Macros for this “low cal” burger look to be 900+ calories, 77g protein, 65 carbs, 37g fat. (I’m guessing on measurements for the condiments and the method for making caramelized onions, which is typically sauté in a few tbsp of olive and butter). My maintenance calories hang around 2400-2500 per day. This burger would encompass one whole meal plus a snack. It’s 70% of my total fat calories and doesn’t match the protein from other sources. Looks tasty, but by no objective measure is it low calorie.

Too much fat for people like me who feel best with moderate fat, too high carb for low carb adherists and a lot of protein to digest in one sitting. Certainly not an optimal weight loss food but it would be fine on a cheat day.

one tip about cast iron (this includes things like enamel coated), when people say "get it super hot," they don't mean to put it on the highest heat. you need to use a medium-low (or even low) heat and wait a while until it gets super hot (could take like at least 5 minutes). they hold heat very well, but they need a low heat so it heats up evenly.

I WAS ABT TO SAY THAT
Macros for this “low cal” burger look to be 900+ calories, 77g protein, 65 carbs, 37g fat.
Yea this guy is drunk or something, I’d eat this on a bulk if I wasn’t a lazy fuck that hates cooking
idk if he used 1/3 lb beef per patty or for two patties but if he meant the latter then the burger is like 650 calories assuming it is lean beef.
Too much fat for people like me who feel best with moderate fat, too high carb for low carb adherists and a lot of protein to digest in one sitting. Certainly not an optimal weight loss food but it would be fine on a cheat day.
I don’t think a burger bun is 65 carbs. More like 25. This is almost keto. I would get rid of one bun as a cheat day.
There’s some pretty good low-carb bread out there now. It’s mostly made with some kind of fiber. Aldi’s has sandwich bread and tortillas that are pretty good.

one tip about cast iron (this includes things like enamel coated), when people say "get it super hot," they don't mean to put it on the highest heat. you need to use a medium-low (or even low) heat and wait a while until it gets super hot (could take like at least 5 minutes). they hold heat very well, but they need a low heat so it heats up evenly.
agreed, this makes sure your seasoning stays on! On one of my pans I’d heat up at max and the seasoning would flake off often. Started doing what you recommend and it’s never happened now in years
@@madtonesbr can confirm, when i was younger i though you just blast it max stove heat for for a bit and its good, doing this on medium-low heat for 3-4mins and then cooking anything is massive improvement. Definitely recommend trying this.

@@4purs Caramelized onions are mostly butter/oil. That's how the natural sugars within the onions caramelize rather than the onion just drying out.
That same caloric meal 3 times a day plus light/healthy snacking between meals is still only about 2500 calories per day. That's not a lot at all if a person is even lightly active. The average person burns that in a day just resting. Shouldn't feel bad about these numbers at all, depending on your goals. Enjoy!
This looks fantastic, but keep an eye on the amount of sugar present in ketchup, A-1, and W sauce. Even with the amount shown, you're well WELL into double-digit grams of sugar territory.
