I didn’t know in my mind if I would like Selby, but after watching that I have total respect for him, he gave just a little of his time to others who waited for a selfie or an autograph. He’s a top bloke in my book now. 👏👏👏

You would think that Ronnie O'Sullivan would give something back to his adoring fans, they've been supporting him for many years.
@mrme9580 Жыл бұрын
He does in many ways that people either seem to ignore or just don't know about. (his merch being one of the biggest things that thankfully isn't ignored but is something massive that he gives back). He's one of, if not the biggest name in Snooker and it's not wonder that with the amount of attention he gets from both fan and press alike, who can blame him for not particularly wanting to get too involved. A little crowd ackowledgment (he gave a slight wave) is just as good as actually interacting. At least it's something.

I spent time with Stallone in London whilst I worked for him in 1994 and he signed everything and let his fans photograph him sometimes taking 30 minutes each trip each way everytime he was in public. My parents live very near to Ronnie and see him occasionally. They are friends with another neighbour who spends a lot of time jogging, and therefore bumps into Ronnie very frequently. That guy told my parents that he's terrified to greet Ronnie when they pass each other, since half the time he'll respond with a "hello" and a friendly smile, but the other half of the time he'll cast you a murderous look or outright just tell you to fuck off. Absolute nonsense you don't know what's going on in someone's life, they're human beings, how would you like being pestered by stranger's every time you go out in public. Snooker players make money from sponsors prize money the fans financial contribution would not pay a week's expenses. I've met Ronnie a couple of times he came out for a meal with a group of friends and was very nice bloke very humble, I don't believe celebrities like being famous unless they're narcissistic. People should learn to love themselves as much as they do celebrities the world would be a better place for it.

The whole problem with Fans is that they have a false sense of entitlement. Some, almost to the point of obsessiveness. It's not normal. These guys are just people at the end of the day. If they want to be left alone then leave them alone. If they want to have a chat and a bit of banter then that's also up to them. I feel sorry for sports people and stars in general. Once the public gets hold of you the chance of having a normal, inconspicuous life goes out the window.

Watching this, it's so refreshing to see Mark Selby so relaxed and taking time with the fans. My opinion of him has improved greatly watching this. Also Gary and John, who took time out to make several fans' day.
You would think that Ronnie O'Sullivan would give something back to his adoring fans, they've been supporting him for many years.
@@hystericalwolfyes his merch that he profits from is how he gives back 😂😂😂
Met Mark Selby briefly at the snooker before he was that famous. He's a good guy who's got time for people.
I spent time with Stallone in London whilst I worked for him in 1994 and he signed everything and let his fans photograph him sometimes taking 30 minutes each trip each way everytime he was in public. I was exhausted watching his patience and love for his fans. When I see a new movie star not giving anything back Stallone is a legend and appreciates who he owes for his success.
I lost respect for him and Arnold the way they succumbed to the government agenda of refugees & vax.
What did you do for him ie work?
@@metrobar3367 I thought it was asylum seekers. Must be interchangeable when it suits the jew's of Cains' agenda. Global warming/climate change being an example
Yeah ne needed the fans back tgen, he doesnt now. Disposable people
@@metrobar3367 people like you think everything is an agenda without any proof.
pure time for Mark, lovely fella
Selby is a top notch guy
It must be a pain being asked all the time so respect to ones who are polite
Ronnie was going somewhere. Doubt he would have blanked the fans. He did acknowledge them in all fairness.
JP, Gary and Mark have not and will not forget their roots. Classy chaps. Ronnie is Ronnie.. he has to do things his way, but in fairness he has a higher profile
Complicated fellow, that one. :)
He has been given a halo over the years, by commenters, idiots shouting, he lives in the world of his own! Snooker is not about that!
Lol, one word might be complicated... there are other words I might choose though!
Maybe he just doesn't like being stalked
I was walking through Leicester shopping centre 3 weeks ago, looked up & said, that's Mark Selby...i reached out to shake his hand & he said hello. Shook my hand & casually walked on whilst i wished him well. Total respect to Mark...👏👏, a very humble guy! Don't get me started on O'Sullivan....arrogant prat!
has no one seen the documentary on Ronnie O'Sullivans life ????? he explains clearly that he has a phobia of interaction with people like that respect it......
Selby one hell of a player great guy as well I remember seeing Jimmy White at an airport I pointed at him from a distance telling my daughter who he was she had no idea. Jimmy saw me and came over and chatted .I was shocked no edge to him he seemed to want to chat .He was flying out with his manager to a tournament .Even though it was a time when he had dropped down the rankings you could tell he loved the game
He acknowledged the crowd. Didn't sign autographs or take photos but, didn't blank them either 🙄
Selby is a top bloke. He realises how much he needs the fans. Ronnie thinks the fans need him
It's actually both ways.
@@northernthrifter8817The sponsors are interested in the first place because of the fans' attention - if nobody watched the game, there'd be no sponsors and no prize money.
@@northernthrifter8817 this wasn't someone walking up to him in tescos it was outside snookers flagship event, there were kids there just wanting a picture with or an autograph from their idol. He couldn't be arsed. He's the best player to ever pick a cue up but I don't like his attitude to the sport or most of his fellow pros and fans. Your entitled to your opinion and so am I
If Ronnie stopped for one picture, he’d be there for hours… I think he just avoids it because you can’t just give one or two people that wouldn’t be fair on the others
Good on gary Wilson too
Love Ronnie. What a gent ❤️
I'll never forget me and my mate Tom, travelling up to the Ricoh arena to watch Ronnie in the champion of champions. We were in the casino next door which was absolutely dead and we couldn't believe our luck when Ronnie started walking through and me and my mate politely asked him for a photo ,bearing in mind there was 4 of us in total in the whole place, he just looked at us both and said "na I don't do photos" and walked straight past us 😂 we were so annoyed we started cheering for marco fu in the match lol
Selby was exactly the same when I was there in 2007, legend 🤩🇦🇺
Top bloke Mark Selby, a Champion off the table too!
Gary Wilson probably doesn't realise how much of an inspiration he is to his fans... he's struggled with mental health issues, yet his fans adore him
I think it's obvious that Ronnie isn't really a "fans" kinda guy. He's borderline autistic, if not on the spectrum. He's a reclusive guy. He woukd play snooker even it was for nobody and for no money. He's nice enough of your friends with him but not really a famous extrovert. He's a kooky eccentric genius type. He didn't pretend to be anything other than that
He plays for the money only. He said that.
Whether he said that or not, people need to leave him alone, when he wants to be left alone, simple really.
@@mikemorris4548 Lol
Mark Selby was awesome. my opinions changed of him. lol
His snooker has been great. But behaviour is never right. All take . Never gives. Welldone mark. Total gentleman.
Credit to Selby, he takes equally long time off the table with the fans.. Respect
I tell you what mark selby is a true gentleman big respect to him 👊👊👊
Mark Selby is a real Champion with a big C with the fans. John Parrot and Gary Wilson too. Ronnie... is a Champion of... evading fans...
Think mark selby is my new favourite player, what a lovely guy
Fans are what make sports stars who they are , you have to give something back when you see them like that , fair play to the 3 lads and great to see them walking in with no ego's or anything , just happy to be normal
Mark Selby, John Parrot top guys! always remember your fans ....Its very important, they helped put you where you are!
He lifted his cue to the crowd - that's literally acknowledging, not blanking.
He's in tournament mode too so can't really knock him.
Don't make excuses
And I lift the seat when I piss.
To daft come on Ronnie fans
He didn’t spend 30 seconds with his fans or sign one autograph that’s blanking in my book. He’s out now anyway after throwing his match with Brecel.
He doesn’t blank them, he raises his cue in acknowledgment, granted he didn’t spend time with them, but he didn’t blank them at all. Fair play to Mark, John and Gary. Big respect to those 3 boys.
If that's a raise then he can't get it up.
Not really a peoples champion like Jimmy or Alex.
@@bjrnchrstn Ronnie is an actual champion, not a 'people's champion'
@Bill O'Reilly selby has won plenty but he doesn't act like a prick
@@boreilly82 To be a "Champion" the Crucible only counts? Jimmy might not have won one there, although very close a few times, but WAS a champion, but Alex Did, he was class. The ones I liked to watch the most: S. Hendry A. Higgins J. White J. Higgins R. O'Sullivan Even though a great player on his day, I never really understood the rally behind Ronnie though, as he doesn't even hold the game in high regards or the fans either, yet loads fall at his feet, but he never shows that kind of appreciation back. He ain't that interested at all. The fans are the ones who put money in their pockets, so at least take 2 mins with your fans who have travelled miles to see you!
Many congratulations to Luca Brecel, and also to Mark Selby, who’s had a tough time recently, but made a 147 in the final and was very gracious. Who are the Safety Police?
I love this VDO clips, it has tons of Snooker players.
what else you expect from Ronnie, unlike others he’s far from a gentleman, he’s to full of his own importance in the game,
Not really ignore, he just made a quick get away.
I might have gone full circle on Selby, going from half the tour calling him the most negative player to make a 147 in the final and playing attacking and attractive snooker: I'm back to being a Selby fan, not least because of what you see here, he does put in miles and makes time for the fans unlike some others.
Always liked Mark Selby - even more now. Lovely guy
that was very intresting .nice of them to talk to normal folks .
Nice to see Mark Selby smile... in the arena he is like a robot, but this showed he is a human being after all. Well done... Ronnie is the English Alex Higgins, you don't know what you are gonna get depending on mood.
Mark Selby, John Parrot and Gary Wilson was lovely to see. It's a shame to see that from Ronnie - people who love this guy must have been heartbroken whilst getting blanked. Sad really 😞
Have you considered that it might be incredibly difficult for him to engage with them in that way? (Yes, there are a lot of us who find these things overwhelming...he may just be an arsehole, or maybe, just maybe, he might not...)
It means an awful lot to fans when their hero takes a moment to have a picture with them
Lovely guy Mark
What a top guy Mark Selby is
oh I so hope Selby wins the whole thing. what a man. what a legend.
It is not going well 😕
I think Ronnie is the only player who is being chauffeured in a Maybach every day
@@rapidreaper That’s a nearly 200k car

Real Champions and Sports people show true class and remember their roots and make time for all fans.🌞🌞
Parrots carrier bag is so scouse grandad it’s unreal.
That's just not any bag. It's a Marks & Spencer bag 😂
Strange how people think that players are property 😜 Fair play to Ronnie - He has a life 👍
Entitlement culture. The same ones that are entitled to play their phone music loud on trains/buses
He wouldn't have it only for the fans
@@eringobreathtiocfaidharla1446 really?? So what part do the fans play in Ronnie practicing 6 hrs a day non stop for 30 years!!!
@@metrobar3367 no fans no snooker donkey, don't care if he practiced 24 hours a day
Without the fans you're just a guy using a stick to roll balls around a novelty table.
No, he didn't blank the crowd. Wrong thumbnail. Clickbait. He raised his cue in acknowledgement.
Being a foreigner, Canadian, I had to look up blanks. There is no way Ronnie blanked fans. He’s a little preoccupied, but I saw him talking to fans.
Fair play to Mark, this must be a real hassle to always do but I suppose it's only 5 minutes to say thanks to fans.
Being elite at a sport or music doesn't always go hand in hand with being comfortable around people, when you divide opinion to that degree it's understandable that he keeps a distance, it only takes one fruitcake and there's plenty of them out there
@Sergei1847 Oh germs, germs. Poor Ronnie, quick, let's get out of here.
Fair point, just ask Monica Seles
He didn't blank people he lifted his cue case up
What lovely lads. 👍
Marks a top fella and one of the greats so fuck the haters he’s granite
I saw Parrot in Junior Pot Black at Pebble Mill in Birmingham in roughly 1981.
Good on mark and john
Ronnie said a few years ago how much he dislikes being approached and basically the fans in general ; its an indictment on the mentality of them that he still has so many.
Some people enjoy privacy, they don't know who you are they owe you nothing. Just leave him alone. Would you like to be pestered by random strangers every time you walk down the street?
Someone should tell Damien Hirst that he isn’t 25.
Someone should tell Damien Hirst he's a terrible 'artist' and that getting technicians to do his 'work' which he then signs and sells for vast sums to gullible idiots doesn't make him this generations Warhol.
Totally shite clobber, I agree.
crowd: GENIUS !!
What a gentleman Eric Ten hag is.
Selby fair play to him gr8 player & gr8 guy 🤝🏽👍🏽
Mark is pure class what a great guy
What a gentleman listens to his story with Alan Brazil recently total respect pal
God I love Mark Selby that smile!
Ok sailor
Ronnie acknowledged the crowd by lifting up his cue to them. He didn't ignore them, just was not up for taking selfies.
People seem to forget he’s probably autographed, and taken thousands of pictures with fans over his whole career. This was just a small snippet of him leaving one of the many tournaments he’s going home from
@@jonnygti Sorry but it comes with the territory of being famous and "adored", though God knows why. I personally think he's a prick, but he has a lot of fans, so to just dash for the car, not say a word to any, take pics or sign anything is a prick move and let's not pretend it was a one off or make excuses for him. It completely fits his character.
selby has now entered "god" status, what a gent 👍👍
Doesn't surprise me one bit My mate was on the amateur circuit with him he said he was a bell end from an early age
I've never liked him and could never understand how so many could possibly support someone like that no matter how good he is. Here is yet more proof that the guy is a complete tool.
@@njc84 🤡
Serves you right!
You don't know what it's like til you're scrutinised for every little thing you do.
If he'd have still been in the tournament,he would have signed every one !
He hardly blanked them, he was been driven away by a waiting vehicle. The rest were strolling in.
Respect to Ronnie Knows what’s good for his mental health having to deal with bell meds all day chipping in with unfunny lines. I’d say currently Ronnies signed and spent time with phots HUNDRED times more than Selby
John Parrot. A lovely bloke.
He (Ronnie) might not have been in a good place that morning. Everyone has those off days. It doesn’t mean that he never signs any autographs or stops for photos. As for John, I used to see him regularly when I lived there; Terry Griffiths as well. Nice touch from Mark and Gary. 👍
Wouldn't say he blanked fans.. he does alrite ol Ronnie
Didn’t blank them totally, but definitely blanked their requests for signatures and photos
Very true.
