In this video I visit with Eric Lively, fabricator, and owner of the Utah_Yota (@utah_yota on Instagram) FJ Cruiser! This thing is a beast, and I give you an up-close look at what a build like this looks like. This FJ is was the inspirational genesis of the build I'm currently working on. Finally someone who actually made the FJ what it's really was meant to be. An off road beast.
Since the bed isn't separate like regular trucks to accommodate frame twist, I can see why he needs the cage for the extra frame stiffness. Thanks for showing us this rig Ken, most awesome!

You should take the rear power window from a Tundra and install it in your FJ.

That is by far, the baddest ass FJ I've ever seen. I'm a hard-core Jeep guy but if there was ever a chance in hell that I'd swap my Jeep for a Yota it would be that.

There's a great variety of content you have on this channel between trail videos and build videos, I think this was the first "Share your crazy FJ" video and it's a great source for inspiration. I've got a stock 2008 myself and just starting to think about the first real mods I'd like to make to it. Mine's a daily driver though so I gotta keep it street legal. Thanks and keep it up!

To all those who do not know, between 2007-2014 there was only 222,000 yes that is right not a typo, only 222,000 of these were sold in the ENTIRE American marketplace! So sufficive to say it is literally a collector vehicle already. Now I know there is people out there who would argue a 13 year old vehicle can't be collectable already, however they would be dead wrong! Nice score on the 2008 man, I wish I could buy one. Just for kicks you guys should look at how much they are demanding in 🤑 price wise when you see one go up for sale, crappy condition or not.✌

the seat attatchment points being incorporated into the roll bare is genius, probably a standard design with high performance offroad vehicles but i've never seen it before.

Getting stoked for your build! I’ll have to see if I can run into you while you’re in Cali. I moved to the Sierra nevadas, I’m super close to fordyce and the rubicon’s not far away! Hope I can get a glimpse of the FJ when you’re out here

saw pictures of it on IG, most of the comments are saying it's a photoshop, and would not believe me someone actually fabricated it. I even directed them to his IG page, and they still say every picture is photoshopped, even the progress chop pics.

How do I meet people like you guys? I want to learn to fabricate, I've got a titan-swapped Xterra that I'm going to do either a proper long-travel setup (about 19" of wheel travel) or solld axle swap but not sure which route to go. I need friends like you guys to convince me to go the right route!

@@offroadhub.official for my taste and rarity of build, I would choose a 4th gen 4runner or 1st gen Seq. FJ cruisers are not what I think people want. Burn me. Can that manual be put behind a v8? Thanks for the vid.

No concerns with the wheel spacers breaking? Curious because they are a much cheaper option to buying new rims.
Eric is running spacers I think. Are you saying it would be cheaper to keep stock wheels? Stock wheels are too narrow for 15.5" wide tires, and they aren't beadlocks.
Would love to see a follow up to this to see what it looks like now. I don't use any social media. Commenting on youtube is the closest I come to it so I can't his instagram or whatever.
I'll be wheeling with Eric sometime in the near future. I'll be sure to give another quick rundown of his FJ!

Those tires retail for almost $800 a piece. Between $20-30k for the suspension depending on how you do it.

Sorry to disappoint you Pablo. 😆 I'll hire some professional actors next time. FYI it has a factory FJ Cruiser tcase and factory F350 axle shafts. Not sure about the lockers. But you know they do what lockers do.

What would you recommend/expect?
Something with a lot more travel that he can even tie into that roll cage, you can tell it’s just a off the shelf kit for an all around lift. I like direction he’s heading though!
I would have to cut my wheel wells a whole lot, I'm planning on redoing them to 16s in the future. These coilovers do really well the way its setup now, you'd be surprised

I certainly wouldn’t say it’s the Baddest FJ in the world, although I would say it’s the most Butchered FJ in the world 😂
That is all cool and all, but at a certain point it is not much of an "FJ"; and their are probably better platforms for going that far off the deep-end with it. but, hey it is the trip that counts. otherwise we would have just all bought a helicopter. 😆
It's more of an FJ having a solid front axle, historically... 😉 You mention other platforms. Taking a Jeep Wrangler to this point requires almost an identical amount of effort, so what you start with isn't too much of a factor.
You should see my helicopter then.

Hey Ken, I've got some great news you may want to share with your viewers. You did a lesson on removing CV axles a while back. You have a tool made of rope to pull them off. BUT it's not available right now. Well, I found a company making them. (G-zila) Google g-zila CV removal tool. You'll find them. 30.00. worth it to me.

I would not do that to an FJ... I'd just get a pick up truck instead.
Of course it's a matter of taste in how it looks, but this isn't meant to be a pickup truck at all. It's a rock crawler with an open air top. The spare tire will take up the entire "bed." Eric has a pickup, but he'd never take it rock crawling.

A genuine person who is doing what he wants in life. He brings all of us who subscribe to his channel on his journey and we have fun tuning in and enjoy the content he brings. Like everything in life “You” fester have the God given right to turn on or off what you watch. But to opine about someone you’ve never met is disturbing. While I disagree with him regarding Ken I have to agree with Uncle FJ regarding the "LBB." She's getting a little irritating. I wish she would tone it down. Sorry, Ken, this is your channel.
