    • The neon sign right behind Joe doesn't make too much sense though. Edit: I think the sign is nice just it's location doesn't make sense. When you focus the camera on the guest the backdrop is a nice velvet red that doesn't take away from the person. When the camera pans to Joe its bright and in your face, and you can only read half of the sign because of Joe. It should be placed at the end of table on the back wall. Allowing even light for both people and so you can actually read it.

    • @@mattstah9319 your heart finna sink when you hear about my tale tho. It begins in the middle of the African rainforest. I'm surrounded by trees and the never-ending negative thoughts that I am about to die. In between a set of trees, standing alone in the distance, is a shadowy figure. I approach him reluctantly but am mentally retreating. Quick as a flash, he zooms over to me. I look ahead of me and see nothing but the rainforest. He'd disappeared. Suddenly he pulled his forearm against my neck and pulled me into a rear naked choke. I defended properly with 2 on 1 against his right arm. I managed to scramble out of it but he let little time pass before shooting a double leg on me. I fell to the ground as he quickly cinched up an arm triangle. The next thing I remember is waking up in Ted Currently's bedroom as he was leaving the initial comment. I was crouched in the fetal position but on the balls of my feet so I kind of just hovered in the corner. When he hit post, I shot an immediate double leg and mentally I was right back to the fight in the Amazon rainforest again. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" I remember screaming out. Ted pulled back and said in a voice that felt as if it were coming from all directions at once "A life with you...". Much like yours just did, my heart just sank. How had the universe determined that I were worthy of its ever-glowing love? A question I still ponder over today, even 23 years into a non-sexual relationship with Ted Currently. Also, my reading age was 14 when I was 9 so I'm clearly the smartest one here.

  • I work both inpatient and outpatient PT so I am confronted with a lot of orthopedic injuries. Tom is very right when he says nobody prepares you for that at 13:00. Often times surgeons are not educating their patients on the expectations of the road to recovery. I think it may be in part because that is not their area of expertise, but I often find myself having to set people’s expectations on their post-operative recovery. Which can be very hard to do for some people who think they will back to “normal” within 2-3 weeks. Often times people get worn down emotionally throughout the process because it’s like a full time job just caring for their injuries, then add the stress of missing work, the pain, the weakness, lack of independence, etc. it’s a lot to take in every day.

  • Did something similar to my humerus too when I fell down my stairs at home and bent my arm backwards behind my back. There wasn't a break, just a fracture at the top but, I have the same nerve bruising/damage; the pain and weakness of the arm he described is spot on. I would not wish it upon anyone.

    @davebeat@davebeat3 жыл бұрын
  • Brian Stutterer, a sports doctor who made a KZhead video breaking down the injury, said that Bert actually did the right thing when he set his arm because what happens when you break your bone like that, it can cut off blood circulation to parts of your body which leads to tissue death, or necrosis, so setting the arm in normal place actually allows the blood to flow again. So when he asks “should Bert have set the arm after it’s broken” the answer is yes, he should have done that. And Bert acted on instinct, but he could have saved Tom from tissue death in his arm.

      @weebleman6@weebleman63 жыл бұрын
    • Ehh, it isn't that simple at all, if he had a compound fracture and there were bone shards floating around, moving the arm could cause the severing of major veins or arteries in the area, or sever nerves/nerve damage as well. Bone shards can be like mini razor blades inside your body, you want to move the area as little as possible until you have an xray or ct scan.

      @rdizzy1@rdizzy13 жыл бұрын
    • @@rdizzy1 you also want to avoid necrosis which can be argued is quite a bit better than some minor cuts that wouldn't amount to anything more than bruising.

      @Jesusluvz@Jesusluvz3 жыл бұрын
    • @@rdizzy1 it wasn’t a compound fracture dude, a compound is when the bone breaks the surface of the skin literally sticking out. I’ve broken my right arm (humerus) twice, both times snapping it straight in half and there were minimal and minuscule bone shards....bones break pretty cleanly unless they’re struck with a bullet or they’re getting crunched in a severe car accident or something

So I was patched up in the sheds and got a new jersey on to run back out onto the field when I noticed that my knee had swollen up and I was having trouble bending it. The eventual surgery drained a litre of fluid from my knee and I required 30 stiches along the inside of my patella tendon. So yeah Joe is right in saying you don't have pain from the initial tear but the swelling and pressure on the join afterwards is excruciating.

    @cw4960@cw496011 ай бұрын
  • Wow, just came across this one. Brings back memories. I was in a car accident when I was 19 years old . I was crossing 4 lanes of traffic as they were all stopped in downtown traffic. This young 17 year old girl in the farthest lane was going 55 in a 30 trying to race up to the turn light so she could turn before it went red. I didnt see her and she didnt see me crossing. Smacked me right in the driver-side wheel. My left shoulder and arm slammed into the door. She hit me so hard the car spun 60 ft from where I was originally crossing the street at. The force was as such that the driver-side struts were smacked into the engine block. car obviously totaled. The moral of the story is the shoulder hitting the door. I did not go immediately to the hospital I as well went straight home and laid on the couch. Until the next day, when the pain from my shoulder was just as bad as the moment of impact. I decided to finally hit up the hospital. In the Xrays that were done. They showed that two of the 3 outer ligaments were completely severed, cut completely in half. The outer two ligaments control the Arm across the chest movement and the, Arm over the head movement. I could NOT for the life of me manage to do those motions with my left arm on its own power. I could only get my arm to go across my chest and over my head with the support of my right hand doing the moving. I as well declined surgery at the hospital I went to and just slinged my arm. It has sense healed, however, I am now almost 34 years old. And have issues sleeping on my left shoulder, lifting weights with my left arm and so on. Never in my life have I ever felt that kind of pain. It was mostly the pain from trying to move the arm on its own power. that is when all the pain in the world would crash down on me. It was just not going to happen. But soon as I Grab my left arm with my right hand and pull the left arm up and over. That is when it would not hurt as much. I was on Lortabs and Percocet's at the time for pain. Which didnt help me very much AT ALL lol. It has taken years though, for me to recover, and its still fully not quite there and probably never will be, sense I refused surgery. Im not about to have some freakin metal all up inside me if I can help it. No thank u. But thats just me. Anyways, just wanted to share how I feel Toms pain when listening to him tell his story. Reminds me all to much of my own.

  • I know how tom feels, in 2016 I broke my femur and it was a year almost before I could walk without help and my quad is still not quite even and I got a titanium rod and pins in that leg. Can't do certain things, like heavy squats are a no go and I can't even throw a Muay Thai style roundhouse because of the torque which sends my leg in to spasms. Like I can take a few kicks there but can't throw a power kick. Much respect to Tom for being a fucking animal

  • I had a knee dislocation and lower leg hyper extension of 90°, I was basically kneeling backwards. 3 out of the four ligaments snapped in two and I had foot paralysis for nearly 2 years (a small miracle it came back at all, it wasn’t supposed to after 18 months), and developed ‘Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (a nerve pain disorder) as well. The incremental road to recovery for such injuries was unbelievable, I would say I have hyper-empathy when I see something like this happen to someone. Really happy Tom’s doing so well.
