It’s so crazy how different everyone’s healing process goes. I got my tonsils and adenoids out 6 days ago and I still can’t stand to eat and I’ve been on liquids only ever since. Im glad your recovery went well.🤍
I got mine out 2 days ago and I’m the same but it fully hurts to eat😭😭😭
I’m on day 6 today and the pain is unbearable, especially in the mornings. When did your pain start to go away?
@@GuadalupeMartinez-lj3bb my pain eased off around day 7 then got worse day 9 and 10 but by day 15 I was eating and drinking normally. It’s been a month since I got them taken out and the pain has fully eased off. Hope that helps!! Good luck with recovery ❤️
Although I had mines done 6 years ago. My tonsils grew back after 2 years😭😭😭. But now I’m fine
It's awful pain. I'm on day 14 and it still hurts.
Just had a laser tonsil procedure done earlier this morning, and have been searching for "tonsil recovery" videos. Thanks sooo much ❤️
Ariel Fowler aww you’re welcome! I hope the video helps. Wishing you a speedy recovery 😘
@@sophiemaduenyi3069 did you take of yourselve all alone ? Were you able to ?

I can't believe they gave you a sandwich after. I just had mine taken out and was ordered to only eat cold ice cream, and other cold soft items for a few days after. Glad you did so well with your surgery!
Omg they gave you a sandwich right after ? I’m on day 6 recovery and won’t even attempt a bread or anything like that. So painful
Beka L 😂 the sandwich seemed a little strange, but I just went with it 😅. Honestly I think eating as normal as possible helped me recover quicker, your body needs fuel to recover! Aww I’m sorry you’re still in pain. Have you tried blending your food? Sounds nasty, but beneficial for your body if you can drink it. Get better soon x
That’s what I was thinking, I downed popsicles and water, I’m on my day 6 myself
@sjcienjdjsksjjcd have my op on Friday and I’m just scared for after 😬
@sjcienjdjsksjjcd glad it’s going well for you so far ☺️
@sjcienjdjsksjjcd it gets a little worse before it gets better annoyingly.. and thank you 😅
Awww bless you. Brilliant video. I’m due in tomorrow to have a tonsillectomy. No doubt I’ll watch this again during recovery.
Thanks for posting the video of your surgery and recovery! Yours was the only recent video I was able to find. It’s so interesting to see the differences in what the Dr’s suggest there, on what you can eat, versus the States. But I’m definitely going to be buying anti nausea medication. I’m having my procedure done this coming week and this video was very helpful! Glad you’re doing better!!
So happy my video helped! ☺️ Good luck with your surgery and recovery x
Thank you for making this video, I’m about to have my tonsils out next week and this video has made me feel a lot better about the process xx
Aw you’re welcome! Best wishes x
Thank you so much! I’ve been trying to find a video about someone’s personal experience! I’m having surgery in three days and I have to get covid tested tomorrow❤️ this helped me get a better understanding of what I would be semi experiencing through out my surgery.
I’m happy it helped you! Wishing you a speedy recovery ☺️
Thank you for vlogging your experience. My surgery is 1 week away and this has eased my anxiety.

I'm on day 3 after surgery.. a Nutritional Health Coach and I've noticed you are one of the only who has been consuming the healthier choices to fuel the body... SMART!!! I do think after the 3rd day of a calorie deficit the body actually goes into detox and releases junk in the blood stream, hence dizziness, headaches and nausea (not related to the meds) and since the bowls aren't moving things get backed up inside us and makes us feel even worse... I've introduced a coffee enema into my recovery yesterday and after releasing I INSTANTLY FELT BETTER.. -garlic oil drops in each ear and cotton balls so no leaks. -wrap head with a jaw ice pack; DIY- scarf or fabric with grocery bag/ziploc with ice -make some heating pads with socks and rice or any extra grain or bean in the pantry. And slide these under the jaw wrap to cover your ears and let that oil penetrate.. - I also find Bonafide Bone Broth with seaweed and okra blended is so easy to get down and I feel satisfied.. I did make my own mushroom veggie broth before surgery and sip that too ( NO PEPPER OR ADDED GARLIC OR SALT) -Herbal healing teas are great and mild/cooking for the area.. I'm using Sour Sop leaves, burdock and nettle with raw local honey... mmm mmm. I'm able to brush my teeth with a normal brush and talk fairly normal. Mornings are like sand paper but I let the tea sit back there for about 20 seconds and then swallow... Sorry so long but I hope it helps someone and gives more options to try.. 💃🏾💋😍😊🦸🏾♀️ ... YOU ARE SO STONG AND NATURALLY GORGEOUS QUEEN
thanks for sharing this helped so much
A sandwich.?? 🤣🤣 Nah I couldn’t even imagine eating that the day of surgery. I’m on day 10 & I just started eating macaroni a day ago.
😩😂 oh gosh really? Day 10 I was eating like normal. Hope you’re over the worst of it now x

Thank you so so much for sharing your experience - you were incredibly thorough and reassuring. I'm 27 too and due to have my tonsils removed next week after my covid test. God bless you xx
Quick question - what did you pack for your day surgery?
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I only packed a bottle of water, which came in handy on the journey home, as I was drinking so much due to my dry mouth and some lip balm 😂. I went in sweats and didn’t really need anything. Maybe take something for entertainment, like a book if you like reading? I just ended up watching tv in between all my naps lol. @@traumasaurus Hello, I'm on day 11 and i feel much better now... my throat was bleeding a little bit this morning since it was my appointment day i went to the hospital and the doctor prescribed me a few meds, Day 5, 6, 7 wasn't good at all but now I'm getting better... Thanks for asking!!!
I had mine out in December. I couldn't eat anything but jello and applesauce for the first week. I had 4 nasal procedures too, so I am still recovering 3 weeks later. I had to go to the ER on day 6 and get stronger pain meds, and sleeping has been so difficult. I do notice that I can breathe better, and my voice is less airy/nasally, and I can sing again a little, then it hurts. So I am looking forward to how I will be once I'm healed. My problems got worse over years, so I'm at the point where I'm noticing how sick I was. Starting to feel better than I have in years, and I'm finally thinking all this pain was worth it. Staying very hydrated the first week was as important for my pain control as the pain medicine, I had to keep my throat moist even though it hurt to swallow.
My surgery is in 6 days and I cannot thank you enough for this!
How far with your surgery?

How was the recovery I'm also getting one soon pls share bro I'm freakout is it really that painful... About internet sayings... Is always constantly unmanageable pain for straight 10 days
Thanks for sharing your tonsillectomy journey. I am on day 11 and it’s tough.
Hey how did u end up doing?
I am getting my tonsillectomy and sinus surgery soon. The pandemic is getting worse here, but I've already put surgery off for a year because of it. The anxiety really sunk in yesterday when I was driving home from my sinus CT scan. I am nervous about after care and pain management, everything seems a bit rushed since the surgery centers are only doing procedures a few days a month here. In the states they seem to kick people out as soon as they wake up from the anesthesia, and I've had problems from anesthesia before. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Aw try not to worry too much. I could barely move when I woke up from the anaesthesia, so I can’t even imagine that’s what they’re doing in the states 😧... you might not be able to have anyone go in with you (that’s what it was like for me) so try and make sure you have someone to collect you outside the hospital and also to stay with you for at least the first night, especially if you’ve had problems with anaesthetics before. Make sure to tell your surgeon on the day as well if you’ve had previous issues. The only after care I had was a one month check up with my doctor to check everything was healing correctly, so don’t worry too much about having to go in for aftercare unless you are having problems and need it. Try and get your pain meds from your doctor before you leave the hospital (not sure how it works in the states). Anti inflammatory mouthwash really helped me as well. Good luck with your surgery, you’ll be fine ☺️ x
Updated please
Ok i have mine in 6 days, absolutely terrified and your recovery is my goal! Getting inspiration from all you're eating, the doctor said the best thing to do to avoid complications is force myself to eat and drink and it looks like you've done it right! Can't wait to be past the first 10 days

@@ilianajimenez9140 It's going to be quite the journey my dear! Wishing you a speedy recovery after your surgery. Keep me updated!
@@keisha5184 did you have trouble breathing?
I actually did but at night time. I was a bit more fussy then. I was so uncomfortable what help me was my diffuser by my bedside because in the night is when your throat will get dry the most and then when you wake up no matter how much water you drank the day before it feels like starting all over again. So if you can try to drink water throughout the night, if possible. My diffuser kept the air moist as I slept because I'm a deep sleeper, so getting up during the night for me wasn't going to happen.
@@keisha5184 thank you for the tips, just having soar throat gives me anxiety, I know this is going to be one hell of a ride. So I bought the ice pack for around the jaw and ears, some oral numbing gel, idk if the surgeon will approve of it. And A tongue scrapper 😂 idk I saw someone said that helped.
i'm on day 7, didn't sleep whole night because of pain. i thought it's not normal, but since saw all these comments i feel better now that i'm not the only one. med that i used for first days past operation is not working anymore, gonna buy something stronger. really hope pain gonna go away as soon as possible because i'm starting to feel broken down. stay strong champs!
I had my surgery on the 2nd this month, everything was great until the 6th day, I was unlucky enough to have a secondary hemorrhage. So now instead of being fully recovered I have at least an extra 7 days to go. It's amazing to see how you were able to eat somewhat normally while I've been living on juices and protein drinks the whole time. Thank you for sharing your experience and great to see that it went so smoothly!
Raidenjh oh no that sounds horrible 😕 hang on in there! I think it was the type of tonsillectomy (coblation) I had, which helped with faster recovery. Eating hurt, but I just forced it down because I knew it would help. Hope you feel better soon 🤗
I just had mine removed friday (5 days ago) and im still in a lot of pain. Im 51 years old. Hurts to swallow let alone eat a sandwich. Ive had broth and thats it. Ears hurt too. Didnt anticipate this much pain. Glad its over. Over the pain. Good luck everyone

I'm on day 6, pain subsiding a minuscule amount but feels amazing ha. Still in lots of pain and can barely drink water. Onward and upward!

Left tonsil *
Me too haha.
sameee, don’t know if I have to get them out but maybe it’ll feel better than constantly having these huge tonsils choking me
Taylor’d Touch did you just have one swollen tonsil? That’s what I have. Did they tell you what’s going on? I was put on antibiotics this week and it feels slightly better, but if that doesn’t work I’ll have to get both removed. Kinda nervous.
@@kayleighduran3858 yes . It was only my left one. They did the same thing for me, antibiotics for a week. And one dose of steroids. Swelling went down a day later and the pain went aways after 3 days. In the past I never finished my antibiotics, just enough until my throat was back to normal. That’s bad because your body will reject them in the future and stop working. So I finished them this time. 😭 but I might get mine removed this year because I hate going through that.
I’m really surprised to see all the people in the comments that have to or already got this procedure done. My tonsil has been swollen for a couple weeks and I may have to get my tonsils removed. I’m terrified, but I’m glad I found this video and I’m not alone.
I was surprised too! I’m glad my video helped and good luck with your surgery if you go through with it. You’ll be fine ☺️
Have been watching so many of these, I had my tonsillectomy on Thursday, so I'm on Day 3 of recovery now (Sunday). I've still not taken any codeine as I've been so worried about feeling nauseous so I'm glad this confirmed it! Will only take it if the pain gets unbearable which touch wood it hasn't yet! Also I live in London and the first thing they gave me was a sandwich too haha, I went for tuna as it was the softest of all the options but still seemed like a v strange thing to give me
Did you go without the codeine?

Hello, this my tonsillectomy experience. The reason I had to get my tonsills removed is because they were so big they made me sick everyday and I was unable to breathe correctly because my nose was also blocked all the time. Day 1: - Immediately after waking up from the surgery I noticed I was breathing fine. - I didnt feel any pain (immediately after waking up). - I had to wait few hours before I could have a sip of cold water. - I only drank water and milk and felt mild pain while swallowing. - I was prescribed Paracetamol, Anti-biotics and an Anti-inflamatory. - Cant talk. Day 2: - My mouth was producing excessive amounts of saliva and it was painful to have to swallow it every 30 seconds so Instead I started spitting it. - Mild pain. - Feeling of something stuck in the back of my throat. - I had Ice cream (vanilla), milk, yogurt and milkshakes. - Cant talk. Day 3, 4, 5, 6: - My mouth was still producing a lot of saliva and I kept spitting it everytime I felt I had to. - Mild pain only while swallowing. - feeling of something stuck in the back of my throat. - mild ear pain. - I can talk but It feels uncomfortable. - I only had Ice cream, milk, yogurt and milkshakes. Day 7: - I tried eating vegetable soup, it hurt. - Mild ear pain. - Still feels uncomfortable to talk. - Less saliva. Day 8: - I ate pancakes even though it was a bit painful. - Ear paintalking. - Less uncomfortable talking. Day 9: - I still dont understand why but I woke up with the worst pain since the surgery, ear pain was also unbearable at that point. - I felt much better after taking Paracetamol. - I ate french fries and Pizza through the pain. - Fever Day 10: - Mild pain first thing in the morning. - Still painful to eat. - Ear pain. Day 11, 12: - Ear pain. - Not painful when I'm eating slow. Day 13, 14: - No ear food. - I can eat normally as long as I take the time to chew food Day 15: - I dont know why but I've had a little of blood in my mouth. - I can eat no pain Day 17: - Fully healed Please make sure : 1. You have a sip of water every now and then, it's important to keep your throat hydrated to ease the pain. 2. You take your meds on time even if you have to wake up in the middle of the nthen to do it, morning pain is the worst. 3. You avoid solid foods at least for a week or anything that has citrus in it until you're fully healed.
Day 12: -I ate full meals -Pain is 1 on a scale from 1 to 10 -Mild ear pain -One side fully healed
Day 13: - No ear pain - Mild pain when I swallow solid foods because it touches a raw nerve ending. - Back to my normal life - I'm breathing fine

Tonsils used to be routinely removed . I'm 74 years old and when I was around six my sister had tonsillitis. She needed to have them removed, and the doctor said, "We might as well do the boy at the same time." Thank you for this video. I have my tonsillectomy in a couple days and I’m so nervous as this is my fist ever operation, and as I have had tonsillitis throughout my life the scarring would be quite a lot 🤦🏽♂️… can I ask, how good is your pain tolerance generally? It seems you handled the recovery quite well especially with you using paracetamol because of the nausea. My pain tolerance isn’t that great so I’m interested to know how different my experience will be to yours!😂👌🏾 thank you again for the video
I have watched your video so many times. I'm currently on day 4 of recovery and you have helped alot. I've found sleeping with an air humidifier helps
I’m glad it helped! ☺️🤍
I’m currently day eight. Day five and six were the turning point from bearable to unbearable. I ended up in the emergency room on day six because I couldn’t tolerate water🙂
You're nearly there! It's so good when you get past it all. They said day 10 is the day it will usually bleed again but will rapidly heal after it. I can't remember exactly what happend but day 10 it got sore again and was totally over it at that point. But you're definitely past the worst. This video made me try this aloe vera drink and man it helped so much, highly recommend it. Think it was day 14 when I started eating normal again. Keep it up!😉
I feel you. I just got mine and the recovery was THE WORST! I got mine taken out because I had a sleep study and the results were not good and it’s because of my tonsils and adenoids so I got those taken out and shaved down so hopefully, my next sleep study won’t be so bad and I can get my trach out. I have a trach in my throat so hopefully if it goes well, I can get it out
Tips: I had mine done last summer at 20 years old 1.Drink a little water every hour that you are awake, and wake up every 4 hours or so when you are asleep to drink. And drink a lot after taking your meds so you won’t feel it as much. 2. Cool mist humidifier on 24/7 literally 3. Eat solid foods as soon as you can, day 1 if possible, but soft foods are fine too (scrambled eggs, jello, etc) NO citrus 4. If the meds are making you nauseous, you can switch to extra strength liquid Tylenol 5. NO ice cream, try sorbet instead, ice cream increases mucous 6. Wake up to take your meds, you do not want to wake up in pain 7. Light walks every day are okay, and help prevent clots 8. Get an ice pack, your ears may hurt more than your throat some days 9. Talk a little every day 10. You can take your meds 30 minutes or an hour before you’re supposed to, you aren’t going to overdose or anything. 11. Get stool softeners, the meds will constipate you
Your vase was super cute! Anyway, I wonder if you can take ginger chews for nausea. I have NEVER seen a throat-to-nose swab before. Can't you transmit cold sores that way?
i'm at day 3 of recovery... i ate my first meal today so that's good!! I still have pain when i swallow but yesterday was the WORST!! I still can't talk tho that sucks.
I’m on day 5 and I’m freaking out cause I know the scabs will fall off soon and that makes me super nervous cause I don’t wanna bleed a bunch :(
You remind me of Ella Mai! I get the surgery tuesday and im prepared!
I got mine removed 4 days ago and the pain has gotten at worst up to a 7.it’s been pretty constant but the medication helps a lot I feel like when my medication kicks in it’s a 4-5. Today I ate some solid food for the first time. Had some mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, soft cereal, and Mac and cheese. Coughing definitely hurts but burps for some reason helps a bit for me. So far day 2-3 was the worst. Good luck everyone with theirs. I definitely was freaking out before but it’s not as bad as I thought so far🙌🏼
the pain is so much worse than i thought the first night was bad but the 2-4 days are absolutely horrible the pain is insane sorry that’s so negative!! xxx
I remember when I got mines out about 3-4 years ago my breath was stinking bad and throat was hurting so bad !
I’m currently suffering tonsillitis for the second time in 6 months and I have an appointment tomorrow where I will talk to the doctors about maybe getting this done. I get tonsillitis at least 3 times a year. Since I was a kid I always had issues with my tonsils and ears, Makes no sense they never took them out. I’m scared if they say I have to take them out but I rather deal with that healing pain that deal with this hell a couple times a year.
Hi there ! Oh gosh I have a few questions. First, was your pre surgery picture of your tonsils how your tonsils always looked ? Second, did you ever have one tonsil that was always bigger than the other ? Third, did you ever feel like it was something in particular that would trigger the tonsillitis, like cold weather ? Lastly, How’s life been post surgery now with throat pain ? I am 27 and legit have had reoccurring tonsillitis since high school. The only difference then and now is that before I had health insurance and I currently don’t .. the doctor pretty much said the same thing to me back then about how I didn’t need my tonsils removed but here I am every year dealing with acute tonsillitis 😫 I totally feel your pain! Thank you for sharing your journey !
It’s amazing to see how everyone’s process is different. I’m currently on day 10 and I started eating soup yesterday. I still can’t stand to eat anything beside soup and applesauce
I couldn’t imagine not eating for 10 days 😣 hope you get better soon! x
I had a uvalopalatopharyngoplasty with tonsillectomy and bilateral turbinate reduction done on Monday. I was surprised as to how much food you were able to consume. I still haven’t eaten anything solid and it’s been 5 days now. My main problem is having dry mouth. I having to take my pain meds every 3-4 hours. I hope the pain goes away soon.
I think I got lucky with my recovery and I have a high pain tolerance. Try ice packs on your throat and eat anything soft you can manage. I hope you feel better soon 🙂
Thank you for sharing your experience. Im considering getting this - currently sat with painful tonsillitis again 😫 how many times did you have tonsillitis before you got them removed?
Thank you for watching! Honestly I started getting tonsillitis from about the age of 11 so it was 16 years before I got them removed! I had acute tonsillitis about 3 times and regular tonsillitis maybe 4 times a year for the last few years. But my doctor said I have active tonsillitis, meaning that my tonsils are always inflamed and infected which was the cause of the sore throats I was getting 3/4 times a week. It was just a constant nagging pain that I had enough of 😅. Honestly best decision, I haven’t had one sore throat yet x
@@sophiemaduenyi3069 hey I am from India..I also suffering from tonsils since I am 11 now I am 21 yrs..every year in winters my tonsils condition become very bad..and now i am suffering with very bad tonsils pain that no one can't imagine my throat is almost choked..Dr told me to surgery and removed tonsillitis from my throat..I m nervous plz tell me ? @@sophiemaduenyi3069 Thats insane! Don’t know how you dealt with it for that long. Glad you are feeling better. I’ve had chronic sore throat/laryngitis/tonsillitis for 12 months and my ops been cancelled on the NHS so defo going to try private! X
I’m on day 8 in recovery. I still barely manage to eat anything solid. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I’m on day 7 now. My ears are killing like crazy, my tongue keeps swelling and it hurts to swallow.
@@sinead6419 how are you feeling now? I’m just ending day 7 & when I wake up tomorrow it will be Day 8 & I’ve been so sad & in pain just waiting until things start turning around
Hey Sophie! I am watching this video again as I have no had my procedure! I am on day 3 and am a little bit in shock right now! I am in so much pain! Any tips? thank you :)
How are you feeling now? Tips would be to just stay hydrated, ice packs on your throat and eat ice lollies as well. Also try and eat as best you can x
Sophie's can you brush your teeth with normal toothpaste? I've been doing it with salt and water ,since I don't want to irritate the troat .
Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm scheduled to have my tonsils removed in 9 days. Did you have to wait a couple of days before you brushed your teeth after the surgery?
I brushed my teeth the same night after my surgery x
I just had mine removed. I am on Day 5. I brushed my teeth yesterday.
Hey I'm back. I'm on Day 4 post surgery. I actually went ahead and brushed my teeth that same night after surgery. Recovery is going ok. The first day was my worse day. Not due to pain, but due to extreme nausea and vomiting from the anesthesia. I vomited 6 times the first day, but once my Mom picked up Zofran from the pharmacy, I was good to go. Also, I am preferring warm foods over cold items right now...
@@aliciacox9830 Awesome, I just hit day 16 and also had extreme nausea and vomiting for the first 3 days after surgery, looks like only had it one day. Keep me updated!!
I’m currently on Day 4 of recovery & I woke up with a very dry mouth. However, I had some extra strength Tylenol & some apple juice. These couple of days have been rough. Watching your videos have been a relief because I feel like you here going through it with me lol.
Aw bless you. Thank you for taking the time to watch them! Soon you’ll be over the worst of it, rest up x
Same. Im on day 5, it has been super rough. Just now starting to feel ok
I have exam upcoming and i have to complete my whole syllabus in a mean time .. My doctor told me to do the operation .. Now i am afraid because i really have to study like 9-10 hours each day .. Can anyone inform me how long it will take me to start studies like the way i want to do ?
Please ans .. I am really freaking out
Wow you recovered very well, I'm on day 5 and still can't eat, throat and ear pain are real 😢
I'm on day 3. Ear pain was agonizing day 1 it stillsucks now but not nearly as bad as the 1st day.
Omg I’m on say 5 and I’m feeling the same way I feel like nothing is getting better yet 😔

5 days into recovery!! Painfull and dizzy im stopping the codine!! Other then that i feel asif it is easing off pain was worst day 2/3 for me.. was expecting pain but not like it was!!
I had mine removed 3 moths ago but my left side I feel something stuck ,I'm trying to make a other appointment just yo make sure what it is it could be tissues from the healing ect .
I just had mine takwn out last Friday and then last Saturday into Sunday morning my mounth start bleeding really bad. There so was much blood so I end up going to ER and had to undergo another surgery. Now Im ok hoping for better days
Gosh you poor thing. I really hope you’re feeling better now x
@@sophiemaduenyi3069 Yes, I am feeling much better now. I have another question I want to ask. The Uvula back of the throat. Will my is long and hanging u can say its sitting on my tongue. Will that be back to normal where it was short? This is actually my 10th day of recovery.
@@viimqh0vviim462 Glad you’re feeling a bit better ☺️. I’m not an expert, but I think it’s probably just swelling that still hasn’t gone down. I think some of the swelling can take months to go down in some cases x
I’ll have a tonsillectomy in the morning 😬 can’t sleep now because I’m too scared, drinking water and trying to enjoy being able to swallow... thanks for sharing your experience 💐
Try not to worry too much lovely, you’ll be fine ☺️

I’m on day 7 and the pain went down to a 7 but I’m so ready for it to be over!☹️
I’m on day 10 and it still hurts to swallow but the ear pain is not as bad and stuff I’ve just been on Tylenol when needed but it was so bad for me day 3-6 were the worst I threw up and it burned and I hardly ate im just glad it’s over with but I’ve been so hungry and I have like nothing to eat and I’m so bored of the stuff I can eat ugh I just want to be able to eat normally again:// good luck to anyone getting theirs out soon:)
on day 1 myself! aloe water is too fire🤩... get a smoothie or fluids in your stomach immediately post-op!!! and take those damn drugs, unless you are against it... i’ve had open heart surgery twice.. very high pain tolerance and that shit still made me tear up until i got the oxy in me! good luck everyone we got this 💪🏽
Got mine in 3 days, the only thing that is on my mind, had my covid-19 test now I’m self isolating watching these videos, hope you have a speedy recovery
How often did you get tonsillitis? I get it around once every 2/3 months? Is it worth having it done? I don’t deal well with long term recovery so I’m really worried😂🥲
Got mine took out 2 day ago. After the op I had to get put back to sleep and they had to stop some bleeding on the throat day 1 recovery wasn’t that bad but now day 2 feel abit worse 😔. Speak soon
This video is so confusing I just got mine out last Friday I haven’t eaten solid food in 7 days, I am in soooo much pain. You are very lucky because this has been HELL for me
Thank you for this video, I’m from the UK also and it’s nice to know what to expect. I’m getting mine removed Tomorrow 🤞
Goodluck! I’m from UK too, it is my 4th days. So far not so bad. Frozen watermelon is my saviour as it reduce swelling, nutritious, and keep me hydrated. Also doctor asked me to eat toast and crackers on day 1 so got used to eating it. He said it acts as “loofa” to disinfect the throat, at first i think he is “psycho” but i am glad he made me eat or i will just be a “baby” and will be too scared to eat hard foods. Hoping day 5 onwards will not be bad. Stay positive😊
@@lmbreal6912 hi, Thank you for the information I’ll take it into consideration, may I ask how long was you in the hospital for? Hope you get well soon! :)
Lol I'm more nervous for the covid test which is on the 3rd & my surgery is 6th Jan. I'm nearly 28, I have had tonsillitis nearly every month since I was 16. It all started when I had glandular fever when I was 15 I had it for a very long time & had nothing but throat problems. (I do have problems with my immune system & I have a low wbc so I get ill so easily). I've had 9 big serious operations...& this operation I'm more scared of lol I dont know whether its because its to do with your mouth or dreading what sort of pain you get. I know when I went for my pre op (which I've had to have 2 for this one as the other was months ago), they said these days they like you to eat normal as possible & to talk, to help with healing. Apparently they had someone who refused to talk & she ended up having an infection. Thank you for doing this video 💙 it has helped hearing from your experience even though everyone is different.
I just got mine out about 15 hours ago and one thing I gotta talk about that’s been horrible for me that like no one has mentioned..My Uvula is so swollen for 1 that it feels like my entire throat is blocked, also.. my saliva is so thick and mixed with mucus, that I am terrified to sleep. I don’t want to choke on my saliva. I am not sure what to do about it, besides swallowing along with pain and trying not to choke on my saliva. It’s a bit torturous. I am not sure if possibly I just salivate more than most people, but it’s all bad. Anyways seeing all this is encouraging. If y’all can do it I can 🙌🏽
I just got mine out yesterday and I’ll be 27 next week. So far so good.
So glad! I hope your recovery is going well ☺️
How was your recovery???
@@nybombay3378 it hasn’t been bad. Today in 8 days out but my throat feels lumpy and super sore when I wake up.
That’s good! Can I ask why you removed them? Are you able to eat solid foods?
@@nybombay3378 i kept getting tonsils stones. Not really. I tried and It’s still pretty swollen back there so i felt like i was choking.
Thank you x
I had my tonsils taken out yesterday so its been over 24 hours. I am not having that much pain right now but I did during the night and it was also very hard to breathe because my uvula was very swollen. I really don’t know what to expect anymore
i got mine out 6 days ago.... My pain has been very very intense... My ear pain has been BAD... I can eat if I am on my pain meds (i have to chew chew chew) but if i am not on my meds it’s absolutely hell trying to even swallow... For me, the pain has been very intense and recovery has been very very slow! Good luck to anyone who is getting theirs out.. It has been hell for me! I hope yours goes better

@@MsGraciie13 So it took mine a solid 4 weeks to heal. I'm okay now...back st work and all. But still struggling with appetite and transitioning to a normal diet. I felt your pain so much during this bc i have strep
And I feel your pain 😩 get better soon x
I was wondering I have had my tonsils out for a long time and I wanted to know the severity of covid on the body if the tonsils are out and which vaccine would be best. I know not having tonsils is dangerous during covid so I thought I would ask? Thanks for any comments?
After surgery and the couple days after the pain wasn't so bad at all, I thought all the nurses and doctors were over exaggerating the pain giving me all these horror stories. Then I met day 5..... please give me my sleep apnea back
FR SO TRUE on day 5 was the most pain I’d rather stop breathing 20 times an hour in my sleep
This is very true
SAME I was like oh my gosh I’m doing fine this is fine.. and then I was in the emergency room and I want them back.
LOL I felt like this the firs two days and then I decided to have soft french toast at the end of day 2 and was grasping at my neck every time I swallowed saliva.
Jus had mine removed and day two looks quite promising...
I’m nervous for my tonsillectomy but I’ve had tonsillitis before and it way worse than strep...way worse. So if anyone that’s had tonsillitis can you say tonsillitis hurts way worse than a tonsillectomy?
Im 18, just got mine out, haven’t eaten in two days, my uvula got to the size of a quarter and very thick. I had to get painful steroid injections in my hip. Takes an hour to get meds down. I can’t talk at all still. I’m trying so hard to get through. And not cry because I know that would make it worse. My doctor said my tonsils were chronically infected and the worst tonsils she’s ever seen.
Wow that’s nuts! I hope you’re doing better now! I’m 17 and getting my tonsils out in November. It’s my first ever surgery and I’m a bit scared for the entire thing tbh. What’s it like being put to sleep?? ❤️❤️
I’m 21 and get mine out Monday along with a septoplasty and adenoidsectomy
Got mine out a couple days ago I’m on day 5 I defently recommend getting up every few hours after sleeping to drink water also maybe get a humidifier I also got my adenoids out along with the tonsils you can’t feel anything for the adenoids but the tonsils for me are the worst it is the worst pain I have ever felt make sure your stay hydrated and eat things like popsicles ice cream and all that cold stuff for the first few days or maybe even a week after it would probably be best to at least try some room temperature mashed potatoes or slightly over cooked Mac and cheese also room temp I would stay away from anything hot also ear pain is expected in fact I have some right now if you feel a really sharp pain in your throat around day 5-10 don’t worry to much it is the scabs starting to fall off some minor bleeding is expected but not guaranteed try eating ice chips like letting the ice dissolve in you mouth the swallowing the water if the bleeding dosnt stop within a few hours or maybe a half in hour you should go to the hospital also scrambled eggs are pretty good to eat but those would probably come later on don’t push yourself to eat it if it hurts to much stay on top of your meds and all of that get plenty of sleep and rest and I wish you the best of luck (also I’m no professional I just did my research mostly listen to what the doctor has to say not me)
@@saturn7739 thank you so much this really helped a lot.I go in tomorrow at 7:30 my biggest concern is since I’m having a septoplasty they mentioned I’m not going to be able to breathe from my nostrils.Do you have pain when you breathe through your mouth?
