On May 11, 2019, unified 154-pound world champion "Swift" Jarrett Hurd put his titles on the line against top contender Julian "J-Rock" Williams. This fight was broadcast live on FOX from EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.
As expected, Hurd came out slow, taking his time to adapt to Williams who wasted no time getting to work and landing hard shots, which Hurd took with ease.
In round 2, Williams landed with a shot to the temple which temporarily sent Hurd to the canvas.
Near the middle rounds, Hurd started to turn up the heat, but Williams' onslaught continued as well.
As the fight progressed, Hurd became noticeably exhausted while Williams looked relaxed in charge.
In the end, the judges awarded Williams with a unanimous decision victory (116-111, 115-112, 115-112). Williams is now the IBF and WBA Super Welterweight World Champion and his record improves to 27-1-1 (16 KOs).

My first time seeing Jarrett Hurd fight. He did not seem really into it. He pushed a lot of his punches and was wild or wildly exhausted at time. J-Rock was a champion this night.
He's really a guy that figures his opponents out in the first three rounds, so him getting dropped really took alot out of him. Don't try to judge any boxer on just one fight because styles and gameplans count.
That's how he always fights. I seen a couple of his fights and he always throws them soft jabs and always seem tired

Williams will land a 4 hit combo with some impact and they’ll give Hurd credit for a little body shot. 19:50 watch the faint and pivot with the left hook. Where’s the love? Lennox is a clown too. @@JMDinamitaMarquez The worst commentator by far is Frank Mancini. And Korobov only won 4 rounds maximum and was almost put down in the 12th. That fight was not close which is why no professional analysts or judges thought it was, just casuals who hate the Charlos for no actual reason.

That 2nd round knockdown Williams did was masterful.. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and excuted it beautifully.. You can see him lower his right justvwaiting for the champ to kower his left and right when he did, he gave a little bump for separation, landed his right and one more right to same spot to knock him down.. this fight changed hurd career big time this is why some fighters avoid tough matchups sometimes a L just isnt just a L you can suffer physically and mentally and never be the same
In a way this was always going to happen to Hurd. He exposes himself to so much punishment in the ring that it allowed a more skilled infighter to take him apart. It inevitably happens to big guys with defensive limitations who only know how to come forward and outlast their opponents. They look really great for 4/5 fights and then their chin goes and thats it.

Julian Williams fought like Roberto Duran in the first half and maintained his lead throughout, but Hurd is such a relentless physical presence it is hard to maintain that in the later rounds. This was a great fight and a beautiful infighting performance from Williams.
Hurd is the taller guy with the reach advantage and chooses to fight in a phone booth giving away the advantages he has , don't know how he managed to win belts, must have fought tomato cans for a living.

My first time watching Will fight and dude is cold man. He boxed his ass off let off great fast combos. Sharp chopping right hands and had a snappy jab. Hurd couldn't do anything sloppy slow and squared up. Just fought the wrong fight. The right man won this one.
