@@AegixDrakan Funny thing is that Gotham Knights actually is a decent game. It sure has flaws but at least it delivered a solid story and some nice missions and a bit of variety.
@@KendorjiaYeah, from what I hear, if it didn't have the garbage loot/level progression, felt more populated, and gave you all the mobility stuff from the start, it could have been a really great game. :( And that makes me sad.
WB’s execs are pretty oblivious on being able to make good movies with these IP, why should video games be any different? They are horrible at managing these characters with the occasional accidental success.
@AegixDrakan 100%! Gotham Knights, at it's core, is quite good but they buried it under stupid systems and it got rightfully criticised. With this game, instead of listening they made it even worse. Kept all the crap ideas and took out the good bits. How they could get it so wrong is beyond me. WB just doesnt listen to the gaming community at all....
Let this be a lesson. Reputations take years to build up, and seconds to destroy.
WB will learn all the wrong lessons from this. “Oh so you wanted a Superman live service shooter instead?!”

Rocksteady didn't jump from making masterpieces straight into Suicide Squad. Anyone remember Gotham Knights?
@@TheWitsaw Rocksteady didn't develop Gotham Knights, that was WB Montreal . The last thing they developed is Arkham VR, which is barely a video game. So they essentially did jump straight from Arkham Knight into Suicide Squad, which took them almost a decade.
At least Aquaman was spared being in this.

They hold alot of the blame as well. A badly developed game is usually made by bad developers or ones who had no idea how to make this type of game.

Fornite has ruined the industry. Games are more expensive and they want that golden goose of people buying all that loot instead of individual games, cause that is a lot cheaper. But man fornite was a one in a million opportunity that can't be replicated

@@JK_of_Today I'd call it "desperation." In the back of every executives' mind, they know that we've reached the saturation point; there really aren't any 'untapped markets' anymore. And they can't bear the thought of not making millions more every year than they did the previous year, even though those days are long gone.
When the Rocksteady devs said: "What are we, some sort of Career Suicide Squad?" and got ordered to develop this game, it was truly one of the moments of all time!
Definitely, that's why the game has made 500 morbillions in revenue

This game may have destroyed the Arkhamverse and Rocksteady's reputation, but at least we finally get to play as King Shark in a videogame. Totally not worth it, but still.

The thing i don't understand is why are all of them using guns when each has their weapons of choice? Harley uses a hammer, Captain Boomerang uses boomerangs, and Killer Shark is a weapon. Deadshot is the only one that actually uses guns.
Just now you have put more thought into this game than their entire design team.
Harley does use a revolver, but she's well known for the hammer and/or bat.
This is one of the major reasons that killed my hype for this game. Why would they have Deadshot in a game where they all have guns? Harley and King Shark are both brawlers. And boomerang has a unique weapon that would’ve functioned similarly enough to the batarang, which they already had the mechanics for. 🤦♂️
Because you are meant to swap between them, so they all need to play basically the same so you don't need to suddenly learn a whole new skillset. Or, laziness and honestly thats probably why, as its a lot easier to do it that way. same with levelling up, its all nonsense, the gameplay barely differs from the beginning to end.

The moment you realize the plot and idea of this game is a lesser version of Lego DC Villains.
That was easily one of the best Lego games. I got it on PS+ and managed to platinum it just a week before my subscription expired.
At least there they just used the Justice Syndicate, which is basically just the Justice League but are all evil.
At least the Lego games actually tried to expand the universe in a meaningful way.

Someone over at WB must reaaaaaally love Suicide Squad because they keep trying to make it a thing and they keep getting egg all over their face. Even when they make something critically acclaimed like that 2nd SS movie it became a commercial failure. That property can’t catch a break and should be left to rest because who could’ve predicted that working for 8 years on a game about Captain Boomerang and a Shark wasn’t a good idea???

@@h24anderant64 I don’t think it ever was particularly popular but neither was Guardians of the Galaxy until the movie made them a household name. But GOTG hit it big on their first try. Suicide Squad keeps trying and failing. You could argue the first SS did make a lot of money but it was a critical failure and people didn’t come back for the 2nd movie (or this game) so no lasting appeal at all.
Funny thing is that the Harley Quinn show managed to do a good "Suicide Squad" even though it's only referenced in that show on a T shirt. They maybe didn't INTEND to have the usual gang (Harley, Ivy, Dr. Psycho, Clayface, and King Shark) be like the Suicide Squad, but they certainly received MORE characterization and were actually likable compared to the live action and video game counterparts. I don't know what it is that makes their animated properties so much better than their movie or game properties, but the writers definitely seem to be better in their animation department.

@@juanluismendoza8655 I think they really want a completely clean slate. His SS movie was indeed superior but it was a BO bomb so why go through the fort of keeping that in the new universe? Add to that that Margot Robbie won’t want to play HQ anymore so why even bother?
They really killed the Arkhamverses' Justice League in the same game introducing them. That immediately wasted potential for several games. And they didnt even include the full league. Aquaman, Martian Manhunter and Cyborg are nowhere to be seen.
It's almost like Rocksteady lived long enough to seem themselves become the villain.

Yeah I do wonder if game companies will try to double down on these mistakes or will someone somewhere get a light bulb moment “what if we just focused on giving them the most possible fun game for a single price at launch”
Because a single price at launch sold to a customer is *small* compared to the amount that a consumer will sink into a live service game.
And they need to make it a legal requirement worldwide that all games must have the option of an offline mode in case online servers are one day shut down.

It's amazing how the people highest up and making the most money keep constantly making the same mistakes over and over and over again thinking that they're going to sell a game and get quick cash by selling an inferior product somehow they keep making Bank off of it and we all keep telling them how much we hate it.

Just seeing videos of other people suffering through this is enough to make me have no interest because the visuals alone look like someone vomited them onto the screen.
Well, crap like Diablo immortal made half a billion dollars in 3 months. Thats what they're chasing. They want to turn players into payers that they can drop easily when profits dry up. Most of them ignore games like Warframe, which have retained a healthy player base which is pretty happy, with extremely optional microtransactions and has been going for some years now.
Because they don't make money on selling games, they make money selling stocks and shares generated from those games.
In honor of Helldivers getting so popular can you do an EDF video?
Man I am so hyped for EDF 6. Although, it's a bit of a shame the global release got delayed until summer.

I actually believe this game could have been better if the executives at Rocksteady didn't force it to be a live service game. It's pretty obvious that developers across the board don't like making live service games.

I just realized with so many videos I see of this game. The dev just tried to use the Boderlands concepts to make this game. The dialogue, the flashy things, humour. It's just stupid that they thought it was a good idea to put it in a universe with super heroes...

to be fair, the game has the exact tone a Gunn style movie would have. Doesn't really change the fact the game handled its live service and story aspects VERY poorly

When I see a game in DC Universe it makes me miss Kevin Conroy so much. I got a voice acting background and have to say that his voice has been such an inspiration for me since the Batman the Animated Series. The vocal training was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but actors like him are a great impulse to not give up. You almost saw me as Leon in those new RE games :)

For those who don't know, this isn't even the same Rocksteady. None of the main creatives who worked on Arkham Knight were involved in SS. They're basically Rocksteady in name only.

I look forward to season 1. After finishing s0, there really isn't much to do. 3 more incursion missions aren't groundbreaking, but hey, some variety, new characters, bug fixes, and more stories could definitely save this. Just look at how Cyberpunk was received on launch...
I mean, fair about cyberpunk, but also, it had a much better launch (even if buggy and awful) and an appreciated plot as a minimum. SS:KtJL didn’t even that that, so the odds of salvage are low
@Delmworks better launch? In what world? My brother in christ, it got taken away from the ps store for being too broken, and refunds were through the roof. Literally messiest release i've ever seen, and i've seen the release of Gollum💀 Cyberpunk's story was insanely good, but that's the thing - the story of ktjl isn't over. Idk where it's headed, i know their story will never rival Cyberpunk cause, i mean... what game can? Bottom line, if Cyberpunk can claw its way all the way into getting a sequel the way it released, there's definitely hope for ktjl

This Game is a Disgrace to Comic Book, Gaming, and Arkham Fans Rocksteady, WB, Baby Inc., and DC should be ashamed of Themselves, they should have plugged this Abomination when they had the Chance the Moment it was announced and the Delays didn’t Help, we rather have a Superman, Batman Beyond, and A Justice League Game Anytime.

According to an ex-dev the script was mostly complete before Sweet Baby Inc was brought on. I honestly don't understand why no one's considered the possibility that the story for a live-service co-op looter shooter just wasn't written well to begin with regardless of the consulting team.

Hey just pointing that out, the first Suicide Squad movie is an Oscar winning movie.
An Oscar for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. As great as the makeup looks, that does not compensate for terrible writing and storytelling. Suicide Squad 2016 is a terrible film.

Yeah, it's realistic that The Riddler would put out a bunch of trophies to solve & collect... But is it realistic that *these* would be the target demographic of his trophies? He thinks he's way smarter than he is and wants an _intellectual_ rival. He would absolutely be putting them out for Brainiac.
Goes to show the ones who worked on this game didn't understand the material they're working on. They just thought that since there were Riddler puzzles in the Arkham trilogy that they should put it in here as well. Coz it's a reference. And they want to be patted on the back for placing it.
Maybe he put them out for brainiac and the ss is just stealing them bc yes, sure there’s the time trials that do seem to be for the ss but the trophies just contain information about people and are hidden, but I wasn’t paying much attention to the segment that talked about them so idk
