  • I didn’t know in my mind if I would like Selby, but after watching that I have total respect for him, he gave just a little of his time to others who waited for a selfie or an autograph. He’s a top bloke in my book now. 👏👏👏

    • Because he does whatever you ask him like a trained dog? The moment one day he says no and you lot will be all over him! turn on a sixpence, thats the trouble with fans obsessed with selfies, they dont even take into account how anyone else feels.

    • Exactly, people/fans can't keep effectively mocking a player for a photo/autograph, you gota be quick, read the players emotions etc, they're not friggin robots, they're human beings and have feelings also, but this is the unfortunate reality of an idiotic society now.

  • When players these days are playing, they're so focused (there's nothing wrong with that, as there is a lot at stake), but it make it hard for their personalities to be seen. Watching this, it's so refreshing to see Mark Selby so relaxed and taking time with the fans. My opinion of him has improved greatly watching this. Also Gary and John, who took time out to make several fans' day.

    @mrme9580@mrme9580 Жыл бұрын
    • He does in many ways that people either seem to ignore or just don't know about. (his merch being one of the biggest things that thankfully isn't ignored but is something massive that he gives back). He's one of, if not the biggest name in Snooker and it's not wonder that with the amount of attention he gets from both fan and press alike, who can blame him for not particularly wanting to get too involved. A little crowd ackowledgment (he gave a slight wave) is just as good as actually interacting. At least it's something.

  • I spent time with Stallone in London whilst I worked for him in 1994 and he signed everything and let his fans photograph him sometimes taking 30 minutes each trip each way everytime he was in public. I was exhausted watching his patience and love for his fans. When I see a new movie star not giving anything back Stallone is a legend and appreciates who he owes for his success.

  • My parents live very near to Ronnie and see him occasionally. They are friends with another neighbour who spends a lot of time jogging, and therefore bumps into Ronnie very frequently. That guy told my parents that he's terrified to greet Ronnie when they pass each other, since half the time he'll respond with a "hello" and a friendly smile, but the other half of the time he'll cast you a murderous look or outright just tell you to fuck off. Complicated fellow, that one. :)

    • Absolute nonsense you don't know what's going on in someone's life, they're human beings, how would you like being pestered by stranger's every time you go out in public. Snooker players make money from sponsors prize money the fans financial contribution would not pay a week's expenses. I've met Ronnie a couple of times he came out for a meal with a group of friends and was very nice bloke very humble, I don't believe celebrities like being famous unless they're narcissistic. People should learn to love themselves as much as they do celebrities the world would be a better place for it.

    • Someone should tell Damien Hirst he's a terrible 'artist' and that getting technicians to do his 'work' which he then signs and sells for vast sums to gullible idiots doesn't make him this generations Warhol.

    • People seem to forget he’s probably autographed, and taken thousands of pictures with fans over his whole career. This was just a small snippet of him leaving one of the many tournaments he’s going home from

    • @@jonnygti Sorry but it comes with the territory of being famous and "adored", though God knows why. I personally think he's a prick, but he has a lot of fans, so to just dash for the car, not say a word to any, take pics or sign anything is a prick move and let's not pretend it was a one off or make excuses for him. It completely fits his character.

  • He (Ronnie) might not have been in a good place that morning. Everyone has those off days. It doesn’t mean that he never signs any autographs or stops for photos. As for John, I used to see him regularly when I lived there; Terry Griffiths as well. Nice touch from Mark and Gary. 👍

  • The whole problem with Fans is that they have a false sense of entitlement. Some, almost to the point of obsessiveness. It's not normal. These guys are just people at the end of the day. If they want to be left alone then leave them alone. If they want to have a chat and a bit of banter then that's also up to them. I feel sorry for sports people and stars in general. Once the public gets hold of you the chance of having a normal, inconspicuous life goes out the window.
