Plant vs Feigenbutz FULL FIGHT: February 15, 2020 - PBC on FOX
Fighting in front of a raucous hometown crowd for the first time in his professional career, undefeated IBF Super Middleweight World Champion Caleb "Sweethands" Plant (20-0, 12 KOs) put on a show.
Plant dominated mandatory challenger Vincent Feigenbutz (31-3, 28 KOs) of Germany, scoring a 10th-round TKO Saturday night in the FOX PBC Fight Night main event and on FOX Deportes from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Plant, who grew up in neighboring Ashland City, successfully made the second defense of the world title he won in January 2019 with a thrilling 12-round unanimous decision over then-titlist Jose Uzcategui. "Sweethands" lived up to his moniker, breaking down Germany's Feigenbutz before putting him away.
"I was super fueled by the crowd tonight," Plant said. "I could have gone all night. The whole city came out. Nashville stand up!"
Plant gave them plenty to cheer about from the opening bell, landing his jab up and downstairs. The aggressive Feigenbutz, 24, struggled to land anything in return.
Plant began landing the combinations in the third, bringing the crowd to his feet with a series of well-placed volleys.
Those shots slowly took their toll, but Feigenbutz was game. He came alive in the sixth, pinning Plant against the ropes and unloading his own combinations. Plant covered up and shook his head as if unbothered.
Plant pounded Feigenbutz in the seventh and eighth, opening up a cut on his nose and swelling his right eye. The challenger absorbed more punishment in the ninth, causing the ringside doctor to take a hard look at him in between rounds.
The end came swiftly in the 10th as Plant, sensing his foe was weakening, pounded away until referee Malik Waleed mercifully stepped in. The official time of the stoppage was 2:23 of the 10th.
"I felt great out there," said Plant. "I was relaxed and sharp. I told you I was going to stop this before the 12th round. I want to dedicate this to my daughter, to my mother, my grandfather and the whole city of Nashville."

Very good combos but, the thing about Canelo is he's not going to stand there and take it like this guy did. Canelo will fire back and fire back harder. Canelo will always come forward no matter who he fights and will close the gap over time. I think Plant vs Canelo will go a lot like the Billy Saunders fight went, Plant will look good for the start and fade till he gets knocked out in the 7th-8th round.
I couldn’t agree more. Canelo should capitalize on Caleb’s mistakes. That low guard of Caleb plant may work for a bit but Canelo should break it eventually. This will be exciting 👍🏿

Lot of comments, not many about this fight. Plant's combinations were absolutely on point, penetrating the guard with hard uppercuts and hooks. Those scoring jabs were beautiful, Feigenbutz never had a chance to establish forward momentum through them. I'm sure his game plan was to tank shots to get in close, but that doesn't work against someone with strong enough jabs to mitigate or redirect your dash. Plant's defense was better, his offense was sharper, Feigenbutz was hurting. The ref made the right call.
I believe Caleb Plant would give Canelo Alvarez a run for his money. Plant's speed, combinations, and switching angles would give Canelo a hard time... I take Plant over Canelo.
Power does not bother Canelo Alvarez at all; what bothers the Mexican is speed and switching angles constantly, not staying in front of him slugging it out. Therefore, Plant would be a good challenge for Canelo...

Canelo also possesses an underrated jab. I think canelo has a better chance of being the victor since he does have more power boxing iq and chin than caleb but it would be a great fight.
@@alanlopez398 The thing is Plant's footwork and lateral movement will negate a lot of what canelo does to get inside, hes really comfortable on the backfoot. It'll depend on how well Caleb can take Canelos power and how well he can handle the pressure canelo will put on him. Canelo will be the clear favorite to win but its a great match up, Caleb and Andrade are the only ones in the division that'll give Canelo problems

Plant doesn't seem to have much of a heavy hand in its punch He also tends to dodge blows by bending over too low. Which is exactly how Saunders got nailed with a monstrous upper cut by Canelo. Two problems Plant will have to "fix" in his boxing to have some chance in the ring with Canelo.

@Slab Lab , if you are a box expert, you must know Canelo can upper cut with either hand with the same heavy power. So it doesn't really matter which way his opponent tend to dodge. He'll catch him any way

It's a version of philly shell defense, might help protect the body , but there ways around it, if you're good enough. It's more effective if your opponent respects your power and vice versa.
What i love about plant is that he has power but he chooses to box and use movement and defense to set the power up rather than stand and bang where you can get in trouble for doing that. Great skilled boxer and he is definitely getting better.

Yeah I can't believe I just read that statement young. I've watched canelo for 10 years and all of his fights he has a bit of improvement and knowledge that he learns you can see it in the next fight and everyone knew that Mayweather was going to beat him you can't call that a loss you really can't that was a learning experience.

100% honesty. I grew up in Ashland city same place Caleb did. I was just a kid going to the basketball courts behind the post office. Watching this man dunking the hell out the ball time and time. Was athletic in every sport. And also was extremely humble. Nice to everyone. He grew up in a trailer with dope sick mom and no dad there with him thru it all. His sister was in my class and she was bullied so bad by tons of nasty other teens. He had a child and she died not even a year into her life. I’ve seen him at music city boxing gym when I got a membership there. He helped tons of kids who were training and never had a bad attitude. Worked so hard day after day for hours on end. I know that doesn’t mean he will win. But this man has heart. And when you doubt the dog you get bit. So sit back and say what you want. But just wait and see what he’s got. Old man canelo gonna be surprised. Don’t doubt. Just watch. I know you ain’t thrown a single punch at an opponent or looked into the eyes of someone in the ring so keep being a fanboy and stick to sitting on the couch chatting bs. U a nobody. In germany feigenbutz is very famous, i used to train with him once when he had a seminar at our gym. Crazy to see him in such big heights fighting in the USA. He showed a good fight still against such a beast. It's sad he didn't win tho, he's the german Mike tyson, if he hurts you, he will finish you off with a knockout. He has almost 100 percent knockout rate in all his wins

Canelo will have great difficulty against this guy, & will need to rely heavily on sympathetic judges, like he did with Erislandy Lara, Golovkin & Austin Trout.
Andre Ward & Chris Areola both picked Plant to beat Canelo so, I'm here scouting Plant. He has an extensive amateur career winning National Golden Gloves along with 97 amateur wins. The casual fan thinks Canelo is going to dominate, but Caleb will come real close to beating Canelo, I'm just unsure how Caleb is going to take Canelo's power. Caleb definitely has the boxing skills to beat Canelo if he's able to handle Canelo's huge power.
I've been watching him since before he turned pro trust me he's the real deal. He's one of those guys that will literally die in the ring before he quits or throws the towel in. That's the main thing people are underestimating going into the Canelo fight...Alot of people know he is good physically and skill wise but people don't understand how mentally and physically tough he is and he has an iron chin but he doesn't get hit alot so he hasn't got to show it at this level yet. He was taking big shots from Uzcatagi who was a devastating KO puncher at the time and it didn't deter him at all. Don't be fooled by the casual fans. Shawn Porter has sparred him and has seen him work for years and he often talks about how tough and rugged he is.
I got him beating Canelo by majority decision...I've seen him rise to the occasion every single time he's been put under major pressure. He's just gonna be too much for Canelo to handle and I know that sounds crazy considering Canelos resume but trust me on this. Remember this comment

Canelo throws a body shot, which may or may not land. Caleb Plant's style is similar to Demestrius Andrade's, who has never lost a round. These two fighters score points from EXTREMELY long range. Canelo is Mexican, which is a huge strike against him, because Mexicans have slow-twitch muscle fibers. Canelo also has very short arms, another huge strike against him and the reason he lost twice to Golovkin. Canelo is also the "away" fighter, another massive strike against him. Plant is American and is fighting in his home country. Canelo: 1) is Mexican (very few Mexican champions), 2) has shorter arms, 3) is the away fighter. CALEB PLANT IS A LIVE DOG. A WIN BY PLANT SETS UP A REMATCH, WHICH BOTH FIGHTERS WANT. This fight is a repeat of what happened when Timothy Bradley fought Manny Pacquiao. Bradley only won 3 or 4 rounds, but he was the home fighter, and all parties involved wanted a rematch, so they gave it to Bradley.

Been watching Plant he has hand speed, no power, moves very well uses the ring very well too, Canelo will have to over come all of that to win the up coming fight in November 6 /21 Canelo has dealt with this type of opponent, cutting off the ring and body punches will be the way to defeat Plant, the power punches will force Plant to cover up or run like crazy, I don’t think Plant will go toe to toe

Plant is dope good movement. I think if he takes a page from Laras book and stays behind his jab he can pull it off but also he can’t beat Canelo with his hands low like that. Plant looks very suceptible to counterpunch, as he is often wide open. He could have hard times (at least) facing Canelo. That said, it's hard to make significant statment based on such one-sided fight, with C-level oponent (brave but with no punching power nor any trace of skill).
