  • The fact that Jimmy white is on this list having earned the same prize money totals 30 or 40 years ago, when there were like 6 tournaments a season and the money was way less, as the top players now is insane and shows how good he really was

I'm not in the slightest interested in football, but it seems to me that a major difference is that footballers have a much briefer period to cash in, as do cyclists. Snooker players can keep playing for many years. Not at their peak, but still pretty good. Fred Davis played into his sixties, and possibly after. I met him on the Pot Black tour in 1974, when he was already 61, along with Rex Williams and Sidney Lee who was the Pot Black referee.

  • Don’t forget this list is just prize money. Which is actually not that much. Murphey average was just over 100k a year since he turned pro around 98/99. A very good plumber can destroy that total pocketing 3k a week. I do roofing and I do it on my own with a roof per week. Bigger roofs that you can stick 5k in your pocket normally take me 10 days. Keep that up for the amount of time Murphey has been pro and you blow his average out the water. These guys are earning way more than their average prize money in sponsorship deals and appearance charges.

Regardless of the opponent. No true knowledgeable snooker fan would begrudge him at least one more. @MorganSullivan@MorganSullivan2 жыл бұрын
  • Not a very clever vid. The values for Davis, Hendry and White should have been adjusted to bring them up to current values. Prize money has increased and this effect should have been taken into account. Next point these values don't reflect additional earnings from media platforms, books, naming on equipment, guest appearances etc etc. These additional earnings would be a true reflection of the titled misnomer "Richest Snooker Players". Finally you don't spell until with two Ls.

    @johnswarbrick2365@johnswarbrick23652 жыл бұрын
    • That's why the title is "Richest snooker players in the world by prize money". Maybe you should make a video that includes sponsorships and paid promotion etc. and that takes into account inflation rates that reflect the "true value" of the prize money earned. You'd still come to the conclusion that Ronnie is the greatest snooker player to ever exist, so maybe don't be a smart arse your whole life, if you don't like the video that much to complain about it maybe you should make your own. Perhaps I'll watch it and complain about it for no reason

      @makethat4coffins856@makethat4coffins8562 жыл бұрын
    • @@makethat4coffins856 Firstly you just lost the argument by insulting me personally. Poor response to a valid comment. Secondly you seem to have missed it. The headline title on the vid screen was and still is "The Richest -- etc- 2022, but the secondary title below the screen was "The richest Snooker players untill 2022". Note the mis-spelling of the word "untill". This title has now been changed to what you read now. Secondly, if Hendry's winnings were brought up to date and inline with Sullivan's then you would see that Sullivan drops to number 2. I've also done the maths and used current prize money levels earned by Hendry up to date by titles won. Thirdly and finally, Sullivan can be regarded as today's greatest but the most natural and intuitive was Higgins, and if you also take into account that balls, tables and cloths have improved so dramatically over the last 40 years then the case that Sullivan would then drop back into second place can also be made on this count as well. You probably don't remember Higgins as you are probably too young, but I can hear you shouting from the audience "come on Ronnie" in tribal battle chant at every game where your hero plays. Every decade or so a new "greatest player" arrives on the scene. The next one will be from China and will eclipse both Higgins and Sullivan. Don't bother to reply and slag me off with more insults as your mail will go straight into me trash bin, unread, where it is deserved.

    • It's 'O'Sullivan' 😂 you're right mate I shouldn't even bother replying to that, Hendry himself has said the greatest player to ever grace the table is O'Sullivan, and John Higgins is still playing snooker, so I'd have to have not been born yet to not know who he is.. I'm just trying to stand up for the guy whose video you've just shat all over 😂

    • @@makethat4coffins856 I intended not to open your reply up but hey ho curiosity got the better of me. My apologies I shouldn't have been so spikey. I'm old enough to have now seen all the best players over the last 50 years and to have met a good many of them. I count Selby and Selt as friends - both nice guys., although Murphy is probably the nicest and most genuine of all of today's players. Naturally Hendry will applaud Sullivan, as being the greatest as being a modest man in his own right he would not say "I'm the greatest". But if you take all the championship wins at today's prize money Hendry is ahead of Sullivan. I still maintain that Alex Higgins (not John) was the most gifted and intuitive. He just had a problem with vodka and his head not being wired together properly. Anyway enjoy the game and enjoy life.

    • @@johnswarbrick2365 I apologise also, I should not have insulted you, the heat of discussion can bring out the bad in people.. Awesome that you know some of the guys on the tour! We can debate who the best is, I think it will always be disputed, it's always difficult in any sport to pin down who the GOAT is. I'm not saying he's the best, but Mark Williams is by far my favourite player, he plays the game in a way no one ever has I think, incredibly creative, just a shame about the consistency sometimes.. Anyway, take care, no bad feelings 👍

  • Here is a truth : the total money a best ever snooker player makes by his whole career is just a normal NBA player’s one-year salary

    @panamerap6598@panamerap65982 жыл бұрын
    • Well while it's true that the NBA stars earn a lot more these don't reflect the true wealth of the snooker players who make a lot more through endorsements, advertising, exhibition games,punditry etc Also some of the older players salaries are from the 80s and 90s so these should be changed to what they'd be worth today. I know that the NBA players earn this way as well so your point still stands,I'm just pointing out that they are actually worth more than this video suggests

  • Higgins earned nearly 10 million pounds and still agreed to frame fixing for 300k. Shows you what an absolute piece of garbage he really is. (Yes, I know it was a set up and he didn't throw the frames, but he was fully willing to). He really owes his life to Barry Hearn and his manager. If he hadn't gotten him off the charges an and if his manager hadn't taken in his sword for him, he'd have faced criminal charges, eventually.
