  • Ronnie playing down any anger or animosity towards Vafaei, so he goes into the match calm, relaxed, and ready to just let his cue do the talking. Absolutely brilliant strategy.

    • Ronnie went to Tesco Express in Cardiff a few years ago straight after being knocked out of the Welsh Open and bought a homeless person some food, Not many people saw. I met him once and he was so 'normal' - Hossein might regret a few things he's been saying recently.

    • @@pussiestroker That's ok to talk about your ambitions as a player - even to the extent of talk about dethroning the champion. But you should really stay away from the personal stuff if at all possible. Not many people have the steel to shut off their emotions when it matters. Ronnie does - Vafaei, I'm not so sure. He's taking a risk. Then again, I suppose it might work. He probably knows he doesn't have the game to do it on that alone so he's throwing another variable into the mix.

Id like to go on record - before I say what I'm about to say - that Ronnie is the best thing to ever happen to snooker and anyone who truly loves this game loves Ronnie. That being said .. This is what bullys do when you stand up to them. The Persian fella didn't just stand up, he got in his face. He said "that will shut some peoples mouths.." She said "what people?" "Ronnie". 😂😂😂😂 That's a ballsy call right before you play a bloke - no matter who he is. And what did the bully do? Damage control. Eases the pressure. Ronnie's good at that. In other years its acting like he doesn't give a shit. He's right on brand. I would've prefered the pressure right up. But I'm still looking forward to this...

  • Dude hussein is realy tryn hard to convert the persian slangs into the english language but in some ways can be missunderstandable and be rude but i know what he was saying cuase i'm persian and that is he wants to get some respect when he is in top 16 and he showed us that he can make some shots that we as crowds love to see ... so as ronnie said it is not personal it is all about cultural missunderstandings in competing

  • Ronnie knows when he said he’d send hendry back to his boring life in Scotland that didn’t end well 2002 semi. Also Stephen didn’t talk to him for a year after it

  • Ronnie is not perfect, but Vafaei is just using him for clout in this situation. We'll see if he can back it up on the table.

  • Vafaei is obviously a bit of a joker but clearly a decent bloke. Like every snooker fan, he knows Ronnie is a living legend and he has nothing but respect for him. He’s just trying to shake things up a bit and I’m all for it. Makes a nice change from the Chinese players giving Ronnie so much respect that it effects their game.

  • Sounds like Vafei realised that's it's not healthy to idolise someone and try to mimic their behaviour. Only, instead of blaming himself for letting it get to that point, he wants to blame Ronnie for being Ronnie.
