Julian Williams took on Nathanial Gallimore April 7, 2018, on PBC on Showtime, in a IBF Junior Middleweight world title eliminator.
Julian Williams (25-1-1, 15 KOs) continued his march towards another title shot, earning a majority decision over a game but outclassed Nathaniel Gallimore (20-2-1, 17 KOs) over 12 rounds. Williams edged enough of the rounds to earn the decision, nearly stopping Gallimore in the championship salvos. Scores were 117-110, 116-112, and 114-114.

In the press conference leading up to the fight JRock literally said that his plan is to take him into deep water. Death by drowning. The holding to tire him worked perfectly. JRock is just more cerebral in that he understands the importance of sticking to a plan. When Gallimore learns to listen to his corner he will have more wins. If he had pulled his arms from those clinches....

I didn't care much for Gallimore and Williams definitely won this fight, but Gallimore put more on Williams then Hurd did in their fight after this one. Look at Williams face after the fight, he was pretty marked up and he was tired at times from working hard. When he fought Hurd, he dominated the first 5 or 6 rounds, and even in the last round he was smiling and looked good. Here, Williams took his share of hard shots. I think he won this 116-112 but that doesn't always tell the story. The scores were similar when he fought Hurd but he took more punishment in this fight I thought. Then Williams was upset and stopped in his first defense. Was he beaten up too much in this fight combined with the Hurd fight and therefore not 100% himself, or was the kid that beat him just that good? I guess we'll see if the new champ can defend a few times successfully or not. That's boxing, there are many variables which can make it a bit mystifying at times.
Williams should've finished him off in the 12th. Smh. He better than that.

Tony Weeks is an awful referee. He should have taken a point from Williams in the early rounds for that excessive holding. He warned him more than 6 times, and let it continue throughout the fight. This was boring to watch, with all that wrestling in close. Gallimore's corner should have been instructing him to stay on the outside, and let his punches go, much earlier in the fight. There was no reason to fight inside, when he's the taller guy. SMH, cause what an unnecessary loss.

I've always thought that galimore was overrated and this fight confirms that for me. He has no power and he's very sloppy with his punching mechanic's. Where j rock has great balance and pop on very accurate punch placement especially inside with the hooks and uppercuts. great fight tho both guys gave it all they had and williams was the more hungry fighter.
gallimore can punch..he just lacks the iq of the top 10 level guys...probably bc he started late..he hurt j rock early, but rock smothered him
He has 17 KOs in 25 wins as of right now. He very clearly has power, as evidenced by knocking out very good fighters in Justin De Loach and Jeison Rosario amongst others. His power is one of his best attributes, not sure where you got the idea he can't punch from

It's a different type of fight with Hurd. Hurd comes in with no defense and stands there trying to be physical.
