The Dodge Demon 170 and Tesla Model S Plaid are two incredibly powerful cars, each showcasing different technological approaches and strengths. The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 boasts an impressive 1,025 horsepower and 945 lb-ft of torque, making it one of the few gas-powered production cars with over 1,000 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.66 seconds and complete a quarter-mile run in 8.91 seconds. These figures are achieved on a prepped surface with E85 fuel, marking the Demon 170 as one of the fastest production gas-powered cars ever.
The 2023 Tesla Model S Plaid produces slightly less horsepower at 1,020 but demonstrates the advancements in electric vehicle technology. It features a tri-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD) setup and achieves 0-60 mph in about 1.98 seconds under favorable conditions, and completes the quarter-mile in approximately 9.25 seconds at 152.6 mph. The Plaid's electric powertrain delivers power quietly compared to the thunderous roar of the Demon 170's supercharged V8 engine.
Both vehicles represent pinnacle achievements in their respective domains: the Demon 170 as a final act of defiance from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) muscle cars and the Model S Plaid as a beacon of electric vehicle performance and efficiency. The choice between them would largely depend on personal preferences regarding electric versus ICE, driving experience, and the intended use of the vehicle

  • This is what racing is supposed to be like. Two friends just seeing how it goes on race day.

  • Doesn't have to be ICE vs EV crowds. As a car enthusiast, I own both types and enjoy them for what they are. Today it went to the Plaid, but I'll rock with most anything that has wheels and motorized. Cheers for the races!

  • RacerX is literally what every car guy should strive to act, and be more like. He’s so genuine and kind. Need more of that positivity!

  • For the demon being rear wheel drive only, the demon is a very impressive car, the times, torque, speed.

  • WOW....A five-seater sedan beating a dedicated quarter mile car !!

  • Im a mopar fan to the bone..built lotsa 600+ hp cars, gearhead from birth. A 170 demon, gutted interior supercharged e85 car made a lot of noise in this video. Demon nailed his 2nd launch..that was as good as he could do in that car, period. Tesla plaids 9.3 quarter is amazing..and it can do it all day on the same tires, no e85 and in silence. Great video

  • It boils down to how much power you can put the ground without spinning the tires! Nice video guys!

  • People who be making excuses for a laser focused modified drag car being beaten by a stock four door family sedan for less money be wild to me 😂

  • Easy win for the plaid! Had a feeling the 170 would be hyped just like the demon and underperform in the real world. Still a good race! Should put it up against a Turbo s or your sf90!

  • Love the conversation between you guys after the race! Enjoyed watching this.

  • Any change to your suspension, since ‘lower’ video? Still using the signature adjustment rods? Ordering tomorrow ;)

  • The Demon could never actually do what dodge said in the real world for 99% of the customers and I always doubted the 170. Bradenton is one of the best prepped tracks in the country too.

  • It would’ve been nice to see both of them hook up perfectly. It was nice that you gave the ice car time to cool down so it could get out there to race again. 😂

  • This was an awesome, exemplary demonstration of real racers!

  • Although some may dislike it, the Plaid is truly incredible. It's hard to believe that a family car can perform like this, but the numbers don't lie. I may consider it in the future, but for now, I'm sticking with my Boosted Model 3 LR.

  • Nothing but respect to RacerX and Brooks, I love that two American cars with a ton of power and both fun as hell, love both cars and what a time to be alive as an enthusiast, go team America! Don't hate on anything, promote fun!

  • I'm impressed with the challengers pull. The challenger has stood the test of time. Beautiful car. My brother had a 1971 RT factory orange with white interior white vinyl top. It had white RT stripes on sides .383 magnum with Hurst pistol grip 4 speed. That was a bold looking car . It loved gas . Pretty quick red light to red light. Love those Mopar magic cars.😊
