Uzcategui vs Plant FULL FIGHT: January 13, 2019 - PBC on FS1
On January 13, 2019, Caleb Plant became the IBF Super Middleweight World Champion, defeating Jose Uzcategui in the main event of the first Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes event of 2019, which took place at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles.
Plant dominated the whole fight as he maintained a fast and aggressive pace from the opening bell as fans cheered him on.
Plant started out strong with consistent and accurate exchanges, setting the pace early on for the night. Uzcategui utilized the second round to establish his powerful right hand but an unfazed Plant quickly took over the round and sent Uzcatgeui to the canvas for the third time of his career.
Shortly into the third round, Uzcategui suffered from a minor cut under his left eye but he fought through it and defended his recovery. Plant suffered a similar cut, but under his left eye causing a distracting stream of blood but it wasn’t a match for the focused challenger.
Despite entertaining exchanges in the later rounds, Plant soared above the plan of Uzcategui and maintained. Although Uzcategui used the championship rounds in attempt to shine one last time, Plant’s ring generalship, power and skill ultimately assisted with his uncompromising victory.
Plant becomes the IBF Super Middleweight World Champion and protects his unblemished record of 18-0, 10KO’s.

Man I just watched a podcast with Caleb Plant & a bunch of brothers asking and talking about his trials and tribulations and the adversities the man has overcome wow this dude is an amazing person & a fighter i hold in a much higher regard after getting an accurate and true understanding of him & the road he has walked

Huge fan of Caleb.... so happy to see him triumph after the tragic death of his daughter. As much as I'd want to root for him, after seeing this fight along with his previous ones... he still doesn't stand a chance against Canelo.

this is actually a really good fight. good for education as well. nice clean punches and defensive blocks being displayed (or there lack of). good to watch to learn about boxing - and the more boxer-puncher, counter-punching style. they sure are more beautiful to watch than brawling!
People aren't asking for brawls we are asking more action ,boxing is an entertainment sport ,it's the poor men's sport ,so you have to make it worth while for the poor man to spend his money that's the origins of boxing ,look at young like Tyson with the footwork head movement technique but he applied it offensively look at loma ,and that was the problem Floyd had ,he is an amazing fighter but when you've got your opponent beat to the point that you're toying with him you must pick up the pace even if you don't get him out of there .

Haber lo que vi fue lo siguiente: Uzcategui - Fortalezas = Tiene un físico y una resistencia increible, una personalidad calmada para no desesperarse y estar siempre sereno y su especialidad obviamente es su pegada a corta distancia como fajador, es muy fuerte. Sus debilidades. Debilidades = Es lento, no tiene cintura, le falta experiencia (como vas dejarte agarrar amigo xD) por cada clinch Plant lo desconcentraba demasiado. Fuera de eso a su esquina le falta ambición concentración. En el último round a su entrenador se le ilumina la mente y le dice: No dejes que te agarre wey!.. Con una esquina mejor y con mas entrenamiento este muchacho pueder dar sorpresas. Plant - Fortalezas = Es un contragolpeador, rápido buena cintura, lee bien la distancia, buen juego de piernas, es provocador ( esto no le funcionó con Ucaztegui) todo lo demás si. Tiene experiencia (los clinch fueron fundamentales para recuperarse). Debilidades = Le falta resistencia fisica ( se agotó demasiado rápido) Le falta pegada sólida Descripción de la pelea : Plant dominó la pelea, su capacidad de contragolpe y de esquivar golpes, hacían que Uzcategui golpeara el aire constatemente, lo impactó en la quijada y cayó a la lona varias veces, pero como Plant no tiene una pegada brutal su rival se levantó como si nada, pues no se vio afectado ni fisica ni moralmente, es más se mantuvo feliz y sonriente hasta el final por su gran resistencia fisica. El campeón tomó el control de la pelea cuando Plant intercambió golpes a corta distancia y puedo lastimarlo pues además de ganar los últimos round, Plant se vio agotado y se quedó sin su juego de piernas; de no ser por que optó por abrazarlo, el boliviano pudo haberle hecho más daño del debido. Ganó la experiencia de Plant, demostró que es superior al campeón y le quitó su titulo. El ex campeón Uzcategui tiene mucho por aprender y mejorar, es un diamante en bruto todavía.
Y hoy uzcategui dio positivo en una sustancia para resistencia .. Y hoy veo completa la pelea y veo que en el round 10 esta como si nada ...

Jose isn’t nearly as insightful as Canelo, I mean no jabs, no feints and didn’t bother setting traps. Caleb seems slick but his movement are too tense and robotic, hasn’t faced a true offensively gifted boxer like Saul.
Canelo didn't throw many jabs vs Floyd or Lara. He doesn't know how to move and throw a jab at the same time. He only use the jab against stationary targets

Caleb will use his jab, keep distance, and switch up his counts per round.. If Caleb can take a punch because Canelo will hit him hard, if Caleb can take power he wins.. because Caleb is the better boxer, and physically more athletic.

Jose could’ve won this fight if he jabbed more and threw more combinations. When jose throws he connects, he had the ability to do damage when he landed. Jose was just being too stationary.
Sigh, I just don’t see Plant beating Nelo. Plant has this default get away of sticking left or a quick 1,2 combo, duck under to the Left similar to BJS with the only diff is he gets out to the left. Homie was slow and lethargic with no snap on his punches and Plant was still getting caught repeatedly by his left and his face was being messed up. As soon as the then Champ stepped up to Plant’s pace a lil but he gassed out and was forced to trade and clinch to keep from getting overwhelmed. I think 8th-9th round KO for Canelo.🤷🏾

I can see another broken eye socket coming. BJS did the same and Canelo adapted and figured him out. Uzcátegui is a one dimensional pressure fighter. Canelo is gonna work that body beautifully.

How long have you been watching boxing? Uzcátegui looked lethargic to me but when he finally threw some punches he seemed to hit Plant much of the time. Plant had some fast punching at the beginning of the fight-he knocked the champ down, yet the champ looked ok as if he had stumbled rather than appearing to be rocked. I don’t think his shots will hurt Canelo, and once Canelo realizes this, Plant won’t be able to stop Canelo from closing the distance. Also Uzcátegui didn’t seem to have any feints or tricky moves, yet he was able to land fairly well. Canelo is exceptionally tricky with lots of feints. I just don’t see what Caleb fans see…

So Uzcat was “lethargic “ but never seemed hurt? No one ever claimed Uzc was lethargic but you. He was poised and on the attack but got outmaneuvered and went down TWICE on top of being hurt. Uzc didn’t land anything until after the 9th round. He landed more in 11th as Plant tired for doing all the work and Plant willed through it to win because he won all but 1-2 rds. Lastly this post is from TWO years ago so it wasn’t even about Canelo. There's no way a boxer like Plant stands a chance against a full talent champ like Canelo. Plant would freeze in front of Uzcátegui, who had no speed, no jab, no combinations. He was just too scared of getting hit, and he calls that great defense. Can Plant take GGG's punches like Canelo did, no, yet Plant would freeze, clinch, and run from Uzcátegui who had nothing left.

Plant really impressed me with this fight he showed heart a lot of it he showed great boxing ability’s on both sides offense and defense also used angles and movement very well but he took some shots he needs to take a few less shots and gain a little more cardio and he can be a champion for a long time in this division. The talent and brains are there let’s see how he uses them and make them strong weapons vs opponents
He'll learn how to Pace himself with every fight. Learn how to take some time off the clock without going all in every round.
Great to watch someone achieve their dream. A talented boxer, Plant looks like he bases a lot of his style on Floyd Mayweather. He is going to have his hands full with David Benevidez who is a tank. Plant may not have enough power to keep Benevidez off of him. He also needs more fights before he gets in the ring with Canelo. I think Callum Smith would be a good fight for Plant at this point in his career.
Plant impresses me too but Canelo going to Merc him though. He don’t have the power to keep Canelo off him and nobody at 168 is fast enough to give Canelo the problems he had at 154 with slicker guys. He may hang in there for 5 or 6 rounds but Canelo will break him down and stop him ugly just like BJS. He just need to pray that he can still fight again after.

He has impressive wins over decent opponents after that for sure, but he does need some bigger and better names under his belt. Any fights with David Benavidez, Anthony Dirrell, Daniel Jacobs, and maybe even Callum Smith would showcase Caleb Plant’s ability for sure and then he’ll HAVE to face Canelo. Even as a huge Caleb Plant fan, I can still admit that he’s got a little more to prove before fighting Canelo. But a successful title defense over maybe 2 out of the 4 I said or all 4 would put him right on the route to fighting Canelo.
