Takis, that you don't cry when you found all these neglected, abused and from starvation dying dogs is something I don't understand. It is heartbreaking to see all those poor dogs, many on the brink of death. You are amazing.

Dear Immie. I do understand why you are bewildered as to why Takis does not appear to break down in tears when faced with the victims of the most appalling animal abuse. It’s so hard sometimes to imagine how someone can stay calm in such circumstances. But to help the animal, calmness and focus is exactly what the victim needs at that moment. His calmness reassures who he is rescuing. His calmness helps him to remove the animal from the situation, Safely and with as little added pain as possible. As someone who worked in the field of CHILD PROTECTION for many years it was necessary to try to remain calm and focused in the same way. I know that I was often told by people that they didn’t understand how anyone could deal with such awful circumstances. I was also sometimes told that I must be quite emotionally “hard”. But that was never true. Yes we had to stay calm, think things out in a methodical way. But that was to do all we could to ‘rescue’ those children from often unspeakable cruelty. But never think for a moment that people like Takis, or those rescuing humans do not carry those awful memories in our hearts forever. To see such things will always be branded on your mind. Our tears are shed afterwards, when the crisis is dealt with. But the tears we shed afterwards are often for three reasons. 1. The memory of what we have seen. 2. The pain that has been caused to a living thing. 3. (and Perhaps mostly), for all those that have not yet been found, who are out there somewhere, and continue in their torture, as they have not yet been rescued. It’s those that keep us awake at night, wondering if or when we will finally meet them and if we are able to give them a chance of a REAL life. So I send my gratitude and respect to Takis and all those who try to rescue animals, as well as the army of people who try to help those still living their nightmare of cruelty and torture alone. I pray that one day these unspeakable crimes will cease, or at least there will be more and more people willing to help those being so awfully treated at the hands of a human being. I also thank people like you Immie, willing to watch and spread the word about what is happening to defenceless animals over and over again across the planet. After all, knowledge is power. Als ich Nala zum ersten Mal sah, da musste ich tief Luft holen. Der Anblick war so schrecklich, es war Rettung in buchstäblich letzter Sekunde. Nun ist sie eine so schöne Hundedame. Zwar krank, aber wunderschön. Und sie liebt Takis von ganzem Herzen. Man kann nur Danke sagen an Takis, tausendmal Danke! Nala steht für so viele Rettungen in letzter Sekunde.

I didn't remember how badly emaciated Nala was when Takis first rescued her. She must have been so close to dying. 😡 Thank God for Takis. His love and care has made her a beautiful, happy, healthy dog. 💕
The pure fact they HUNT animals, tells you they shouldn’t own any! A beautiful tribute, to the strong , alive and kicking NALA! Makes me tearful looking back on it 🥹 I don’t feel Takis will want Nala adopted, from her being rescued till now, he’s been close to her and she has him ❤
Hunting isn't evil, mistreating animals is. Life eats life. That is how nature works.

I guarantee these hunters are eating everything they catch. And for them, these dogs are not pets, they are employees. And if they don't hunt, or get too old or sick to hunt, they get fired. I wish they would have a well-run shelter for hunting dogs, but most of the government-run shelters are hellholes, and the private shelters get overrun and struggle. Takis is probably the best financed shelter in Greece, and even he is pushed to the limits.

@@sofri4451 agree. Takis’ job is done. Now it is up to a nice family with knowledge about diabetes in dogs or who is willing to learn it from Takis. It is not really rocket science but more about a strict routine. And regular vet checks. A family of her own with a garden and nice walks and adventures!

Nala looks amazing these days. She seems to be at her right weight, her eyes are bright, she smiles, she goes outside her room, she plays a bit with other dogs. Nala is a happy and healthy new dog thanks to Takis' patience and loving care.

I fell for this cute girl almost from day one. Nala is a rascal and sweetheart in one. Love her jealous growling and the way she is bossing other dogs about (in a friendly manner though). It's not difficult to love her!

Its a miracle beautiful Nala survived, especially with Diabetes. She is such a happy Hound now🎉 Bravo Takis😍 These hunting Dog's are so badly treated abd they are such loyal, sensitive Dog's. They are starved to make their hunting instincts stronger which is crazy, as they vecome so weak then the owner's dont want them so abandon them and leave rhem to die. Yes.. lovely Mickey who also was skin and bone when he was rescued..he wouldn't get off the couch ..he hadn't known anything so soft to lay on..until he found Takis' bed..haha and then that was where he slept..I miss sweet Mickey..

I can only express my thanks again to Takis and his helpers for their tireless work! 🙏🙏🙏 My deepest contempt for the "people" who treat animals so cruelly and heartlessly! I hope karma hits back hard and mercilessly!
Nala is such a beautiful happy girl, you can forget how bad she was when she first arrived. She is a super girl and really helps Takis when he has to take blood for her sugar, she is so bright and understands why it's needed. She needs a loving home of her own she will make someone a wonderful companion, god bless dear girl, happy days now
