No sous vide and then torch?? We will see ...
I mean it’s not a weird method it’s just like deep frying chicken. It’s not the method that’s weird, deep frying is normal, it’s just the meat, cause deep frying beef is kinda weird.

As a Minnesotan, I couldn't help but laugh that you wanted to do a Minnesota accent for the Butter Burger, from Wisconsin, but not our burger, the Juicy Lucy.

Fellow Minnesotan, I am offended

Whenever I use your recipes, they always turn out amazing. Even if I mess up a step or two, it still comes out great. But when I try using other people's recipes, it just doesn't seem to work as well. You're like a culinary wizard or something! Keep those recipes coming!
As a First Nations person, seeing the frybread burger rise to top of the ranks was a feel good moment
Right! Let's go bannock.
Okay I was watching this and was wondering if anyone else realized the frybread. Was not expecting it for a burger method but was super happy to see the good rating 🙌
The fry bread is actually also a very traditional and popular dish in South Africa coming from the Afrikaans culture and is called vetkoek here translated directly to fat cake. It is made exactly the same as in the video but is fried without any stuffing just the dough itself

Making those smash burgers double patties would have potentially been more fair because (as Kendrick implied) the meat to bun ratio does matter.
not only that but 10 seconds later he makes a double patty burger and surprise it takes first place
Agreed, also felt he "fancified" the patty melt to make it win (two types of cheese, in-n-out sauce and onions), where the others got nothing
@@Danope6200 tbh the moment he switched from the methods section to the classics the fairness is already gone, the judges are now rating different variations of burgers instead of methods
@@mynameisjeff484 not to mention pretty much everything after that point that wasn’t specifically not a smash burger was basically a smash burger. It’s hard to beat the smash burger if you get the meat ratio right. Which again is probably why every burger after it that didn’t specify to do it some way other than a smash burger was pretty much a smash burger.
@@TheNamelessTed idk about that. The burger that made MacDonalds a cultural icon was a single 1/10 lb patty on a bun with toppings. If you were really hungry you'd get three or four. People are just getting more decadent over time.

Once again great video Josh. Enjoyed the ride all the way. I wonder - you found out. What a team we are
1. Use the same buns on every burger, and make the testers eat 28 burgers. 2. Watch your testers mark the two burgers that didn't use the same buns the highest - not for the burger, but for the bun.
And not even let them try the final product!
Bro made the weakest looking Juicy Lucy on top of it
Yeah but if you are trying to do a taste test you want to have everything the same so that there are as few variables as possible
I know this is late but I imagine these videos are made over the course of 2 months because I can't imagine making someone eat that many bites of a burger in one day or even in a week. People would get so tired of eating the burger that the taste would become gross not long after.
@@CubanPanda you think they're gonna spread the filming of a burger tasting video over the course of 2 months? that would be logistically insane and expensive compared to getting everything together and cooking all of them in the same day. this wasnt scientific, its entertainment, which has production constraints

The guy in the middle reminds me of Cam when it comes to steak😂I love him!!!
Frybread, in South Africa we call it Vetkoek, (directly translated, fat cake). It's very popular and served with chicken mayo or savory mince (amongst many other variations). The burger idea is an interesting one, one difference, the Vetkoek is cooked beforehand and ingredients added afterwards.
During my childhood in Australia we were doing it tough and one of my favourite foods (that was very cheap) was "bread and dripping". Precooked bread fried in fat. I know it is depression food and I'm not that old ( 65 ) but it still tastes good. These days the bread is two slices with butter and cheese in between but the frying is still in dripping.
Came to the comments to see if anyone explained that the fry bread was vetkoek 😂
Vetkoek, fat cake, igwinya are the most common name for it in South Africa. It's very easy to make.
Awe bru😂 didn’t think I’d see any fellow South Africans here
There's a food court called Fat Cake City in my area and they make vetkoek burgers.

Method 30 reminds me of Vetkoek here in South Africa. Take a Vetkoek dough, put a patty in it and then fry. Sounds interesting! We usually fry the dough and then put stuff on it like it was a bun. Most of the time, it's curry mince.

I've never once heard the rule on Jucy Lucies not allowing any other fixings. Not shocked it didn't perform well without some sauce. I also get the feeling that the Smash Burger would have done better if it were a double patty, the texture of a double patty double cheese Smash Burger is extremely hard to beat. That said, a Smoked Steakhouse Frybread burger... yeah I can understand why that's the holy trinity. I want to try that now.
agreed 100% about the double patty, single patty on a smash burger doesnt seem right to me
It's just plain stupid that the smash burgers weren't double.
Jucy lucy should have had more cheese inside the patty, a slice on top and sauce.
The amount of dedication, concentration, patience, effort, and WORK that you put into this video is ELITE.
What? This is less effort than like 90% of the dudes videos. The taste testers have a much harder job here and they sucked at it. What is the absolute worst is that half of the burgers he had no idea how to make them properly and failed at it.

I really like the specifying of specific kind of meat, bun, etc. As it keeps everything fair and balanced. Then if people would like to use an alternate bun or something like Chorizo patty, they have 30 methods to decide which they want to use. Props to pappa for sticking to the "method" being the key difference and allows all the trends and variations to be applied on their own.

Butter burgers (Culvers) are from WI, which is where much of the dairy production is in the midwest. The first Culvers restaurant is 20 minutes from my house.
I love experimenting!
Considering he did the Texas toast one with 2 patties I feel as though he should have done 2 patties for all of the smash burgers too because he himself said he does his smash burgers with 2 patties and all of their ratings were consistently lower due to not having enough meat and tasting too much like bread
Also it bugged me that at the end it still says the old tied second place burgers are in second place when now it should be the Luther burger lol like that was ranked second best and just fully got booted off the scoreboard as soon as it wasn’t first best
he prepped the patty melt so much better too lol, lame
I don't feel like Kendrick should be part of the jury, he gives weird notes to decent burgers while the other 2 are kinda appreciating the taste. My George Foreman grill has been the best sandwich/panini press for the last 10-12 years, maybe more. I would never thinking of cooking anything on it - just a double sided, ribbed (for all of our pleasures) toaster press!
Never realized just how much specialty cooking equipment there is. I had never even heard of most of the things you used.
Tip of the iceberg, it gets crazy. You can fill a few garages with them.
I love how cooking tells its own unique story, just like in a good book or movie. It's wonderful how the journey from ingredients to the finished dish is an adventure in itself.
Oh Josh... I totally wish I was the 4th judge on this panel. You always make me so hungry with the food you make.
I kinda left the channel for the last year because too many sandwich and unhealthy recipes. But I see that you really got some hot new content with the crab fishing, 100 food hacks and all that. Hello, thank you for the video! I would have liked to see the judges try the ultimate burger to see how they'd rate it. I would also have liked their reasoning for their ratings, especially Kendrick, who seemed to have low ratings for a lot of them. I wonder if the judges eating burger after burger affected the ratings at all? Kendrick with his "everyone is so creative" got me laughing so bad I choked. Good work everyone!
Kendrick was the hardest to please for a reason. His answers were actually well spot on.
I get the feeling Kendrick was more playing hard to get than honestly rating them. That 9 was so random I'd love to see the 10

It pained me that we didn't get to see them try the final culmination!
I feel like maybe he likes his burgers a little more or less well-done than the average person. Kind of how I love my chicken breast and salmon to be just barely cooked enough to be safe but still very juicy, whereas my spouse wants hers cooked until it's what I'd consider "dry"
The effort this man and his team put in these videos is awesome. Josh you are my culinary role model. You are so dope for doing this video. Also I have a sweetspot for burgers. Best for to ever exist for me. Lol

You missed the Pastrami burger. We have at least three restaurants that serve their own version of it in Utah. Top 5 best food videos in youtube, hands down. The amount of work going into making this video gotta be insane. Props to everyone, but especially the producer & editor.
Joshua-Awesome Tube channel and I love this take on soo many burgers and for me the Cuban Fritta is the Bomb. Have you done a hotdog type of video like this? If so send me the link, thanks. Much love from Colorado
I'm glad you teamed up with Uncle Roger so I could find out about your channel. It's pretty entertaining. I like the energy and jokes. What about a burger Wellington? Gordon Ramsay might hate you, but he'll get over it.
Patty Melt will always come out on top for me. Something about simply two things of toast, double patties and cheese is just enough to make anyone happy.
I first time I saw the Luther burger was in the Boondocks animated series. I then found out it was also the origin of the burger. Grandad’s version was far more indulgent and when people ate it they would get a food coma prompting the restaurant to get beds instead of tables.
People worked a lot more than, we have become coddled by tech. It is a lot easier to eat a slightly burger when you do manual labor instead of sit on a chair and type all day. When I get out I do 15000 to 20000 steps a days not 500.
And I'm sure all of your steps are uphill in the rain, too. You aren't worse than cubicle office workers for doing manual labor, but you aren't better than them either. Your weird elitism aside, having worked construction for a few summers you're absolutely right about being ready to tear through a massive lunch after spending all day hauling things to the dumpster during demo.
