Summary - we take out the tonsils when:
7 severe tonsil infections in 1 year
5 severe tonsil infections in each year for 2 years in a row
3 severe tonsil infections in each year for 3 years in a row or more
1 episode of tonsillitis lasting months
possibly with a peri-tonsillar abscess
Sleep apnea present (OSA)
chronic mouth breathing for concerns of jaw development
muffled speech
swallowing issues
tonsil stones
mass or lesion on tonsil with concern for cancer

I'm on day 4 post surgery, just stay ahead of the pain and hydrate. It really hasn't been THAT bad. Hydrate, ice packs, and rest! You can do this!
Thank you I too am now on day 4 post surgery. I can honestly say it was THAT bad! 😅🤣 I was so unprepared for how much pain I've been in. Pain meds and ice packs all the way! Just sleep through the first 5 days to not have to endure the unbelievable pain! It's so much worse than I expected. BUT! I know the experience is different for everyone!
No pain meds, Florida has passed a law about narcotics. I got baby Tylenol ever 8 hrs. My doctor refuses anything else. The pain is UNBEARABLE

I decided to take a sip of my boyfriend’s coffee because it smelled so good. It was SO easy to swallow warm liquid! It saved me a trip to the ER!

I've had an ENT and a doctor I just went to for Sleep Apnea tell me I have very large tonsils. Also, for the past 5 or so years, I have had a gagging cough that seems triggered by change in air temperature, smell, or physical exertion. I also have had halitosis that leaves a strong sulphuric smell whenever I have a sneezing fit. I also have a terrible snoring issue, hence the sleep study. All three have had an effect on my marriage. I often have to sleep downstairs becaus of the snoring. My wife can't help but wince when I go to kiss her. She will sometimes ask if I had farted, when I have not... sometimes I just say yes, because that is less embarrassing. She also always comments on how unhealthy my cough sounds. I am about to find out the results of my sleep study on Friday. Tonsillectomy was brought up, but later finding out that I may kill three HUGE, awful, life burdening birds with one stone has me elated! I have always been on the urge of breakdown having those things always on the back of my mind, especially the halitosis -as I cannot depend on kisses to make me feel better anymore. Attempting to do so just often makes me feel worse, and no matter how many times I saw the dentist and brushed, it felt hopeless. 2020 has been a rough year, but if I can be rid of these burdens, it just might be the best year of my life!

Just had my tonsils removed. It's day 3 and the pain is just awful!!!! But I'm glad I got rid of them because they were causing me infections every month

@@elperrocovero Get it done if many bouts of TRUE strep throat or actual obstacle when breathing. Tonsil stones can be dealt with. This pain is something else. And yea, can't eat for like 2 days and pain even with cold stuff.

It’s a painful recovery but very well worth it. You won’t regret getting your tonsils removed!

@@ShamanNoodles Awww don't be scared you'll be just fine sweetheart just relax you'll be ok! I felt the same way before my surgery and I'll be 30 years old in 3 weeks so I know exactly how you feel! My recovery was great better than I expected the pain was very severe expecially days 4-9 then I had pain in both my ears which didn't go away till day 10 but it gets better! I was prescribed liquid oxycodone and was told to take tylenol and ibuprofen over the counter since you can't swallow pills after the surgery In order for me to take tylenol or ibuprofen I would smash it on the table with a hammer until it turns into powder then I put it inside some applesauce and it was easy to swallow the pills that way. I took tylenol and ibuprofen every 3 hours which I was told my surgeon and I just alternated the tyIenol and ibuprofen for example I took tylenol and then 3 hours later I took ibuprofen and I took the oxycodone every 6 hours which was AMAZING for the pain! The oxycodone was great for pain expecially when it gets severe! Ask for liquid oxycodone not pills! Once you take the pain medication the pain goes away completely you just feel the pressure when you swallow but that's it! I took oxycodone for 10 days, after 10 days the pain started to go down little by little so I started taking tylenol and ibuprofen only after day 10 I didn't need the oxycodone anymore and the ear pain went away. I had my surgery on June 12th and by June 26th the pain was completely gone! So basically I felt better 15 days after the surgery and I have a very low tolerance to pain I struggled with huge tonsils my entire life so I have no regrets I'm happy I got them out. Buy ice packs at least 8 of them that's what helped me with the pain as well I am actually going to post a video of my tonsillectomy recovery experience and what I ate and drank and things I used that helped during my recovery the video should be posted on my youtube Channel this Saturday or Sunday so be sure to check it out! You'll be just fine they will put you to sleep and your surgery will be quick before you know it the surgery will be over it's a very simple procedure once you get home keep up with your pain meds make sure you eat and drink lots of water and you'll feel better in no time you'll be just fine ❤

Day 7 post op. The pain is definitely hell but you have to play minds games to help yourself push through. Stay on top of you pain meds and antibiotics to help you heal

Thankfully my tonsils were removed when I was 5 years old I remember vividly mid surgery and the recovery process. I also remember Many bad memories of all the infections I had before my doctor removed them. The fever hallucinations i would get I can only describe as acid trips.

I’ve had Strep 61 times in the past 5 years! Now I’m being sent to an ear nose and throat specialist next week because I had strep in September October December and also February! It sucks so bad just happy I might be at a solution!

I'm having the procedure on Thursday. I had Tonsilitis 4 times in 1 month & 5 times in 2 months. Too much time off work, too many antibiotics and too much stressing about my health.
I’m getting my tonsils out next week, because I’ve been getting horrible tonsil stones for nearly two years now. I’m excited to have the procedure, because it means I don’t have to deal with the tonsil stones anymore, but this is the first surgery I’ve ever had, and I am TERRIFIED! Also, I’m really not looking forward to the recovery.

Omg I had my done last week because of tonsil stones I’m so mad. It’s weird that the pain gets worse as the days go by. I have lost 10 pounds, still can’t speak and choke at night and wake up in pain. Only good thing I’m on my 5th day and I have not had any vomiting or bleeding but I developed thrush which was never mentioned to me as a side effect. Good luck .
sha tay I didn’t know thrush was a possibility!? That’s scary! I’m actually slightly excited about the weight loss part. If I lose 10 pounds, I’ll be half way to my goal 😂😂 I hope you have a speedy recovery, though! I’m definitely VERY nervous.
Bethany Wilson how are you feeling? I’m on The 24th day which is much better than that first 2 1/2 weeks which was hell. I can talk now. I still have off and on rawness on the roof of my mouth, dry mouth and I sleep with humidifier. I have very little ear pain. I am not 100%but I’m getting there. You will feel much better once the scabs come off it was like magic.
sha tay I’m feeling much better as well!! I’m on day 15, and I’m almost back to normal. I can almost eat anything, as long as I take small bites and chew really well. I’m glad I’m not the only one that was having issues with chocking at night. I was choking 5-6 times a night, and it would really freak me out! Plus, the drool situation was ridiculous!!! I’m so glad you’re feeling better, and I hope the procedure was worth it for your future health!

I have Severe sleep apnea and my tinsels are 3+ and 4+. My ent is looking at removing mine in the next few month. He is wanting to do a soft pallet surgery.
Will it affect my speech when I will undergo surgery? I keep going to my EENT, Karmellosan seems to no longer works. I have had a 3 high fevers for this year (2 of them just this October recently). I am afraid since I have a fever, canker sore, sore throat, whitey tonsils, and swelling lymph nodes on my neck part. It sounds I'm having COVID-19, but I know it is with my tonsil. I have diagnosed before for having Acute Tonsilitis, but the doctor did not advised for any surgery, just Karmellosan. Please do advise, thanks!
Thank you for this video. My 6-year-old son is having his tonsils and adenoids removed next week because his ENT recommended it after his dentist referred him for severe grinding of his teeth. He has sleep apnea, teeth grinding, snores, and bedwetting (he sleeps so hard that he wets himself and still doesn't wake up). He even sleeps through loud storms. I have struggled with whether or not this was the right decision since it is surgery on my child. You really helped educate me and ease my nervousness about my child's upcoming procedure. I was on my 4th antibiotics in a row and still has a problem, they just didn't work. I have to say stop and have my tonsils removed. This was obviously good example of antibiotics resistance, super exhausting.... I'm on day 10 and since yesterday without any painkillers, feeling quite good already. Don't hesitate or worry, if I have to, I would have tonsilektomy again, so it wasn't really bad.
What if I always have a sore throat all year round and I’m constantly drinking water and gargling water throughout the day
My tonsils ate not enlarged as shown in the images but they are irritated and red. They have been this easy for months now. About one to two years ago I would get strep throat several times a year as well as constant sinus infections. One big change I've noticed is that when I talk for too long or sing a song(literally just one), i feel am uncomfortable pressure as if I had been crying.
If you is interested in cures for tonsil stones the best info that ive ever had was by using the Simons Stone Stopper (i found it on google) without a doubt the most incredible remedy that I have ever followed.

I'm currently having this right now. And school just started and bc of the masks I'm having trouble breathing and it's making me get headaches for lack of oxygen. Currently I'm at home, I just told my parents on what I was feeling and so far we're just speculating that it could be a beginning stage of tonsillitis bc of the swollen ness of the tonsils. We just have to go to the doctor to confirm and talk about what to do to cure it.

Had my tonsils out at age 60. They were huge and was getting tonsillitis up to 5 times per year. After surgery, the pain was terrible and I drank slurpees for 5 days. However it was the best thing I ever did. Strep throat free!

An Obstruction can not only lead to OSA, but also to Upper-airway-resistance-syndrome (UARS), where you don't stop breathing, but still struggle to get a sufficient airflow while sleeping. The symptoms of UARS are pretty bad too, Exhaustion, constant headaches etc.. I will hopefully get my Tonsils out soon, while i am not officialy diagnosed with specifically UARS i have a Diagnosis of Tonsilhyperplasia and Insomnia. My home sleep study did not measure any breathing apneas. I have videos of me sleeping, where you can hear something, most likely in my throat, thuding against something, while i breathe out (Maybe my Tonsils?!?). In one video you can also see that i hardly get enough air in. Thats why i think i have probably UARS. Also UARS is widely underdiagnosed, because its not as easy to measure as OSA. Still the symptoms the patient feels are just as bad. Please be aware that this is also a possibility, so someone like me knows quicker what the source of their suffering may be.

Hi Doctor new subscriber here, I am having problem with this whitish thing ( cobble stone ) left and right of my throat but can't remove them because there is no hole but for some I can remove them if they form, normally when I'm tired or sick, skin gets like harder if you push using stone remover tool and hard to breath as well, only few air is coming in inside my nose. Had a check up and there was no polyps. What it can be? Do I need tonsillectomy?

Would a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy be beneficial to a child with constantly enlarged tonsils and adenoids but very rare episodes of throat pain? Also, if both are removed, isn’t that a large chunk of lymphatic protection gone? Any tips for maintaining good health post removal please?

Pain relief post Tonsillectomy in kids; what do you recommend? Some only panadol & ibuprofen Others (babies even) get charted regular automatic endone 4 hourly or others PRN. Then other kids your near fighting for anything more then Panadol in kids that developed pain / unable to swallow etc. Ibuprofen never was given yet now depending on the ENT its charted for babies/ kids. What’s your standard on this?

Why do we have tonsils in the first place, if they cause so many problems? And what was humans' relationship with tonsils a few centuries ago? Was it also a big or even bigger problem even then? And if not, why is it such a big problem in modernity? Could it be the way our diet has evolved over the years? Apologies for all the questions. I'm just really interested in the topic.
Every body part, whatever the function/purpose, can develop problems. That has always been true. It has nothing to do with diet.

So, recently I had probably about 2 infections on my tonsils this year which they gave me medication the first time and went away but atm they provided me with medication for my current strept and it suppresses it but as soon as I finish my medication it slowly comes back. Never completely gone. So I’m actually going to see a throat specialist to see what he recommends.
This is EXACTLY what happened to me and when I saw an ENT I was immediately scheduled for surgery. I'm so ready!

Questions are; What guidelines do ENT use for paediatric surgeries ??? I’ve not located one that is public or available through the intranet (works medical access bases). 2) Tonsillectomy. Why would “tonsils” be coughed up entirely (burned off with diathermy in OT left inside grade 2-3 in babies). Instead of removed “diathermy” used in what seems like deep burning of the tissues. (It’s definitely not tonsil slough/ scabs or stones). I thought it was tonsil scabs LARGE ones with the professor in ENT verbalising no they are “tonsils”. Day 4 post op that case was & 13 months old. That case had the errored “supraglottoplasty” in that T’s & A’s surgery aswell. Yet OT report stated much different to what transpired. The tonsils were said to be removed. Diathermy was said to be used for bleeding control instead of stitches. The professor again told me off records “they are tonsils”. Everything I thought was off on that kid was right he wanted me to know. However didn’t go into why you’d have tonsils still in & cough them up? 3) why did they use diathermy? Is this something all ENT use in babies under 2/3 years ie

Can a tonsil stuff up one side of the nose and/or cause one ear to feel stuffy???? Im in my late 30s, and for the last year and a half my right side has felt stuffy most of the time, and my ear hasnt been able to equalize properly. My right tonsil has also grown and fallen down into my throat, but not blocked it. I feel like when I swallow my right side isnt the same as my left. So far no ENT has figured out the issue.

I had my tonsils adenoids and base tonsils removed and they fixed my deviated septum and operated on my nasal passages, 2 days ago and I've found that I cant hear properly out of my left ear and cant swallow, so trying to drink water is hard cause it keeps getting stuck and not going down my throat.

I grind my teeth and have trouble breathing. Just found out I have tonsil stones. Can I get my tonsils removed? My throat is really bumpy too :( the main issue isn’t even that I can’t breath it’s the distress. I have OCD and the stones bother me enough that I spend hours a day tearing my throat apart and not eating for days to avoid getting food in the crypts
I started having tonsil stones a few years ago and the holes keep getting bigger. I'm supposed to get them removed on April 5 but I'm freaking out because I have a baby and a year old so the staying still is going to be hard.

I’m 24 and have mild sleep apnea and have had chronic tonsillitis for the last two years. I recently visited a local ENT MD and he almost immediately approved a tonsillectomy in my case. My surgery is scheduled for August 29th. I also have Mitral Valve Prolapse with regurgitation so going under anesthesia worries me. After reading online recently, post-operative bleeds have me pretty freaked out. I requested two weeks off of work for recovery (I work as a manager and auto mechanic) hopefully this is long enough to recover enough to get back to work.

Hi so my 5 year old daughter has really large tonsils but she is never sick or has a problem eating .but she does snore really bad..I'm nervous about the surgery..should I go through with it or wait ? They also say it's a harder recovery if you wait till your child is older ?
I am no doctor, but I feel as if you wait till your child is older the recovery will be more rugged, but I do not know because I've heard younger kids having a less harder time. It's kind of different for everyone, maybe you should ask a local doctor

It depends on why they are enlarged. They are part of the immune system, so sometimes treating an underlying issue can help them shrink. Steroids can sometimes shrink them, but usually only temporarily.

How have u been doing and how old r u? Age sometimes has an impact, I only get them every couple years or so maybe 2-3 since 19, I’m 24 going on 25 in September and I don’t want this getting worse in the future cause I have terrible ocd when it comes to my mouth and crippling health anxiety and a fear of knowing and not knowing what’s wrong with me I know it’s crazy! If it’s a very mild case I’d go to the dentist and see what they think off of looking at them and getting up there better than u could and maybe investing in a water pick which is what I’ll be buying next time I go in for my cleaning on March 10th and I’ve invested in therabreath mouthwash which I heard was good for breath (I never notice anything besides normal morning break and just got done eating breath w me personally) and the break down of stones! There’s also a recipe that called for 2 tablespoons of lemon juice 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and a teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt (check yt for this recipe so u get this right I’m going off of memory) and that seems to work very good from the commenters at making them break down and come out but wash your mouth or take a drink of water after because of the acidity of the mixture! I’m only on my moms insurance until 26 so I’m terrified of having this get worse in the future and not having insurance and also just being older when I do it! The stones never cause pain just a feeling of a popcorn kernel in the back of my throat that’s all no pain accompanied with it but if it’s interfering with your quality of like and breathing as well I’d go to your dentist see if they can refer u to an ent and have them look at it too, if your dentist doesn’t think so but u still think so then call around and find an ent that takes your insurance and go for peace of mind! I had mines removed at 17 and it was the worst! I had lost 8lb at only 100lbs couldn’t talk and missed my last few months of high school. Drinking blended food out of a straw was the hardest even drinking water hurt. My issues lasted for a very long time!

I went for adenotonsillectomy. removal of adenoids and tonsils. I'm 25. and the first week after surgery was hell. Feels like you're swallong blades . it will subside after 1 week. I'm on day 16 and I feel so much better.
i dont if this happened to you but the right side of my throat hurts sooo bad i cant imagine and the left side almost no pain. (after tonsillectomy)

I have an autoimmune disorder henoch Schnolein Purpura so when I get sick it's bad. I've only gotten strep once in my life, I'm 21 but I've gotten tonsilitis maybe 2 maybe 3 times in the past two years. But three weeks ago I woke up with a sore throat and within a day my tonsils got super swollen, my lymph nodes, I had abcesses all in my throat i was throwing up blood and my airway was closing so doctors performed an emergency tracheotomy, they told me I almost died. I believe maybe the swelling had to do with my disorder but usually when I get really bad flare ups it's on my legs so I'm not sure. I never had something like that happen to me, in regards to almost dying from something like that especially that fast but they told me if might be a good idea to remove my tonsils. They didn't remove mine all the did was cut them to remove all the pus. I've been looking up as much as I can about a tonsillectomy and I'm going to talk to my doctor's but I'd like to ask if you would think it would be better to do it?
I'm sorry to hear about the dramatic situation. Getting an abscess is not that unusual, but requiring an emergency tracheotomy is almost unheard of for this issue. Taking out the tonsils when they are actively inflamed like that is a terribly difficult and bloody procedure. The standard practice is to typically drain the abscess and clear the infection with a plan to come back at a future (calmer) date to actually take out the tonsils. One episode of abscess does not always mean we take the tonsils out. In your case, they probably recommended it because it was so dramatic and severe. From your description, tonsillectomy is certainly something worth considering.

Hi Dr liu, there is a recent study that show that people without tonsils are more prone to upper airway infections. Is tonsillectomy still safe in the long run
The study results show an association, but not causation. Most of us are not remotely surprised that the kids who needed tonsil and/or adenoid surgery are more prone to "respiratory, infectious, and allergic diseases" because the tonsils and adenoids are part of the immune system. These types of issues lead to tonsil and adenoid problems. So whether or not these kids get their tonsils or adenoids out, they are going to be the ones that continue to have more issues than the general population. I personally don't feel that the issues are caused by the surgery, but by the underlying physiology and immune function of the patient. "CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: In this study of almost 1.2 million children, of whom 17 460 had adenoidectomy, 11 830 tonsillectomy, and 31 377 adenotonsillectomy, surgeries were associated with increased long-term risks of respiratory, infectious, and allergic diseases. Although rigorous controls for confounding were used where such data were available, it is possible these effects could not be fully accounted for. Our results suggest it is important to consider long-term risks when making decisions to perform tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy."
I'm a 45 year old and I had my tonsils removed for osa last year. I've got more flu and cold which I never had before. Could I be one of the rare cases that needed tonsils to quickly fend off infections before it develops into more serious kind of infection.

And this is my first surgery for my throat, And... I ate chicken on the first day, But I chewed well..... it’s getting a bit hard to breathe, but I hope it’s worth it. In general, it is not dangerous. It is always, however, a really tough recovery. Without any details into your general health, it is impossible to answer this question for you. You could, however, ask your primary care doctor about the general risks of surgery and anesthesia.

I'm 26 and my tonsils get super swollen and bock my airway a lot of the time. I have to take really deep breaths to get sufficient air and get them about 3 times a year and I'm very careful with washing my hands, being clean, and wiping surfaces. Do you guys think removing the Tonsils is worth it? I know the recovery would be painful as hell but I'm tired of airway blockage and needles poking my throat ( not including fevers, etc). I've been having this since i was 12, they advised my mother to remove it but she said no when i was at a young age. I've never had any issues with my tonsils or throat infections in general, however I had a very random and serious polymicrobial infection with strep group C...I wasn't responding to antibiotics (and allergic to penicillin) after 7 days of not eating and barely drink I went to ER, i had a bilateral peritonsillar abscess (that's when they took the culture) -- the ENT I was sent to told me he needed to do a tonsillectomy, I tried saying no multiple times but was persuaded into the procedure. I am now experiencing paramount of issues, 60 days out. --- my question, why would am ENT be so insistent on the tonsillectomy if there's been no history ? And will I ever feel normal again!? - I have a constant scathing dry feeling, and pain when swallowing, my tongue has lost its flexibility, posterior papillae are swollen, gross metallic taste constantly, can't taste my food accurately, vocal changes and can't sing yet, and the feeling that something is stuck at the back of my throat, constant and worsens at night. I'm so devastated. Any information would be a huge blessing !
Sorry to hear about your struggles. Your situation is certainly rare with bilateral PTA. One episode of severe infection can be enough of an indication for surgery. I can't speculate in your personal circumstance though. Some PTA are managed medically, some with needle aspiration, some with incision and drainage, some with tonsillectomy. Every situation is different. It is also entirely possible that your symptoms are from having had an infection bad enough to require surgery in the first place. There may or may not still be changes/improvement, and I would recommend contacting your surgeon about your ongoing issues. Hope you get better soon.
Or your ENT is a "cut happy" surgeon like I feel mine was. He didn't even ASK if I'd had a history of infections. Was they were a bit larger than normal and das it!

I saw an ENT for 5 mins and he wants to do a tonsillectomy. I have one tonsil that is larger than the other with ear and jaw pain on that side and intermittent swollen lymph nodes. My throat has been inflamed for over 18 months. I'm hesitant to get my tonsils out since they are part of the immune system, but I'm also afraid it may be cancer. Are there any other tests I can do before going straight to the tonsillectomy? The doctor didn't do a scope and a CAT scan revealed nothing.
Blood tests and scans can tell you if something is "bad" when they are abnormal. Blood tests and scans can never guarantee that something is not "bad".

@@julieannbrown7226 I canceled my tonsillectomy bc i found out i am pregnant again. Still have the same issues and am worried, but can't do anything right now anyways! I'm actually thinking some of the throat issues are related to EBV. I know it's not good to put concerns off, but for now, that's where I am. Please share if you end up finding anything out!

Dear Doctor. I was a singer. When i was 34 I had a tonsillectomy. After that my falsetto or head voice range decreased of almost one octave. Half range. Never came back. What could go wrong? I have not Adenoids since when i was a child. Im 47 now. Thank you
I know I’m not the doctor but a lot if not everyone who gets theirs out says it changes your voice cause you have more room back there, if you just know how your new voice sounds I think you can look up some good throat exercises to maybe hit those octaves again!

Seems like i have no issues in the borders of my vocal folds and this is strange. I can phonate in almost every kind of position of the laryngs .. up...down...neutral...compressed...decompressed.....relaxed...mix...false chords...inhaled exhaled etc. But nothing the range keeps being the same. Nobody understands what's the problem. I posted 2 videos of the stroboscopy . My feeling is that....could be something so simple to be invisible. It s so frustrating........

One day i also tried a skin hydrating cream of a she friend o mine who uses it for body shower ahahhaha. Nothing. No results. I think the problem is biomechanical connected to the pharynx. Pharynx is underestimated in my opinion for the range problems. There are more than 150 muscles involved in the singing and even just talking phonation. For not talk about nerves n cartilages. Participating all together it all works. U damage even just one and there's no harmony anymore. Just like walling. It s so easy to walk but it involves hundreds of body parts. Even the ears.....

chachee15 yes! I’m 11 and getting mine taken out in 2 to 3 weeks cause I have VERY bad sleep apnea and my sis had it to and it helped straight away so I’m excited to get mine out!

hi i have to remove my tonsil in the next 33 days i had tonsilitis 3 to 4 time in one mounth last year and now am not getting it at all but some time it feel like i can not breathe and my chest hurt some time do u think i should take it out
Tonsils are rarely life threatening, and considering the surgery is frequently about quality of life concerns and trying to limit episodes of infection (especially if they require antibiotics). At the end of the day, if you're suffering a lot from them, the surgery and recovery is miserable, but predictable and short term.

@@sarahlee5021 Infections are just one reason to remove the tonsils. Infections are not the only reason. The video goes into many other reasons why we would consider removing tonsils.

I feel like my tonsils aren’t big, but I choke, cough and gag almost every time I eat or drink. I also get tonsil stones all the time. I finally set up an appointment after 4 years of coughing and gagging everyday. And I think the tonsil stones effect dental hygiene even though I brush, floss and use mouthwash. I guess I’ll see what happens 🤔

Im 32 now and i use to have tonsillitis when i was 7, but now this is a second time in less that 3 month that im getting this with high fevers like 103 no joke...it makes me weak and seek, do you think i should consider removing them?...thanks in advace

@Rocker they help in fighting infections. Also without them there its two giant holes in your mouth.
Currently on my 5th round of strep in 11 months and have an appointment with the ent in a couple days. Really hoping for a tonsillectomy. Strep and all these antibiotics are ruining my life 😩
