All of the over spray is good in the bird's drinking water! Personally, I would've painted everything first with paint that's safe for animals, then add water, plants, etc.
Then rinsed it several times. Several changes of water before adding fish or other animals.
one can only speculate how much the fish must have enjoyed the paint overspray in the water.

question: the cement may be okay for the fish but the paints that you have sprayed is toxic to the fish. You cannot use paint.
No the cement is bad if not sealed, acid
there's blue "paint" that's pond/pool liner which should be fine. It all depends on the type of paint and not all paint is waterproof so I'd hope they used fish-safe paint. Though given the kind of fish they slapped in there... only so much faith you can have in this channel. That went from "huh, neat" straight into animal abuse, lol.

At the beginning, I saw potential and had great anticipation for the end product. That was until I didn't see him preparing a typical base and then he put some bright colors that didn't go with nature at all. That's when I lost hope for an amazing finished product.
1) why does it need a base? Why not just dig a little divet in the ground? It's made of concrete if you get it level it won't go anywhere. Not any harder than making a base. 2) the color one uses to paint something is ALWAYS a personal preference. Their culture is bright and bold. Not to blend in & disappear. However, you could paint it anyway you wanted. 3) I probably don't like the umbrella handle idea at all so when I make it, and I will be making it, I will cut it off lower and cover it with concrete.put a side hole in for my solar pump cord and throw it in. My birds will love it!

@@oops6186 you're a schmuck who doesn't know anything about fish.1) fish jump out of the water bc they aren't getting enough oxygen. In laymen's terms so that even you can understand he hadn't let the water fountain run long enough to get the oxygen regulated enough for them. 2) he was using a water based paint. you can tell this by the way it looked when he thinned it out. Not to mention, most non commercial paint sprayers can't handle oil based paints ( it's too hard to clean them out and will ruin them quickly. ). so it's clear you know nothing about paint sprayers either. Water based paints are safe for fish and are what most aquariums use. like in zoos, what humans swim in, etc. so if you want to be as obtuse and ignorant as the rest of the others be my guest. Or if you simply don't believe me google it. it isn't that rocket science, even a child can do it. None are so blind as those who refuse to see. And i will be making one! not for fish, but as a large birdbath, i will be cutting the handle almost to the base and covering it, so that my solar floating aerator can just float around in it. . in a video like this you take what you need for inspiration. My birds are going to love it as the heat index gets up to well over 100 f in my area. (no i didn't like him tossing the ducklings in it.).

Exactly! From the moment I saw them paint the upper tray while having already water on the tray below, I thought this was for the view, not the animals. Then, watching one fish attempt to commit suicide and looking at such large fish in that tiny space, made me hit the dislike button.

The dog could have allergies, just saying. I had a German Shepherd who was allergic to several types of grass, trees, fungi, potatoes, milk, eggs, peas, oats and rice 😔 I had him on meds after trying two rounds of injections, and even the meds didn't take away the itch 100%

All depends on the type/brand of paint used, there are specific types of paint that are non toxic. However, it's not clear on the video what kind was used, nevertheless it looks like normal spray paint was used, so you do have a point.

I actually kind of like the concept for a small fountain. Except I'd probably just make it a fountain where the water flows out from the end of the U shaped handle of the umbrella. And I probably wouldn't use a real umbrella as a base. If you just keep it simple and don't use all that spray paint, it'd make for a pretty cool fountain/bird bath

So let me understand you correctly. You're going to disassemble an umbrella, then make a large reinforced concrete bowl that you will have to then attach the umbrella handle to? MMMMM sounds like just as much if not more. Bc the umbrella itself is your form. How/ if you paint something is a personal preference. Regardless it will still need to be treated somehow.

I thought so too. I knew the wee ducklings would be OK but that is besides the point. They were a bit freaked out and all the fish got traumatised never mind the big one floating on its side from shock. His DIY is not awesome I doubt that paint was nontoxic.

Interesting & cool idea for a project. Obviously not such a great idea for fish, or ducks. Spray painting a part in place after putting the water in, was not a good thing to do. I imagine the contamination of the water is not good for plants or animals.
