I just had my appendix removed and I went to the ER barely being able to walk. I had abdomen pain and felt like my groin was being squeezed and felt I was holding my urine for a really long time. The Doc checked me for a torsion, hernia, and kidney stones, was cleared on all of those and Doc said I was fine and sent me on my way. 6 months later after losing weight, vomiting off and on and more abdominal pain, I returned to the ER. After blood work and CT scan I had a serious infection and my appendix was ready to Burst (again). A 45 minute surgery turned into 3 hours because it was way worse than they had thought. A look back back at that first ER visiting my appendix had ruptured and they missed it. The surgeon that did my surgery was surprised by the scar tissue that had healed over the first rupture and that I had endured this for over six months
Wow, so sorry you had to go through all that. Hope everything is better now!
I'm sorry you had to go through this. I too had a ruptured appendix. I was home for 9 days before I went to the hospital. After 2 days of not being able to find what was wrong they did exploratory surgery and found it had burst. They couldn't believe I loved through it. Bless you, thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching. ☺️ Wow 9 days? Happy to hear that you’re okay!
😮 it is scary to get sick in the US especially with a burst appendix. In Europe you would have had your appendix removed urgently and immediately.
Seems to be a newer practice here to wait to have it removed. It definitely made the whole process so much longer!
@@Tiki_Tee_ yep with the risk of a general infection... great!
In US we have the best medical care. Mine burst and created a abscess. Had a drain put in and strong antibiotics. Healed up and drain removed. Follow up in 8 weeks. Then inflammation will go down. Two scans showed no appendix so it may have obliterated
They remove it immediately it’s just when you come in after a couple days with it or after a couple of hours when you realize that you age to go to hospital
Mine had ruptured and I was in severe pain…they kept asking if I had already had my appendix removed because they couldn’t find it on the ultrasound …it hurt so bad that if they touched me, I’d go crazy and push them away from touching me. I started vomiting green substance and the next morning, they removed it. Worst pain I’ve ever had , and a lot worst than having a baby! As a matter of fact, I just had my last son when two months later the appendix ruptured. I couldn’t walk…had to crawl to my middle sons room to get help when I woke with severe pain that kept getting worse and worse as I laid in bed. It was a very scary experience. I’m glad we only have one of those suckers! 🤪🥹
My mom had her's out when she was 21. She didn't have the classic symptoms. She had generalized pain in her abdomen plus she felt sick. She went to the doctor several times and they finally told her it was all in her head. Not long after it ruptured, she passed out and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. This didn't happen to her in the US, but in the Netherlands, before she immigrated to the US.
That's the nicest recovery room I've ever seen
Your video was so helpful for me. I thought my appendix burst and went to the hospital. I likely didn't though.
I love all your Stitch stuff. Hope you feel better soon! Those 3 things you had to do... I had to that after a surgery and had them done within like 10 minutes of waking up. So, instead of letting me go home, they gave me a pill that knocked me out for another 4 or 5 hours...
Thank you! And oh wow I didn’t even know they could do that 😯
Truth... My brother suffered for 12 plus hours before going to the hospital, he was in such denial, despite me the nurse telling him he likely had an appy!
It’s definitely scary! Hope your brother is doing well now.
Thanks for sharing this. Glad you're doing ok now. Just got home from having mine out in the UK. I too decided it would be a great idea to take a really hot bath at 1am - called emergency services whilst I was in it though when pain got too much so not as relaxing as planned. The guy on the phone suggested I get out. 😂
I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought a hot bath would solve all my problems 😂 Hope the healing from your surgery is going well!
So sorry you had to deal with all of that ☹ I've been dealing with chronic appendicitis since 2012 ☹I'm currently dealing with it flaring up again and it is showing more signs then it has in the past, but not enough for them to take it out yet 😭
It’s wild they haven’t taken it out yet given it’s been so long! Hopefully you can get it out. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made 👏
I don’t know if I have an appendix but my lower right part of the stomach is hurting
Glad you’re feeling better
appreciate it ☺️
You must have some bad ass insurance, that room was nice! I just had my appendix out a couple weeks ago and let me tell you, I've NEVER been in as much pain as I was that first night before I went to the ER. I've had open heart surgery and it hurt less!
Probably the most terrifying thing about this situation was the fact that I had just graduated and was in between jobs, so I didn't have insurance when it happened! I am so incredibly grateful that it did end up being covered due to the situation. And wow! Hope the healing from your appendix has been going well :)
@@Tiki_Tee_ Same to you 😊
when the pain stops after it starts-this typically means it has burst. When it stops hurting and you feel “relief”-is actually a very bad thing
I remember a nurse telling me this. Very scary 😳
They should have removed your appendix immediately with no waiting around
Actually with mine it created a abscess. Going in could have spread the infection. They put a drain in and put me on strong antibiotics. Healed up and drain out. Follow up in 8 weeks when inflammation goes down. Had two scans already showed no appendix. It could have obliterated
Yea she could've died 😢
I’m so sorry this happened - I had a similar situation when I had an appendicitis. It was the day before going to sleep away camp so that god it didn’t die out in the middle of the woods 😅I definetly felt like something was wrong because I was just struggling to walk around. So I went to the ER and I waited 3 hours for scanning and at 12 at night they told me I had to immediately go to this specialist doctor an hour away to go into emergency surgery. I was terrified but it was all worth it in the end when the appendix was taken out (because now there wouldn’t be any panic). The moral of the story is this stuff sucks.
Yes it does 😬 But glad it all worked out!
Omg are you okay? I hope you feel better holy cow thats scary.
Yes! Everything is good now 😎
Thanks so much for posting this! Could you maybe explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!
Yes of course! This was definitely what I was most nervous for too, but it was a pleasant experience. The anesthesiologist I had was a really nice guy who made some jokes and made sure I was comfortable. He let me know when they started to give me the anesthesia (mine was through my IV) and then they gave me this really comfy heated blanket. It was so warm and cozy. I remember slowly feeling really sleepy and then next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room! From my experience, I definitely could not have stayed awake, because it was just really comfy haha. So, I would think of it as taking a really needed and satisfying nap. 😴😌 Hope this helps!
There’s no example of stubborn nature here. ;-) Glad the took care of you so well.
😆
This same thing happened to me when I was 6. It suck but the first time I went to the er then could not find they this Monday I felt way better That Thursday is when i got the surgery I had to stay there for 5 days then could go to school for a week
i'm going through a similar experience finished antibiotics today. did you have an abcess infection? Thank you for sharing too!
Luckily I didn’t have an infection. Hope your healing process goes well!
Mine burst starting of Jan. Had a drain put in the abscess and strong antibiotics. Healed up and drain removed. Follow up in 8 weeks. Two scans showed no appendix so it may have obliterated.
Oh wow 😮 Hope everything heals up nicely!
In US in the military. Was having stomach pains, no appetite. Going to on base Sick Call. Told it was gas. Then indigestion. Then heartburn. As an instructor I fainted giving students instructions. Taken by ambulance to military base emergency room. An older officer medical Dr. hit my right boot with his fist. Diagnosis "hot appendicitis." Getting cut out of my military fatigues straight to surgery. Diagnosis, "perforated appendix." Open surgery, spent 5 days in hospital on antibiotics. I asked if I could be discharged from hospital, as my birthday was in 2 days, and I didn't want to be in hospital on my birthday. Surgical Dr. said. "If you can stand upright and walk down hall and back, I'll discharge you." I grit my teeth, stood upright, and did it. I got released. The next morning woke up, bed covered in blood. Called my neighbor, fellow military friend of mine to go to military ER. Internal stitches had failed. Had to have external clamps removed and restitched internally. NO anesthesia or pain medicines. A roll of gauze in mouth to bite on. This is a true story.
Wow that is wild! Hope you’re better now.
I had my removed 1/28/24 . Removed immediately in the US . Still recovering.
Hope recovery is going well!
How are you waiting for mths before they remove it?! I just had mine removed 2 weeks ago & it is understood to be an urgent & immediate procedure! So sorry that you had to continue the torture for so long.
It was definitely not fun, but the reason behind it was due to how my appendix had burst and also how long it was left untreated after the burst. They wanted to ensure that there was no possibility of furthering infection during the surgery and the healing process after. It was a pain, but it all worked out thankfully :) Thanks for watching!
Since I have really bad period pains I thought my appendicitis was cramps lmfaooo till my mother dragged my ass to the hospital since I haven't ate for days.
That was me too! I just didn’t want to say it in the video. To add to it, they didn’t have regular pads for me to wear at the hospital so they gave me maternity diapers 😭 Talk about bad timing for both of us lol
They gave me diapers as well but the worse thing was I got my period during the operation and woke up with diapers on!@@Tiki_Tee_
I had a bad crazy story too with my appendix. I went to a bus stop and waiting there for 20 min.. Left and that God I did.. There was a drive buy we at bus stop. Meanwhile. I'm in host it'll doc.took care of me.
Yikes 😳 Glad you’re ok!
Mine felt like someone was shooting me.
Yikes! Hope you're all better now.
My stomach was hurting real bad today i thought it was appendicitis but i was just having gas 😂😂😂i fell on the floor from laughing still laughing right now 🤣😅 Glad ur okay now❤❤❤
Gas should not be that painful 😩😆
@@Tiki_Tee_ it wasn't but like I was like too scared which made it kinda painful.......I was overthinking like oh no wth am I going to do...
I'm usually that way too honestly, but of course the one time I wasn't was when it was actually something lol @@sudakshnasudu5312
@@Tiki_Tee_ 😆
@@Tiki_Tee_ I'm just a pre teen so I cannot handle that much pain and i didnt knew that it was really gas ofc how is a pre teen gotta know if it has never happened to me . Im pretty sure u have been thinking I'm a teen 😅
Ade you doing alright after your Apendetis removal Surgery)
Yes! Everything is all healed up now :)
Hope you’re doing well now.
Yes I am! Thanks ☺️
Im scared for mine to explode, think of it everyday
Howw did you notice that your Apendetis exposed?
hey did you notice any digestive symptoms leading up to the appendicitis?
I actually did! I’m not sure if it was related, but it definitely could have been.
●☆● Did you have a rotten taste in your mouth? Like a month before I got sick from my Gallbladder I had a nasty rotten taste in my mouth..After my operation that taste went away
@@skyeblue5669 gallbladder or appendix? i had gallbladder issues after appendicitis
@@skyeblue5669 That I did not have, but that’s interesting. 🤔
What?! They made you wait?!
Yes 🥲
@@Tiki_Tee_ unacceptable! Please remember to advocate for yourself whenever talking to a doctor or medical professional. If you have a medical emergency or medical concern, don’t be afraid to read medical journals and find out about possible complications, and treatments. Medical journals I’ve read that talk about appendicitis state that surgical intervention is needed right away. I would’ve told the doctor to shove his “medical” plan up where the sun don’t shine and to prep me for surgery right away or to get me to a doctor that could or else I would sue him directly for malpractice. A major complication from appendicitis is sepsis and it’s NO joke…bacteria gets into your blood stream and it’s deadly within a few days. The issue with sepsis is that antibiotics don’t often work. “Doctors” these days blow my mind with how ignorant they can be. 😣
mine did burst twice. lol
Oh no 😭
How long did it take for it to burst the second time?? This happened to my 2 year old two weeks ago, he spent 2 weeks in the ICU but he also had an abscess. He was clear to go home with oral antibiotics. He had a follow up appointment with his pediatrician last week and has a follow up appointment with the surgeon next week. I’m so scared it’s going to burst again.
@@tiffaaaanye1 6 weeks after the first time. That sounds scary
