Jet Powered Go-Kart (Top Speed Run)

2024 ж. 17 Мам.

I Built another Jet Go-kart just to see what the Top Speed of the single Engine Jet-powered Go-kart is.
In the previous jet go-kart video I did everything except for a top-speed run, so here it is, I thought it was kind of weak because I was expecting a lot more but the wind resistance is much stronger than You think it would be.
I am editing this video after a Brain injury I sustained recently, so I'm not seeing things exactly the same way I used to right now, I hope this video is edited well lol.
let me know what you think and wish me luck on posting more videos! these are pretty difficult sometimes.

  • I was wondering about the top speed when i watched that original vid. Tbh i thought it would be a bit faster, i was able to get to 41mph on my own jet kart with a smaller engine and it was still accelerating, but i got sketched out.

    @dapz@dapz8 ай бұрын
    • Yeah I think I remember that, I also thought it would have been much faster like over 80 mph. But it was definitely on the balance point and the wind resistance was definitely doing its thing. I think with some more aerodynamics it would have probably done 70 or 75, but honestly if I want to go faster I'll just put more engines hahaha.

    • I saw a guy who was trying to break the world speed record with a RC car having to do a bunch of things similar to what would hold back the speed from air drag That dudes problem was tires, it’s prob a combination of road type and tires 40 mph with a jet engine is pretty sketchy, idk how the dude did 60 mph in one, I bet a pothole or bump is a nightmare

I haven’t found a single video on the Internet that shows the output side of a turbo when it’s being run by exhaust of an engine. • That was crazy cool !! If you added aerodynamics of any sort, I'm sure you could increase the top end, but not by much. • That was very impressive ! I was not expecting that level of speed and performance from only one of those engines. That jet engine packs a punch with out a doubt ! At those speeds with that amount of fuel sloshing around not to mention a smoking hot jet engine, you might want to get a nomex suit or the likes. Just my 2 cents.

  • That is a great little kart. I can't imagine what three of those motors would push you to. Question: I notice the jet engine is quite close to the air intake of the engine. I would venture to guess that there is possibly intake issues. I would think if you could build an air intake system for the front of the engine, you might be able to go even faster. Great video.

    • It seems that way but this engine is a turbo jet, it won't really benefit much from any sort of RAM air, most of the thrust on these engines comes from the fuel, They don't pull in as much air as you think they do And the only time that location would be an issue is if you were doing 200 or 300 mph And it was creating a vacuum behind the seat. But if there were air intake issues those engines stall when they don't get enough air.

  • People don't realize how fast things go by when you're that close to the ground. It's a matter of perspective. It doesn't seem like you're going that fast in the jumbo jet at 30,000 feet in the air even though you're doing over 500 miles an hour. The ground is just so far away. When you're sitting literally inches above it amazing how quick it goes by. That looked like a lot of fun. Cool video

  • Could be a great video series idea: make a top speed salt flats jet go cart world record

    • True but I'm sort of scared of doing any top speed anything, I mean it's cool for the books and the numbers but when accidents happen at top speed they are usually very bad.

  • Would the top speed change significantly if you put the jets intake in full air flow, so not right behind the vaccuum you create with your seat and body? I'm curious about what that would do to the total thrust.

    • Thanks, it was insanely painful for almost 2 weeks straight, I can't explain how intense and unbearable the pain was non-stop continuous. But I actually made it and I'm currently recovering, all I can tell you is a brain injury is no joke, it's really hard for me to explain how you pretty much have no control over what your brain is doing.

  • Wow! I think a duct into the jets intake to take advantage of ram air at higher speeds would really help the peak thrust and top speed. Right now the jets intake is in a vaccum region which is fighting performance

    @QuintonNG2000@QuintonNG20008 ай бұрын
    • That's what u would think but these are turbo jets, They don't pull in as much air as you would expect, most of the power from these engines comes from the fuel, If they don't get enough air they stall, that's pretty much it. I do however wonder if an air intake would increase the efficiency. See because no matter what these engines are RPM based, they're going to dump fuel until they reach the target RPM or stall in the case of not getting enough air. I'm definitely going to experiment with that
