The Guys Discuss Klopp’s Kids Beating Disappointing Chelsea | Carabao Cup Final Reaction | EP 87
How does Jurgen Klopp continue to get the very best out of his players, even when their backs are against the wall? Could Chelsea have done more and been more committed in going for the win? Are managers going over the top with some of their celebrations after matches now?
Gary, Alan and Micah also discuss team-mates fighting after Sheffield United’s Vinicius Souza and Jack Robinson clashed at Molineux.

Wataru Endo, man of the match. He and Van Dijk showed the fight and calmness that got Liverpool and the academy players over the line. Chelsea had their moments but lacked some character in the crucial moments.
Exactly sir. None of the younguns that came on did anything special, the old heads won that for em. No excuses for Chelsea tho
Kelleher, Endo were MoM VVD, Endo, Diaz were leading the boys
Konate was the best player on the pitch and the guy who lead that defence on sunday
@@bartman01021988agree very underrated, especially when Jackson was through on goal and he recovered on a yellow was insane
@@josephjoestar995 That recovery run at 100% was incredible to see
Bloody Caicedo doing in the ankles of both Gravenberch and Endo... ffs 😤
Konate needs a shout. I never really rated him but this season he’s been an absolute wall. The tackles he has put in, yesterday as well. Idk what Klopp and his team do behind the scenes but blimey the whole team is amazing. Well done to the kids as well. Such a joy to see that
he is still young but his level is very high
Konates' recovery is amazing.
He was superb last season also when he got in the team... hr is the heir to vvd
Jackson would have been through on goal of not for Konate, VVD was jogging back while Konate 100% sprinting to put in a PERFECTLY timed tackle.
How did you never really rate him? One of the most promising young French defenders coming through the youth ranks. Remembering French youth talent is absolutely stacked too…
As he was mentioned, I'd love Alan Hansen on the pod, the absolute nostalgia hit of him and Gary would be awesome
I’d love that, but he’s pretty much retired from all that kind of stuff now. I’ve met him a couple of times at Anfield and he’s lovely, but he apparently used to get awful stage fright before doing TV work or anything. An icon, though!
@rfreak92 This isn't TV though it's a podcast. Lawrenson would be another name they could bring on, get the gang back together.
Brilliant idea! They should ask him to come on for an episode
The fact Shearers sitting in the back of car yet still choosing to do it for is all shows the level of commitment!!! Enjoy what we’re able to have as it’s what they’re able to give us!
i thought he was driving it himself!! I was like, "dude, park the car first for your safety"
Endo cost 16m Just what rashford getting paid per year
Win OR lose Klopp still goes to every single player at the end of a game and hugs them: It's never going to be more apparent how much of a disaster that our manager is leaving, than it was on Sunday. It's quite obvious now that Klopp was building a club, not a first eleven, building for the future, a future that he will not now be a part of.
100% agree with all of you! VVD was probably the tallest player on the pitch! Justice was served in the end…as for the atmosphere? What a boost and experience those young players can relish! They’ll want more of that! Another sweet example that £££ can’t buy trophies…

Konate has been INSANE this season. I knew he would blow up and he hasn't disappointed. I think he's brimming with confidence at the moment and in excited to see him keep up the good form.
Lineker is so humble for a player of his stature. It's amazing to see.
Lucho was my motm and never stopped going forward and a constant threat throughout the whole game and for me he laid the platform for the other top performances in behind ⛳
Kelleher, VVD, Endo, and Lucho brought the kids along nicely.

Definitely a hero performance. Klopp said he had to tell him to stop running back to defend so much!
Relentless is lucho, Elliot had an amazing game in the final as well, ran himself into the ground
@@kylegill4932 Elliot seemed like the only starter who still had legs at the end. Amazing.

I’m not even a Liverpool fan but Klopp is the perfect example of how to run a team and build a relationship with the fans. Managers need more time imo. If Klopp didn’t get that time Liverpool wouldn’t be who they are today. Love the guy. Be sad to see him go. Hope they win everything they are in this year.
@@macurlyfriesi support United and agree. Top man, top manager. Best of luck to him in the future, and to him and Liverpool for this season. Don’t let City win the league again please 🤣
Exactly this. Plus, there are no egos in our changing room. You'd never have a jayden sancho type disagreement with Jurgen
Gary talked about how managers didn't have to give interviews after the game. I feel that they should scrap the pre-match interviews. The same questions do not give any insight into the game, because nothing has happened yet and I bet the managers would rather focus on the preparations for the game.
Managers shouldn't have to give interviews at all. when a team wins the manager is usually glib and big headed like Ferguson was sometimes. Bob Paisley didn't do interviews, the interview always seems to ask the obvious or even dumber questions. If a sports journalist wants an interesting interview he should avoid all match day interviews, when emotions are high. And try asking clever questions
On VVD's first goal, it just goes to show how they feel about liverpool. Look at the post-game, Klopp blanking the ref. Im sure when we have him next with his city scarf underneath his kit that he'll be horrible against us again. Look at Caicedo, both Endo and Grav are injured from his tackles and no card for him, explain it to me. VAR guy has a track record against liverpool and Klopp.
He did shake hands

He was offside and clearly interfered. Don't know what these 3 numpties were going on about. It's a rule that all players know about.
@@SueMyChin they genuinely don't understand the offside rule lmao. you can do whatever the fuck you want in an offside position but right before the moment the ball gets played, you need to be back onside, as simple as that.

When will you guys do a podcast together and not virtually?
They do match of the day top ten together
@@basebear48 But it ain't an hour long podcast that gets aired on KZhead, is it?
With the volume of work these guys do and the amount of episodes of this that they release it suits them to do virtually. They do match of the day in person and motd top 10 so they have the in person chemistry and I think it shows on the virtual podcast. Just wouldn’t make sense doing an in person maybe for a major episode down the line if they reach a certain amount of subs but no real need of them to be in person

What difference does it make. They're all still present on the podcast. That is the beauty of technology. Be happy we get them at all!

I was wondering what podcasts you three were. I saw the short clips. A subscriber now.
Gary Lineker was talking about his friend who is a Chelsea fan and contrasting the 2 different club cultures Liverpool's was like that of a big family whereas Chelsea owner and players there's next to no connection at all but the guy has hit the nail right on the head. Of course you aren't really going to get that at a club like Chelsea. Chelsea for decades has been a club notorious for bullying. You don't really earn a reputation like that for no reason.
What on earth are you talking about lmao? Bullying of all terms

Colwill wasnt blocked, he ran in to Endo. Endo did not actually move, he simply stood still.
whilst offside
@@andrewharrison7767 Offside isn't absolute. You can be offside and not directly be involved with a goal, which is then given 9 times out of 10. The ball was way above Endo and Colwill, they weren't the relevant players. Van Dijk and Chilwell were. Endo didn't score, he didn't assist; he didn't touch the ball. He wasn't obstructing the keeper's view. Neither he nor Colwill were relevant in the goal. Odd, finicky decision. Justice done in the end anyway.

One of the things I find very strange about football broadcasts is how many former players are allowed to be nothing more than cheerleaders for their former teams. No analysis, no impartiality, just rank partisanship. It's infuriating to watch. Audio of the crowd with no commentary is preferable to that.
“billion pound blue bottlejobs” I mean COME ON that’s brilliant and 100% correct
This is by far the best football podcast , here since day 1.
5:40-5:57 Shearer is spot on here. The on field decision was goal given and the VAR overruled it by a very minor infraction that happens on every set piece in football. Corruption.
They even went against their own protocol 😂
@@kylegill4932 bullshit. A dozen goals have been disallowed this season for the same thing. If you want to block, you have to be on side.
@@ushmush4074 there isn’t any block though…… Endo isn’t even facing the chelsea player lol, doesn’t make a move towards said player, or make any kind of contact with said player either. Chillwell is marking vvd, not the young lad, and the young chelsea lad had no chance of winning the ball, as he’s nowhere near vvd or getting anywhere close to the trajectory of the ball.
@@ushmush4074 and it wasn’t/isn’t bullshit btw, as the referee was happy with the goal, it was var that changed the decision, despite the fact they aren’t supposed to get involved when the ref has seen what has happened and is happy for play to continue 🤷♂️. Maybe try following the rules mate!
@@kylegill4932 I know the laws. There are no rules.
If the first VD goal was given I don't think anyone would have questioned it. VAR wtf

Trump, it's the first sensible thing you ever said.
Anymore special guests coming on. I love listen to Henry’s podcast. Be good to get some more legends with the connections you guys have ❤
with the disallowed goal it’s like yes there’s a world where colwill makes that run but it’s no guarantee that’s why it felt so harsh. There was a similar situation a couple months ago where salah smashed it in the bottom corner from a couple yards out but an offside player blocked the view so it was disallowed but it’s like realistically the keepers never saving it
As a Bayern München Fan you guys definitely did not watch the bochum game where Harry kane was not at his best at all. But I guess the exception proves the rule. I hope I didn't batter this phrase. Love the podcast
Perfect 👌
Imagine celebrating that goal in the final for it to be taken away. It must take a lot of energy and emotion out the players. It'll get to the point soon when players won't celebrate until the checks are over.
Thanks Obama.
No it won't. Var rules out less than 2% of goals...go check the stats
@@SueMyChin 1: It already spoils celebrations, (twice today). 2: What's your source? 3: You're including wrong VAR decisions if you're lumping "all" disallowed goals together.
@@SueMyChin It's not only about *how many* are ruled out. It's about how many are checked, often at length and often with the goal being let stand anyway, which of course has an impact not just on the emotions of fans but of players. There's now an in-built feeling that it's better to wait to see what VAR does. It even works when your team concedes a goal - you have a goofy hope it might be somehow disallowed after a few minutes of chatter and line-drawing by the VAR guys.
@@gillie-monger3394 Go check the stats. Less than 1% of goals were ruled out by VAR last season. There were 1084 goals and only 9 ruled out by VAR over the whole season! This season (as of 2 month ago) it's 2.4%, 628 goals 15 ruled out. You can celebrate when there is a goal, stop crying on about it hurting the celebrations, it's a fallacy that VAR is ruling goals out all the time FFS...

Another brilliant podcast😎
I jam watching this a day later than this was released. Man United just won their FA Cup tie with the IDENTICAL goal situation to the Virgil disallowed goal. It is exactly the same, a defensive player offside, holds up an offensive player moving towards the goal, while another player meets the cross to score.
It's not "IDENTICAL" - one was a low cross/pass into the near post nowhere near Varane and his marked player, the other was a looped cross to the back post that crossed the path of Endo/Colwill.
Hojlund can't be out of the running for the "goals scored in consecutive games" if you're accepting Sturridge. Sturridge scored in PL 1 match, missed 8 PL matches due to injury, then scored 7 in a row in the PL after coming back from injury - making 8 total. So why would Hojlund missing matches due to injury immediately take him out of the running when it didn't for Sturridge?
Also, the Premier League have said that Hojlund was on a 6-game scoring streak despite Hojlund missing the Nottingham Forest match during that streak so I think Gary or someone behind the scenes has confused what the Premier League count as consecutive matches.
3:46 Bit of a low blow 🤣
The kids who came on after 85 minutes and Elliot who has played over 100 professional games? It’s a complete mystery how they did that. Let’s be honest if it wasn’t for the heroic defending from the keeper and Konate VVD was getting absolutely roasted in defence.
Thinking of it in another way, the fact that Virgils first goal was disallowed by VAR helped pool win it .the game would have played out differently. had the goal been given then Chelsea may have had time to get an equaliser ,the goal coming three minutes before the whistle.
@@JaiAnt-ui7ip only to you it makes no sense, so when a team scores against you.. , that might rally you.. and vice versa usually theres a response Chelsea thought theyd squeeze a draw defending tbf they sat back, perhaps they wouldnt have had VVDs first goal gone in. 12:47 Gary on Gary violence 😂
I like when Gary mentions about how Klopp has bought the club out of the doldrums, the accompanying graphic is of Roy Hodgson.
hi guys i don’t know how to enter and ask questions but i’d like to know if two of your old clubs are playing do you have favourites (i.e if villa played fiorentina or blackburn played southampton or spurs played everton)
Micah making notes on punditry and preparing his Hansen rewatches
The comments about VAR at the beginning of the podcast dont align with Garys complaints about the goal that was disallowed against Leicester on friday. Micah stated that its for the absolute howlers. Gary says that it was blatantly onside. (As a leeds fan im not disputing that it probably should have been given) When in real time, at real speed you can see why it looks like the Leicester player touched it onto daka, who i think scored it. Therefore i dont think its absolute howler. But i raise the question, does the VAR need to change/get rid or does the application of VAR need changing? Howard webb states that it isnt there to re-referee the game. Well what is it there for? I dont think we’ll ever be able to get rid because not only is it embarrassing for the people who brought it in but its generating too many clicks/comments online. which then generates more money around football, so more people are getting their claws into the game and ruining it imo.
Wrong decision on disallowed goal but VAR has to look at lead up to every goal right. That’s fine but the interpretation again and decision is wrong. As mentioned Endo offside but not interfering and no way Colwill was or could’ve marked Van Dijk. Who was VAR, if Paul Tierney what a surprise, Liverpool fans might lose league due to VAR at spurs
Are you blind?endo was offside. Take him away and the defenders run puts him in the exact spot where vvd made contact with the ball.its literally a straight line dude
@@bartman01021988 VAR was for clear and obvious errors, every set piece there will be subtle blocks, people starting in offside position not interfering or near the ball but doesn’t get punished. Chilwell on video evidence was marking VvD not Colwill simples. #moneycantbuyyousoul

Chelsea it appears are going through a transition or a change. It may take a while for Chelsea to be where they were during the time of Roman Abramovich.
Liverpool is in safe hands. We gonna miss him so much
5:27 what we have learned is PGMOL refs don't need anything massive to overturn Liverpool goal. Also, they need something massive to disallowed the opposition goal against them, we have seen them disallow their legitimate goal too, if you need evidence.
The unwanted Gravenberch left Bayern for Liverpool and still won a trophy before Harry Kane haha
Wolves would be doing even better if it wasn't for bad VAR decisions, could potentially be 6 points better off, that would put them 6th.
Every1 banging on about virgil. Konate was by a country mile liverpools best player on sunday
