc. When I was 16 and getting into uni, I had an orphan's pension, the government covered all my uni expenses including books and housing along with a monthly stipend (this was in Italy). I was cared for and not the struggling starving student who finishes school with debt. I worked part time (part of my nursing degree requirements) and had extra money for other things. I know for fact that today I think I would not be as lucky, everything is so much more expensive today vs back then and benefits back then were far more generous.

I'm open minded and progressive, but in the last few years, after dating for many, I no longer buy the "patriarchy" complaints. In fact, women in the US today legally have all the financial and employment opportunities as men. They just refuse to fully pursue them as men do. I'll give 2 examples: 1. Only about 10 percent of engineers are women. Why? 2. The prime minister of New Zealand was a young, attractive woman. She quit in the middle of her term for no good reason. How often do men do that?
No ma'am no ma'am. There is not a power imbalance. It's a contract between two people. She doesn't have to agree to anything she doesn't want to and she has the 100% freedom to walk away from it anytime she wants. So does the man. It is equal both ways.

As a parent, grandfather. I believe parents are enabling children by fixing everything for them. Then when you don't, or cannot they have not learned to be resilient. Tough lonely times are ahead of all of us on occasion. Facing your own difficulties gives you self confidence to meet the next challenge, even welcome it.
They're trying to take a short cut as well as add to their income. Toronto is extremely expensive. I do believe they are definitely playing with fire. They are no longer in control once that money gets exchanged. And Sandy is lieing she's got to be giving it up. Unless you have model looks I doubt these men are just paying for attention.

During my college time I learned that the gay community also has its own version of such „arrangements“. I naively believed that being gay is all about finding the right partner. I had no idea, that there were young men out there, looking for a pecuniary boost. My roommate, a very handsome, blonde, blue-eyed man, kept a frugal lifestyle in college. He saved the money and the gifts, which his older dates lavished upon him. After earning his degree, he immediately paid his student loans, packed his stuff, moved to another continent, discovered the gym and a nutrition advisor, gained a lot of muscle, started his own business, became practically a successful „sugar daddy“ (who still fantasised about successful and mature men) found the love of his life (a five year older surgeon) and has his happily ever after. I thought his life was a drama, but he always said it‘s a comedy.
So sad what people think this is normal life now, free-loading. They have no clue how much better and easier life can be.
Putting one’s self in a position like that, there will always be an imbalance because the one with the money rules. I would never give up my freedom to do that. Freedom is priceless.

Do people understand a concept like that these days? If the other side of your team is a tyrant, then they are a tyrant and a person needs to take responsibility and take themselves out of that situation. What some people do not realize is that when you are young you are pulled in by the thought of money and security, but find the situation hard to get out of. I never had another serious relationship nor trusted anyone after that. I wasted my best years. All because I fell for an old mans charms. He went to prison and I bear the physical and mental scars.

That is what I thought they are average looking. I was much hotter than them at that age with no makeup. I had men young and older hitting on me all the time. It was sweet, but exhausting at times. I really did not date much. I could not find anyone smart enough that was a good fit. I did like to go out dancing on weekends sometimes. Never paid for my drinks and I never went home with anyone.
