Greetings from Poland, I came across your channel by accident and I wasn't disappointed, great job, keep doing it, it's great to listen and watch you!
Thank you for the kind words. Greetings from denmark
Looks great! If you can find headliner fabric with 1mm foam backing, that should work for the pillar trim. The foam will hide imperfections. Since it's only 1mm thick, it shouldn't look "poofy".
Very difficult to find. I tried. Ended up ordering new from Schmeidmann. I think the only way to use fabric would be to get alcantara.
I’ll be removing my interior next week and re-dying areas and re colouring my steering wheel too. I painted up my centre console last Xmas just like you. Great work Tim👍🏼🍺🏁
Thank you. I hope it goes well. Be prepared to handle alot weight lol. Merry Christmas to my UK brothers (if i remember correctly youre from uk right?)
Juhls ...another classy restoration, I like that you consider restoration before replacing... It seems more respectful...
Thank you. Thats very kind of youbto say
Looks a lot better man! Very nice
I’m glad I found this channel!
Looks great!
As usual, you are doing everything with your car in style. I own a E39 and a E46 and as you, I try to restore things before just changing parts. Its all about keeping your car in shape. You get to know your car and find pleasure in knowing how to fix it. Suddenly the car becomes a member of the family :)
Fully agree. AND you also get to know it so well you very clearly know whats next on the list to have maintenamce done to it before it fails or run the risk of failure. Thanks man. Your replies are again very nuanced and hard to disagree with💪 What e39 is that?? I have had a 530ia i miss dearly
Thanks for your nice answer. Its a 530i -02 Touring. I bought it 2005 and use it as a daily driver. I thought I would upgrade and go for E61 but it was to ugly (!) end when the F11 came - I noticed I cant sell it as it has served us so well. I really like these generation of Bmw:s They had the confidence and the German way of over engineering without showing off. I hope you find a nice E39 again - Its like the older brother of E46 :) @@OEMplusRESTO
I used my e39 as a dd. Best dd ive ever had. But it was quite expensive to have 2 old bmwøs so i had to choose. But now i miss it because a daily driver is just so much more opportunities to enjoy the car than simply a weekend car! But alas i will own one again! I too testdrove a 258hp 530i e60 and it was just such a downgrade in terms of design, quality and engineering from my previous e39 (m5) that i went for the e39 (530i) again.. Its litterally peak bmw imo. One ABS unit awau from being the perfect car@@andrewachholz7922
Tim, Excellent work again. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. Merry Christmas!!!
Merry christmas to you and your loved ones Robert😀 and thanks for the support
Great effort Juhls, cheers
Thanks man.. clearly you saw that part😎
Looks great Tim! Merry Christmas aswell.
Thank you. Merry christmas to you too💪
Nice job😊 interior looks incredible
Thank you:)
Great video. I tried myself to repair loose textile on the A and C pillars, but result wasn't good. Some wrinkles and some of the contact glue came through. Ended up buying new. Since I wasn't aware that it was possible to restore the textured surface on the certer console, as you show here, I bought a new one. It costs not to know how. Next time I'll try to use your method.
Love it! I love doing this kind of thing to my cars too! I’m going to go back and watch your catalogue! Merry Christmas! My Porsche Cayman also has that rubbery paint that is all scratched up. Maybe I’ll try this out after I put some more scratches on it!
Thank you. The matte clear coat is super important if you dont want i to scratch easy💪
absolutely georgeous job. But espescially for the underneath part wich is awesome. I dreamed to meet you and restore my car as yours! lol. greetings from italy
Thank you. Greeting from Denmark
Thanks for sharing these videos and your experience restoring the interior. The centre console looks good. Also the seats look good but a little shiny, that might be the light though. Well done for getting the inflatable bolsters working again
Thanks for the honest feedback. Im no expert on leather. Do you think i should apply something to remove the shine.
when i saw the intro for the video i thought you might ony do the seats since thats a very long process on its own :D But after seeing you do everything i must say crazy good job! even if youre not so happy with the new pillars :) Cant wait to do the recoloring on my m3 seats! Great video as always :) Also i wish you happy holidays and a good start into 2024 :) !
Thank you for the support and insight this year. Its been a joy.. i wish your and your loved ones a happy a happy holidays as well. May the new year bring lots of car joy for us car guys😎
Thanks for sharing Tim. Always an inspiration to get work done on both my e46s. Although it’ll take me hella longer to do what you did! Merry Christmas brah!
And a merry christmas to you too sir😁
Merry Christmas to you too😊 i did take me a shit ton of time though. Thats why i made a separate more detailed vid on the center console:) i only have the evenings and a little time on the weekends for this😅
Strangely enough, I've been doing the exact same work on my 330ci and your video came up at random. Had the same problems with the pillar trims, stripping away the years old glue etc. No quick way other than acetone and lighter fluid but the results were worth it in the end! Just need to tackle the leather in mine now and jobs a goodun! Great work, worth the effort 👌
Nice!! Is your a/b/c pillars holding up with the new fabric? I read alot that it doesnt hold for long and honestly im not sure mine will either. I love your choice of car btw😅
Used a feux leather in the end, thought if I'm doing it I may as well upgrade it. I'm confident it'll last a long while, and if not, it'll be the next owners issue 😅
Love how you try to keep everything in good condition without spending big money. Doing full resto's without a budget will not work for many viewers. Either way... if you have the money for a full E46 resto, you may as well buy another car, unless it's something special like an M3. Keep up the good work and... let us know how well the dy on the leather seats holds up after some use. Imo the result always looks great, but it rarely really lasts. Hope your results are better! Merry xmas and greetings from the Netherlands!
Thank you for the kind words. I try and keep the costs down so that i can spend the limited amount of money i have on stuff that really matters. Imo the brakes for instance. Or new components for the cooling system etc! Merry christmas from denmark😃
I could benefit from sound deadening))
we have same snickers pants and very simmilar 330ci, although mine are bit more rugged and used
Theyre really good. Sadly mine has a hole in them. Not as good as a 330ci though😅
@@OEMplusRESTO both pants and car had reinforcment done
@ivanfilipovic3296 subframe mounts?
@@OEMplusRESTO well pants were reinforced under massive ballsack but on car i have redish v2 plates and on inside i have welded beams simmilar to vincebar / datsun 240z design, and all those beams work with folding rear bench
Sounds like quite the setup.. did it improve handling noticeably in your opinion?
How do you find the m3 seats in terms of comfort? Granted my back issues started after I have done the swap, but I don’t find them very comfortable and the leather is rather hard, but it has seen better days to be honest. I’m wondering if it’s just the padding / leather on mine or they’re not that comfortable in general.
Honestly i dont find them super comfortable, but that was most likely due to the bolsters not being able to deflate! But i fixed that. I havent driven it yet so i dont know how comfortable i will find them yet
@@OEMplusRESTO the bolsters do make a difference in comfort, so will probably be better
Fed video, har en gammel recaro s3 kabine der skal have samme tur.
En audi S3?
Ja en 8L
can you confirm that the heated seat on the e46 also heats the back?
I cant. I dont have heated seats:(
Did the car lose any of its smell? Ive recently bought a 330ci and I’m hesitant to clean to much inside because it has that old BMW smell
Not at all, The bmw smell is the sound insulation beneath the carpets and such. Cleaning the seats wont change it:)
And nice car. I love that model😅
@@OEMplusRESTO yes now that you say it I have heard this somewhere before, thanks !
@@OEMplusRESTO I will be restoring much like you have done, first up is manual conversion. Your video’s are brilliant!
@mickmurphy92 theres a guy/company somewhere that sells the bmw/crayon fragrance. Its the best bmw smell ever
Why dont you just use genuine Alcantara fabric for the A and C pillars. If you choose the correct color it will look and feel incredible. I bet OEM replacement parts will cost a fortune.
Didnt think of it. Oe is 100 dollars a piece more or less! But even with alcantara im not sure it would be better in my case!
