He actually looks like someone who's been dropped in acid. It's always some weird perfect chemical that just turns them into clowns in so many iterations. This one feels so real its horrific. Like the clown make up is just a distraction or accent to his horrific disfigurement. I hope we see more of this one.

Most people would dismiss this scene as just nonsense being flung by the Joker at Batman but every single word he said was 100% true. He explained the nature of the Riddler with perfection. He was also right about Batman. This was a younger Batman who called himself vengeance. He wanted criminals to fear him. He wanted them scared shitless that he may be coming for them next. The Joker knows this so he used this meeting to get at Batman's sense of identity and self-worth because he hasn't caught the Riddler and people are dying in gruesome ways. He's afraid criminals will see him as weak and maybe they don't need to worry about Batman. The Joker gave him a psych evaluation was was on the nose for both Batman and the Riddler. All within a minute of looking at a few pictures of the crime scenes. They don't give the Joker the credit he deserves. Guy is insane, scary and highly intelligent.

I think he’ll be one of the best Jokers we’ve seen but if this scene was in the movie it wouldve stolen a lot from the movie itself. It’s a great teaser/sneak peek into what we’ll see in the future but it 100% wouldve taken a lot away from Dano’s Riddler which I think was awesome to watch. I love Batman but without the villains Batman is just Batman, needs great villains that need good development and I think this scene leads up to that very well

Man, this joker has massive potential, he really played the role of the psychiatrist in this scene. This version of Batman is indeed intelligent, most comic book accurate in terms of improvising and being a detective, but damn Joker was objectively spot on, especially when he said Batman believes the riddler's victims deserved it.
He would have made this movie amazing!

no, batman played the joker like a piano. he knew the joker was starved for attention (ever been locked up? or in a nuthouse? i have to both - visitors are rare, especially cool ones). he knows the joker is intelligent. he insulted his intelligence and walked away, calling the joker's bluff, and joker spilled the beans in his own fucked up way. kinda like clarice starling taking the files from doctor lecter and walking away, playing to his vanity only to get what she wanted. same shit, 30 years later.

I love this as a little homage to Will Graham and Clarice Starling’s visits to Hannibal in the first two Hannibal novels. Some even greater evil who can advise the hero on how to deal with the evil they’re currently facing.
Yeah, especially the part where Batman turns his back on the Joker, waiting to get out. It's very similar to the moment in Manhunter/Red Dragon where Will uncomfortably turns away from Lecter as he keeps talking, anxious to get out of there.

Joker and Batman are like two sides of a coin. Both born on the same night. I really like this Joker. Hes smart just like Batman the way he can read Batman with his mask on is impressive and knows what buttons to push to make him mad. I like the music and the dark grittiness of this Gotham City and Arkham. Definitely would like to see the rest of the Rogue's Gallery set in this world. 🦇 🃏

I really love how they portrayed the intelligence of both Batman & Joker here. Most movies that portray intelligent characters only show the theatrics of the smart guy showing off their smarts but don’t show the process of them putting together their plan, the homework that goes into their success.

Is blowing up the entire ceiling sending huge chunks of glass shards down upon the fleeing civilians showing high levels of intelligence? I love this for a multitude of reasons. Joker is actually terrifying. He can't be made into some weirdly toxic sex symbol for women. And his appearance matches his level of evil.

I think Christopher Nolan and Matt Reeves are the only two directors to portray The Joker’s intelligence. For however insane The Joker is his intelligence makes up for it. The way he uses words like “Baroque“ or “meticulous” and is able to read Batman even when he’s wearing his mask an tell he’s angry suggests maybe he derived from an academic background but due to his deformity became secluded and read a lot, studied but driven insane by normal people around him. Society was The Vat of Acid and The Joker was thrown into it.

IMO, I would have said Society is the Vat of acid, and the red hood(John Doe) was thrown into it making the Joker, but hey, a man can dream.
Mostly yeah, but I disagree with the implication that using a four-syllable word is indicative of his intelligence. Hell, I could utilize any aggregate of quadrisyllabic or even multisyllabic morphemes more or less accurately with the intention of insinuating that I am a perspicacious individual. I don’t think that means I’m smart tho, just means I know some big words. Joker’s real intelligence here is displayed, as you said, in his ability to read people, to learn everything about a person based on what little information or cues he’s given.
I think Mark Hamill's joker is super intelligent too but that's cartoon.

More likely the reason why they decided not to use this scene is because it was too reminiscent of the scene in Silence of the Lambs where Agent Sterling solicits help from Hannibal profiling Buffalo Bill. Even the dialog between the two scenes is dangerously similar.
as far as im concerned it is and deleated scenes are up to the audeance to say if its canon or not exra snipbits its why they left it as a deleated scene so it could slip through the cracks as canon by plead of the fans, and idk if wer even getting a sequal or any more dc stuff cus gunn is too slow at this and its not getting any love anytime soon so lets just say this did happen!

This and Joaquin Phoenix’s joker movies are separate from the new upcoming DC universe reboot. They’re all apart of their own respective universes with the intention being that it’s story over giant crossover action movies. Marvel is doing a similar thing with their announcement R rated films that will under a separate “label” so as to promote all different kinds of storytelling that doesn’t tangle things up and confuse people.

What an intelligent dialogue. The two HAVE to meet. But this joker is not for the streets. This is a master puppeteer, and the GPD is hopelessly overmatched. To deal with it requires strategic thinking on Batman's part, but this Joker is not an easy opponent, it's more like a final boss of sorts

This is a different joker, this one feels like a direct opposite of batman, opposing morals, similar knowledge, and the way joker reads batman like a childrens book is epic. He can almost tell batman somewhat knows the joker has a point. This joker feels like a final boss, i cant wait to see how hes used later on.
Seriously! This version of Joker is no joke. Although Heath Ledger is lauded as the best Joker to date. This one looks like he could just kill you and not miss a heartbeat! Will be interesting to see if and how he maybe introduced into the Reeve universe.

Because they didn't want to overshadow the villain in the movie.with something like the silence of the lambs,the main character was really Hannibal Lecter,not the serial killer who was being hunted.if they introduced the joker into this while the story was progressing,nobody would have cared about the riddler but instead would have been waiting for the joker to be on screen again

As much I love and consider Heath Ledger's my favorite performance of all time this is the only Joker portryal to truly, genuinely creep me out and shake me up a bit especially when seeing his face through the glass and how it's out of focus but I think Barry Keoghan may just give Ledger a run for his money. While we all know that joker was born with the burn defect, I think the Chemical bit is still possible, his whole body looks bleached and his hair is falling out kinda like the joker from Gotham, He’s got the red lips and the crazy green hair, all the crazy scars and mangled face and at the very end, we get a very up-close look at him, like I said, we have his bleached face and his crazy eyes. as well as that insane laugh

I would love to have jokers personality and traits (apart from his psychopathic tendencies and murderous intentions), he literally is batmans equal. Like joker always finds a way to keep batman on his toes and in this one he even goes to joker and asks him when he’s supposed to be the worlds greatest detective
I don’t think he’s the world’s greatest detective yet in this part of his life . I think he’s still tryna figure out how the alter ego crime fighting detective thing is going to work out. That’s why I feel like putting riddler as the first villain showing that part of Batman was a perfect choice showing he has to use his brain instead of brawn , besides using only his strength against someone like bane , killer croc or slade for example. But that’s just my opinion .

Love the end scene with the riddler. This does demonstrate the psychosis and the brain but i like the end scene with riddler in and of itself. Excited to see Joker 2 though but this guy has treat potential for more in this batman universe

i like that we have this scene. it’s very well done. i’m just glad it wasn’t in the movie because he would of taken away from riddler. they handled it right with him only showing up at the end

All the core qualities of the Joker while also being a completely original take on the Joker. I hope they slowly build to him over time instead of having him be the big threat sooner, he should be a background character for the time let Batman grow and develop and then when he comes into the picture it will truly test him mentally. This Joker has a lot of potential to be terrifying. He could have scenes where he leaves his victims with cuts on the mouths to resemble a smile.

What i love about each new cinematic Joker is that it is always a new interpretation of the character. They all have their necessary similarities but they are all distinct in both appearance and personality. Ledger's Joker is chaotic and methodical, Phoenix's Joker is playful and impulsive and this one seems contemplative and haunted.

There are some great "silence of the lambs" vibes in this scene.
The dialogue is perfect. The whispers and physical mannerisms are damn solid. But the laugh is not right.
