  • When I was 15 (1996) I went into a coma for a few days and when I woke up Pedro was just stood there with my family. 😂 we ended up in Match magazine. He was just doing his rounds and ended up staying all day. He was an absolute hero in Newcastle at that time. Great guy

    • @@Fc.199-viii-NMassive Liverpool fan here (since early 70s). This "ah he's from a different time" rubbish is hilarious. I'm his age and guess what....never a racist word has left my mouth. Great player but obviously has a nasty side.

      @MarkSiosal@MarkSiosalАй бұрын
    • It would be weird if Micah respected him. You could see at the start that Micah was squirming a little bit. He even said "us...and even Micah" at one point. Maybe not meant in nasty any way but given his history you can forgive ppl for thinking that way.

      @MarkSiosal@MarkSiosalАй бұрын
    • @@Fc.199-viii-Nit was more than one & there were multiple witness statements to back up the claims . He never showed contrition & i think if GL is willing to use social media to support kick it out etc he should do his job properly & confront even a mate otherwise it looks to be a biased interview . You can laud a mans greatness but give a full picture & address the failures . That is good journalism . Anything else is a disservice to the listener .

  • Old Trafford Cricket ground 2005 (I think) England vs West Indies 5 day test. I was working on the security team when my boss spotted Peter and his young lad in the queue at the burger bar. I was told to get over there, get him served and make sure he doesn't get mithered by the public. I went over and said politely, good afternoon Mr Beardsley, would you like to follow me and we'll get you and your lad served and back in your seat in no time" Peter- "err no thanks. We'll queue up like everyone else if that's OK?!?" I met Brian Lara, David Gower, Freddie Flintoff, and dozens of other high profile stars and celebs that week but that was by far my favourite memory from the 5 days. Yes I felt silly, but it was so refreshing seeing a real world class talent bringing his son up with humility and grace.

"I'm sorry sir, what's your name? Please queue up like everyone else and we'll get to you as soon as the guests in front of you have been seen to" (Then stand back and watch him go purple with silent rage) 🤣

  • For years, playing Chanpionship Manager I was always baffled by Bryan “Pop” Robson. I always thought it was Man United’s Bryan Robson, but couldn’t figure out the Pop bit. This was either pre-internet or simply before my family got internet access (this was mid-90s), so I couldn’t just search him up. Now 30 years later Peter Beardsley mentions Pop Robson and I’ve finally been able to find out who he is. Forgotten-about childhood mystery solved

  • Peter Beardsley a living legend, met him a few weeks ago on the street and was patient enough to talk with me. What a dedicated player with amazing an ability . Twenty odd years ago he and Gazza took the conversions at a fundraising rugby game for a Tongan rugby player who had a terminal brain tumour sticks in my mind. PB took one successfully with his supposedly weaker foot. He even warmed up with the rugby lads in rugby ball passing, tackling, kicking etc.

He was so quick with both, which I think is why he could get past people and make that space for a shot or a telling pass. Anyway, it was magic to watch back in the day.🙂 He’s always canny with the Geordie folk when he’s out and about in Newcastle as well. I’m not surprised everyone’s got a memory to share with him as he gave us so many.
