  • This is such a helpful video! I bought an 08 earlier this year and I love it! But I honestly didn't know what the drivetrain buttons do. I MIGHT take it out on a trail one of these days. I was fortunate to find one that was garage kept (near mint condition). I put a cheap set of Amazon rock gliders on it. She's just so pretty that I'm afraid to put any scratches on her, haha.

I recently picked up a 2014 FJ with 4WD Automatic Transmission. I was checking your switches video and realized that my FJ doesn’t have the Rear-Diff, A-trac, OR crawl control switches…. Turns out it’s actually wired even though it’s a dummy switch. I ended up finding the empty dummy switch. My question is what is the wiring for with the switch that was blank on my FJ but is normally where the A trac button would be?

  • Thanks for clearing up the idea does your A-Trac work with the rear lockers on. I have a 2013 I thought it did. You're the second person to say yes. I'm one of those that uses my A-TRAC more than my lockers. As my FJ has done trails like gold mountain in big bear with just A-TRAC. And it's rated 8 out of 10 trail. But it's really about a 6. Love the A-TRAC button.

    • Will insurance total it over that, or will they actually replace the airbags?

      @chainlink4241@chainlink42412 жыл бұрын
    • @@chainlink4241 I had it all repaired at a Toyota dealer, total about $5k. (Airbags were $1332 x2, seat belt assemblies $145 x2, and a few sensors, plus around $1k labor.) The headliner was a little wrinkled and replacing it would have cost another $1500 but it wasn't that bad so I just kept the old one. I'm glad I did, you can barely see the wrinkles now. Didn't file an insurance claim due to it being sort of hooning in the dunes. The service bill said 'customer jumped truck' lol. My gf was recording video when it happened (on my page tho it's kinda far back).

  • I'm trying to sort out if the a-trac/diff locker hack has already been done my '07 FJ built in 08/06. As far as I can tell, from offroading my rig, a-trac and the diff locker work in tandem. The back of the a-trac button has a spliced wire but I can't follow it's path behind the dash, nor do I know what to look for. Do you know of a good tutorial on how to perform the hack? I didn't see anything on youtube. I'm the 2nd owner.

    • I would hunt for the hack instructions on the FJCrusierForums, that’s where it was first shared. If you cannot find the thread let me know.

  • Is there a light on the instrument pannel that indicates whether A-TRACK is switched on such as the rest of the train functions.

    • Yep when in low 4wd if you press the A-Trac button a light will come on on the dash

  • Hi I have a 2010 4x2 and it have the aux button can I change it to the one with the USB included obviously i am asking oem

    @michaelsantiago8161@michaelsantiago81612 жыл бұрын
    • I am not sure if that can be done, since the USB was incorporated into the 2011+ JBL headunit. But there are other options out there so you can add the USB into one of the blank switch slots, that's what I did in my FJ Cruiser.

  • My 07 is fully equiped And I recently found a blanc switch attached with a wiring harness. Any Idea what is the wiring for? Maybe traction control off?

    @EDuarteG@EDuarteG2 жыл бұрын
    • Watch the video and pay special attention to the years certain switches were used on the FJ and where they are located. 2007 FJs didnt have a traction control off switch, it wasn't added until 2009. Which blank switch are you talking about?

  • Dang, do you know if atrac can be easily added to a tacoma with factory equipped rr diff lock but no atrac?

    • I am not familiar with the Tacomas unfortunately, but perhaps the Tacoma forums can share such insight 🤷‍♂️

  • Is there a possibility to install a pain sensor switch…I mean, is there a sensor it will activate if you don’t have that in the bumper? Can it be added? A friend upgraded his bumper and gave me the sensor and wiring

  • Wow! I have had my FJ Cruiser since it had 6K miles on it (164K now)-- like 15-16 years? I found the purpose of two buttons I didn't know about. (parking and security) Cool and Thanks! However, how do I decode the date built from the stickers in the door?

    @Drewbai52@Drewbai52 Жыл бұрын
    • Glad I could help! So the door jamb sticker will have a date printed in the top right corner, it will look like this, 12/07, which would mean December of 2007. So just look for that for your build date.

  • So, where can I find the Subwoofer switch on the newest models?? How can I activate it??

    @jorgemanuelhernandezlopez8698@jorgemanuelhernandezlopez86982 жыл бұрын
    • In 2011+ models there is no subwoofer switch as they switched to the JBL sound system. So all subwoofer control is in the head unit itself

    @MH-pe3di@MH-pe3di Жыл бұрын
    • I actually don’t know! I’ve never looked to much into it. I think most people who want to add an outlet go with something aftermarket that is superior to the OEM option anyways. But yeah adding the OEM switch and plug…. I’m not sure. They are difficult parts to find so not many folks do it.

  • So all FJ have the rear end plug setup even if there no plug?

    @jdhitc@jdhitc2 жыл бұрын
    • Well not only would you need the outlet but you would also need the inverter and then the switch and possibly the associated wiring so it isnt as easy as just buying the outlet

  • Just bought a used 07 FJ. Something is draining the battery over night. Not sure what it is and it only kills the battery on cold nights. Thinking I have an after market stero. But not sure why it would be draining.

    • Yeah maybe the aftermarket stereo, or perhaps it’s time for a new battery, cold weather can drain old batteries quickly
