Hilarious to hear the commentator consistently doubting Terrence’s south paw stance. For him to brutally drop Gamboa in round 5 seconds after the commentator was doubting him again.
I was looking for someone w the same opinion the commentators was slating him constantly after rd 5 they was singing praises about his southpaw aha
I was just laughing at that. 😂
At this point they didn't know buds style that Well.
@@fofao681 may have not but he still was being effective enough in southpaw for them to not talk shit
@@matthewrushton6711 bruh in rd 8 the commentators had bud by 3 points but from rd 5 till the bginning of 8, bud dominated 5, 6, 7 theres no way only by 3
I met bud Crawford when I lived in Nebraska, He's such a humble guy who remembers he came from the gutter. Big fan man, True champion.
This is awesome. The dude is a true champ
At this point Gamboa was a 3 Division World 🌎 Champion and undefeated plus an Olympic gold medalist 🎖 he moved up ⬆️ 2 divisions to face Bud truly a throw back fighter.
Back when him & rigo when in their prime, good times 😒
Exactly, Gamboa moved up2 divisions to fight Bud and he was fighting a VERY good fight. I thought we was winning during a good period of the fight. And he did hit Crawford with a really nice left hook that is hard to see right towards the end of the fight that hurt Crawford 2:23 of the 9th round.
Him signing with 50 and beef with top rank ruined him. He was coming off a layoffs. So imagine how good he would have been if he stayed active. He was something special
He was at 130 prior to this fight snd he moved up to 135.
No he was not a 3 division world champion. He only won the interim super featherweight and lightweight.
Terence Crawford is the best fighter I have ever seen at controlling an entire fight with one hand or the other. He uses that brutal right jab like a right cross, or he can switch around and use the left in the same fashion and come over the top with the right. He is such a beautiful practitioner of the sweet science.
I think people forget how good Gambao was. He was a highly decorated amateur, Olympic gold medalist, won a title at featherweight, won an interim title at super featherweight, won an interim title at lightweight, and he was undefeated before this fight. In 2012, Ring Magazine had Gambao top 10 in the pound for pound rankings. He was on the verge of becoming a star but of course Bud knocks him out and now everybody acts like he was a bum. It's crazy how the narrative changes after all of Bud's fights. Before the fight "This is Crawford's biggest test, I don't think he can get past this one", After the fight "He was washed up, he wasn't ever really that good anyway, etc." Let's see how the story changes after he stops Spence.
"after he stops Spence." This will age poorly. lol
@@hortinus well he’s gonna get 2 shots at it 🤷♂️
@Hortinus Unless Spence has made drastic improvements or his chin is granite, I see bud stopping him. I've seen Spence get tagged with clean counters from people who aren't anywhere near the level of counterpuncher Bud is.
@@bondsgoat25 He'll do it both times 🤷♂️

Gamboa fought hard, quick and with determination. Terrence Crawford is truly amazing how he adjusted to the onslaught by Gamboa. Crawford is truly a 🏆 champion!!!
Gamboa's body and brain did not communicate. Gamboa's punches were weak. He was throwing punches but his body did not want continue. His mind kept him because his body was out of the fight from the first knock down.
Nobody says anything about gamboa going up 2 divitions for this fight oooohhh i know, cause is not against Canelo 😂😂😂

TC has one of the most effective right hands I’ve seen, uses it brilliantly in southpaw to mentally and physically break down his opponent with jab and hook, then when he smells blood he switches back to righty to finish them off with the power right. It’s brilliant 💥

I really dislike the Top Rank narrators, soooo one-sided. Crawford IS an amazing all-time great fighter, but Gamboa DID made this fight hard to him.

Like how Roy Jones predicted EXACTLY how the fight would go at the start of the fight. Said that Gamboa's vast amateur background would allow him to dominate the first three or four rounds but that he expects Crawford to take over from there. And that's exactly what happened.
I feel like most of cuban boxers don't adapt to pro properly.
@Max imusss grapes
manolete 46 Your right, they’re stuck with their amateur styles, it’s hard to get them to fight a pro style. I see them in the gyms in south Florida all the time. Great amateurs, they just don’t adopt pro styles.
I love how you can almost always hear Momma Deb yelling above the rest of the crowd
Man gamboa fought some crazy good fighters over the years. Gotta give credit to a guy who always fights top competition
This was a great fight. In round 9 at @29:22, Bud was buzzed and wobbled with a right hook, but he recovered nicely and finished off Gambola later in that round. Bud showed he could get hurt, but he also could take punches proven by his quick recovery in this fight.
Hurt is okay. But by a non knockout artist puncher that's up two weight classes, that's crazy...
@@Ihavetocorrectyou he said this was his toughest professional fight

26:53 When was the last time you saw anybody who could fight as well as that while backing up... 29:15 The commentators missed it, but that was a cracking right hand Gamboa landed on Crawford. That might be the only time I've seen Crawford's legs stiffen up on him like that. Crawford had to get himself back together, work his way back into the fight, & come back with his own attack at bit later in the round.

@@cohenfitness Spence not doing shit that's all u mfs banking on hoping on and it ain't happening
"He doesn't fight good as a Southpaw" Listening to the commentators after the fact is always the best
Defensively speaking, I can see why he was saying that. Crawford was eating shots he likely didn't have to, so most people would feel like he should go back to orthodox so that he'd be more defensively sound.
may i ask how? im sorry just want to know..
Exactly, he's a better counter puncher as a southpaw. Gamboa likes to lead with the left hook and follow up with his right so Crawford switched to Southpaw and began to counter with his straight left and even more effectively with his right hook as seen at 15:28, by removing Gamboas left hook he was able to prevent Gamboa for getting off any combinations. Crawfords is such and intelligent fighter, like a chess player.
@@purewk2730 20:05 "Crawford boxing nicely as a Southpaw now"
@@purewk2730 true! Every fighter has their treats or "pros" and "cons". I am good at slipping shots and setting up combinations from southpaw, on orthodox im good at setting up power punches and counter/fall back shots. But i would not still "risk" like crawford did, you need to have very good concentration and overall variety to switch for that time 🙃

@@tonyfortune346 he still have tank things to think about with legs not what they where. Crawford smacks them all except old age which unfortunately is approaching
@n.w.owhoknowstheshadowknow58 If Crawford has any decline from old age it hasn't been enough for me to notice it yet. From everything I've seen from Spence, I can't see him winning this fight unless his size and strength advantage is more significant than I'm expecting. I'm expecting Bud to clip him with a counter and hurt him in the first 4 or 5 rounds and stop him by the 10th.

Agreed 💯👍
Me too
Gamboa is about the quickest fighter I've seen. He has unbelievable reflexes, he must have smashing the guys at 126. He came up 2 weights for this fight, Bud was too long and too big for him overall, but Gamboa didn't embarrass himself. Before he hurt Crawford in the 9th, he must have landed 80 or 90 good punches. When Crawford got loosened up, they had some wild exchanges. Gamboa kept getting caught because of arm length and Crawfords skills. I think Gamboa gave Crawford about as good a fight as anyone.
Gamboa initially stunned Crawford in the 9th round at 2:23 and again at 2:19. You can see Terrence wobble clearly after both punches and that's why he was backing up.
