  • Larry and Magnus have such similar energy, just honest and humble with just a little bit of awkwardness that makes them more relatable. They make a great combo in this video, would love to see Magnus go train with Larry some time soon

    • They appear to be on the more analyical side. Eddie didn't really break anything down - just listened - Larry liked explaining and dissecting in the same way Magnus explains...I found Magnus' explanations in this video were of higher quality, probably for the compatibility factor.

  • I love these kinds of videos. First of all, Larry and Eddie have both been just super kind and friendly which is cool to see. But it’s also interesting to see these very strong and muscular men try climbing. @petrichor9279@petrichor9279 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Oatmea1Lprofessional bodybuilders are strong. If you watch them train they lift more than 99.9% of people. Mostly with climbing it's a combination of technique and power to weight. They're super heavy, so it makes it super hard for them to climb. That's basically it. I think it'd be more interesting to get people on who specialise in similar disciplines to climbing, or in disciplines which are helpful for climbing. Think about it : "His success is build on becoming strong by taking all kind of peds in absurd amounts" not really someone i personally can look up to. • @@Aaron86v I don't know Larry's background, but I do know that Eddie Hall was a champion swimmer when he was a teenager and still has a sub 30-second 50 meter freestyle. He's big but is very athletic despite his size.

      @GlizzyGoblin6969@GlizzyGoblin6969 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Aaron86v Yeah, Larry needs to work on his muscle group integration... Absolutely from his discipline which only has synthetic and disjoint forms... His body is pretty godlike, but there's nothing better than power to weight flexible functionality...But if he has that body already, he's only a few months away from becoming unstoppable...imagine if someone like Larry went full on with things like climbing, swimming, gymnastics, or MMA without modifying their other training...The body would naturally find the best average between the two tasks... If you look at the moment in the video where he was gripping that purple start and magnus said to rotate around the shoulder - not pull - you can see Larry is probably doing 10x the effort just for trying his naive way...Definitely goes to show Eddie's more natural strongman applied... I think Eddie is a "just doer" too, I've found most of the intuitive atheletes can't explain what they do, they just do it - Larry is more cerebral, and being that way myself, I know that one's mind can rule the body simply by frayed consternation. You hear Larry explaining what and why..he's processing too much, Eddie seemed to just be a bull that tried being concerned with why he's struggling. It's almost like for beng able to explain, that conscious awareness impinges upon the speed at which you can be dexterous and thus the quality of your rapid decision making. It's like a watched pot never boils... Things that should happen instantly and subconscious get explained with your iteration and in that focus you wasted precious thought processing that should have been just utilized to move, not think about moving, why it's struggling, etc... I compare it to using a debugger in programming development.

    • @@Aaron86v Eddie hall learned to generate momentum out of positions incredibly quickly, I was really impressed with his natural athleticism. He was swinging and deadpointing to catch holds within just a few climbs. There were climbs where he was squeezing two footholds in opposite directions at times too, something you'll never see a beginner do, and his pace of moving feet was really good. Its really cool seeing the caliber of athlete there is underneath that much muscle with the WSM guys.

  • I think what I appreciate most about these videos is your expression of the climber ethos: be super supportive to all new comers no matter their skill level and help them identify their strengths. Thanks for modeling that for KZhead universe, Magnus

  • Absolutely love Larry! An incredible athlete in so many disciplines, but also incredibly humble and willing to admit when something is difficult for him. He's been a great positive ambassador for his sport for many years - I have a lot of time for him! Also Magnus being a great coach (and absurdly good climber) as always😂

  • total joy to see larry wheels here. seeing that these total superhumans have some struggles too is very interesting. i loved seeing his analytical brain at work. it shouldn't really be surprising to me, but he has this meditativeness and humbleness about him that I assume is an extension to how powerlifting and working out in general is about constantly working to overcome yourself

  • This is the perfect definition of confidence, not cockiness. Larry knows what he's good at and he'll admit it, but he's also so open to help and criticism from Magnus because he knows Magnus is good at what he does.

  • I used to be athletic my whole life but chronic stress and life has crippled me, however, thanks to your passionate example, even though I’m at the worst fitness ever and have always been afraid of hates, I have just booked my first bouldering session at the end of this month. Thank you Magnus.

    • So happy for you! Coming from someone who has always had social anxiety, especially surrounding athletics, bouldering has been so welcoming! Most gyms the people are really nice and open to giving advice and conversation

    • Nice! I hope you'll have a lot of fun. I'd like to give you one tip if you don't mind. Find a comfortable hold for your hands and just practice placing your feet effectively. All different angles etc and learn how much grip those shoes have in these angles. Might save a lot of energy. 💪

    • Good on ya, Nia. Magnus does have this effect, doesn't he! I'm 64, been climbing a few years and totally love it. Every bouldering gym I go to I find people really friendly and always willing to give advice if I ask for it, from people my level to really top climbers. Super friendly and supportive. Aim to have fun, watch others and learn, and the progress will follow. The only failure is not trying!

  • I love these guys! They're such an interesting mix of humility, competitiveness, and confidence. Their mindsets are just different from your average Joe. I think the way their brains work is a big part of what makes them champions. Love your videos Magnus! The quality of what you put out is unparalleled. Much love brother!

  • Yo this video was SO GOOD! Larry is such a chill guy, the vibe felt really off with Eddie but Larry was listening, making visible progress when applying technique and also highlighted Magnus and gave him opportunities to showcase his strength, what a great presence and it seemed like you got along pretty well. Also his intuition on the wall is mad, I'm kinda blown away with how well he climbed, his bodyweight placement and everything. Just really good intuition overall, what a guy. Would love to see more videos with this pairing
