  • At first I thought that you're just going to explain the history of the golden ratio, the importance etc. while playing an annoying background music. However the way you deliver it was so great, plus your voice was pleasant to my ears and even showed us a demonstration. Thank you very much for teaching us this.

  • Finally, someone created a video that thoroughly explains the golden ratio in a way that most people can probably understand. This is fairly straightforward video with good visuals, which I would like to use for teaching my students. It would be great if you could refine this and make a shorter version for students and mention that it’s also known by other names such as the golden mean. I would like to see more close-up photos of the golden ratio in nature with arrows pointing out the patterns in flowers and such. Slowing it down for students would make a very good video great. Thanks for this wonderful video.

  • I find the golden rectangle and Fibonacci series absolutely fascinating. The fact that it appears everywhere in nature, and is also pleasing to the human eye, proves to me that there is intelligent design in the universe and that no “big bang” could produce such beautiful order. Explosions do not produce order; they produce chaos.

    @ShoshiPlatypus@ShoshiPlatypus4 жыл бұрын
    • An alternative point of view: There is so much chaos, that recurring patterns are inevitable, and the human desire to find meaning in the meaningless causes us to latch onto unrelated phenomenon.

      @TipTut@TipTut4 жыл бұрын
    • TipTut Hardly. This pattern is so precise, and so universal, that it goes way beyond coincidence. Albert Einstein once said that the one incomprehensible thing about the universe was that it was comprehensible.

    • @@ShoshiPlatypus Well it's an entirely subjective point, so whatever makes you happy! :)

    • @N S Brilliant comment! Thank you! In the Bible, the number 4 signifies the earth (physical world, not in terms of “worldliness”). The four corners of the earth, the 4 compass points, the 4 winds of heaven etc etc. This is probably why so much of life is built around this number. 4 chambers of the heart, too! I have done a study on the Tetragrammaton and have used this in arguments with JWs on the doorstep as to why they should not say “Jehovah” which is a made-up word coming from a complete lack of understanding of how the Hebrew works, and the vowel points. You are so right about the human body being an engineering marvel! “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvellous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Ps 139:14). It is fascinating that in the New Testament, Paul says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Eph. 22:10) - the Greek translated “workmanship” can also be translated “poem” or “masterpiece” which is interesting in view of what you say. I am fascinated by the evidence of Information in creation - information comes from an intelligent source and could not have evolved by chance - DNA is the most efficient and most compact information storage system in the universe! This has to be of divine origin and is the most staggering thing. I have always been hopeless at maths but can grasp the awesomeness and purity of numbers and their universality, and recognise that God the Creator is the ultimate Mathematician! Albert Einstein once said that the one incomprehensible thing about the universe is that it is comprehensible! May God bless you.

  • This is excellent if you subscribe to the idea that using golden ratios is aesthetically pleasing. Case studies have shown this not to be the case, and a mathematician at Stanford explained people show no more preference to these than any other ratio. If you try the logo again without using these circles (just use regularly sized circles) then run a poll i bet neither will be a clear winner.

  • I’m not sure if the golden ratio is used to design or maybe just many designs fit to it in the same way that nature does. I mean I could just draw a curved line in illustrator and of course if I put a circle next to it the chances are that the curve will align to the circle. However, it’s a good idea to practice using this theory if you don’t have much experience just so that you can train your eye to what looks pleasing etc
