Lyrics
Did you ever want it?
Did you want it bad?
Ohhh, my
It tears me apart
Did you ever fight it?
All of the pain
So much pride
Running through my veins
Bleeding, I'm bleeding
My cold little heart
Oh I, I can't stand myself
And I know
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
Did you ever notice
I've been ashamed
All my life
I've been playing games
We can try and hide it
It's all the same
I've been losing you
One day at a time
Bleeding, I'm bleeding
My cold little heart
Oh I, I can't stand myself
And I know
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
Maybe this time I can be strong
But since I know who I am
I'm probably wrong
Maybe this time I can go far
But thinking about where I've been
Ain't helping me start
#Kiwanuka

It was a musical genre very typical of the time and Michael Kiwanuka was inspired by it. I advise you to listen to more music from the 60s / 70s besides Pink Floyd, such as for example Camel, E.L.P., Genesis, Uriah Heep, etc.

    • Thanks for the uppity music history lesson Luis - complete with 'advised' listening list - but this is Pink Floyd all over, namely Shine On You Crazy Diamond from the Wish You Were Here album of 1975. If you're not recognising that you have no place advising anyone about anything to do with music. No thanks to your 'prog-rock' wankery anyway, can't stand any of those bands. No one is saying they "invented the genre", but Floyd were in a class of their own.

  • The first time I listened to this song was September 17, 2018. It was a bad time for me. I remember sitting on a makeshift roof, having climbed it with so much difficulty, at 4 in the morning. I listened to this song on loop till the sun came out. That was the first time I ever wrote and here's the poem I wrote that day: Cold Little Heart You win. Amidst the tyranny of my agony, I realize... My heart succumbs finally, To my guilt, or to your absence? Burdened by something, Is it your virtue or my sins? Can see myself fading, Is it the growing dark or the shimmering light? I feel myself sinking, Is it a dream, or just the starry night? Want to ask you once, Should l stand again or give up the fight? Bewildered,I run searching around, Am I blind or is there no one in sight? Rush to me, strap me in your trap too tight, This cold little heart may bleed yet again, Another day, Another plight. This song will haunt me forever and I'll happily let it.

    • The deal with matter and flesh (versus energy and abstract which is what we are ultimately made of) is that we FORGET the reason we came to this planet. We know IN ADVANCE the troubles and hardships we will face, the temptations and falls we will encounter. This being the constant for everyone that signs up to the matrix of the little blue planet... What would then be the variable? THE WAY WE GO THROUGH THE HARDSHIPS OF LIFE. The attitude, the temperance we choose to undergo experiences while we 'walk through the valley of death'... You faced your grim reality and pulled through by playing sounds, appealing to VIBRATIONS. That was your coping mechanism. Some will do it appealing to substances like alcohol, pot, chemical drugs, some others will do it through tasting violence, control and some, the least, will even choose murder... very dangerous choices we will pick as we go through life but those will be the memories that will stick through, long, long after we are no longer physically here.... So good on ya Chelsea!. "It takes a very long time to clean out the garbage that we, luminous beings, pick up while in the world..." Book The Eagle's Gift by Carlos Castaneda

    • stephen percival conspiracy

      @kriticalthinka@kriticalthinka7 жыл бұрын
    • It's not a conspiracy. The thing is, the vast majority of people don't dig around for good music. They take what is put in front of them. Back when the internet was first going public, so many people argued that it was going to take away the 'filters' of the music companies and let everyone get out there on their own. And of course it did that. But what those folks never understood was that you could ALWAYS get out there on your own. The difference between the ones who got big and those who didn't is money, in almost all cases. Doesn't matter how good they are, unless they are gotten in front people on a broad scale, they will almost never become big. Nothing to do with talent, it's all about the human nature. And, the other thing the internet did, was let EVERYONE get out there on their own. So now there's a massive over-supply of music. By next week, most people can't even remember what it was that they were listening to last week. They stumbled across ten other acts or artists in the meantime. Add to that the fact that so much music is now synthetic and edited to the gills on the computer, it's undermined the value of talent. We don't live in an era anymore when people are respected for talent like was the case before the 2000's. That makes it a lot easier for 'beautiful people' to appear to be talented artists, and beautiful people always have the advantage with the wider audience. So it becomes about image and fashion and being a celebrity and all that. People like this guy need to be in an era where talent is celebrated. And an era where the ability to actually play your own music is important. That's just not the case now in mainstream popular music, and hasn't been since the 2000's really. I watched a video a few weeks ago of a festival where people just played their recorded music and basically just stood around on stage without actually performing anything at all. Where does this guy fit in that? With everyone stealing music like crazy, those folks with the money to put behind musical acts are going to take no risks. They'll put their money on the most formulaic, digitally produced music. The guy who just plays his music off of his laptop on stage and stands there just costs them plane tickets, unlike a real band. Back when music made a lot of money, music companies would put money behind a lot of acts and see what worked. And guys like this would get a chance to see if he could find a real audience. But now, most folks like him are going to be just another dude on KZhead, amongst millions of the same, struggling to get above the noise.

  • Of course this song is incredible, but I was just wondering who shot this video. I love how it starts on the pianist and Kiwanuka and expands its perspective as other people are brought into the song. At one point you can even see the engineers in the booth. Also love the choice to not focus on Kiwanuka as he starts to sing... to cut back to Kiwanuka would be the most obvious choice, imho, but he's not even in the shot at this point! The camera instead seems to highlight the ensemble of performers around him. Which is perfect because it is really quite a brilliant ensemble.

    • Absolutely! Starting with the coffee mugs, then the pianist with his delicate play to start the song and slowly introducing the others members, standing behind Kiwanuka when he's working on his pedals, including the drummer just in time in the shot at 4:10 when he makes his debute, then the light into the lens at 6:10 to visually make the transition of the song from intro to the 'actual' song, subsequently getting behind the drummer and shifting the focus at 7:20 back to Kiwanuka and the rest of the band, including the percussionist at 8:20 at exactly the right moment to show his work on the shakers and make you actively noticing them, geting the guitarist at 9:10 in shot when his individual work is more prominent, getting the backup vocals and Kiwanuka in the shot at 10:00 when it is all about them, standing behind Kiwanuka at 10:30 when it is all about him, subtle moving him to the left side of the shot to include the drums and percussion as they kickin in again at 11:00, getting the backup vocals back in the shot when they re-emerge at 11:20, idem for the guitarist and then going back to the starting position and the coffee mug to close the video. Definately not by coincidence all this and it must have taken them a lot of tries, but the result is very natural and subtle. Makes you really part of the whole live aspect. Love it!
