  • It's wild that in the USA a police officer can be fired for misconduct(or whatever bs they want to say instead of arresting them) and they can go to the next county and get a job as a police officer again. Thats wild. That happens nowhere else in the world. This isn't the 50s where there's no computerised records and they can say they didn't know what they did in their last job, they can see their record they just don't care that they attacked people in custody or sexually assaulted women or whatever it was. You can't have a decent police force with that mentality

    • I love how you use terms like “or whatever it was” throughout this jumbled attempt at an argument. Although you’re not entirely wrong, these instances you’ve listed are quite accusatory and serious wouldn’t you say? Violent and sexual assault on detainees is typically something they do in fact press charges on because as you’ve said: this is not the 50’s. No doubt there are still shady departments that try to cover for their own - that will never change - but you overlook the fact that police are beginning to be an extremely valued and limited resource in the public service sector. Are you aware that what you’ve listed can and has happened similarly with doctors and surgeons? Or people who abuse their adopted children (the podcast Broken Harts is a fascinating look into this particular issue)? I mean just look at our government. Many of those who held the reins of the failed policies on Iraq and Afghanistan are now overseeing our continued failed efforts in the Ukraine. My point is you shouldn’t generalize the entire police force just as you shouldn’t generalize an entire race or religion. Criminality is running amok in this country and police are the ones who try to stop it.

  • The bad thing about police in current years, everyone is trying to be Judge Dredd, sticking with law and order but there's always a burden and it would be the mental health of the police, which depending on the situation is more to follow the law than to think about the rights of the people they are arresting. The strange thing is, nowadays, the police take mental health classes, others for behavior in other countries. Why isn't there something like that in America? This is what intrigues me about the documentary.

    @ryogahibiki3838@ryogahibiki383813 күн бұрын
    • Yeah, they should compare American law enforcement to other western countries, and what can America learn from them. In most if not all European countries you have study for 1-3 to become police officer, there are countries where police doesn't carry lethal weapons on themselves, and some countries don't even have police killing/shooting anyone for multiple years in a row, for e.g in my country Lithuania last time police officer was killed was in 2020 by a WW1 weapon and in 2017 by a drunk person with a knife. Using lethal gun is reserved in most extreme cases, officer here would always try to defuse, negotiate with a aggressive person with a knife for example or even rather risk being killed than choose to shoot that person, no different from other dangerous job like firefighters, human life is very much respected here.

They will go to the police because not all ppl can become criminals, having said that some police personnel are racist and prejudiced but that does not mean that the entire force is tainted .

  • We have some great police officers in America. Then we get the bad ones. I think too many ex-military are in the police force and they expect us to act like they are a General giving us orders. No one is above the law, even cops. I am a retired white women age 67 who has seen police officers abuse their power personally. I watched a man being beaten by a cop in the 1980s. White on white too. All the man did was get too drunk and be thrown out of a bar. What the cops did to him in the parking lot had me crying. Unfortunately for the cops, I worked at the State Attorneys Office and made a report about it to my superiors the next day at work. I am sure the man wondered why all his charges were dropped. They did it to hush it all up.

    • So you want people to go fight on your behalf for freedom but then you want to take their freedom to choose what job they want. The majority of cops are good people who want to make a difference in their respective communities. There are a few bad cops I'll agree but it's not a problem like the media makes it out to be. The majority of police shootings we see in the media are justified shootings. But the media likes to use justified shootings to push their racial agenda. And people see the media pushing the narrative and they start focusing on the racial aspect of the shooting instead of the crime that led to the shooting.

      @gamemaker416@gamemaker41613 күн бұрын
    • @@gamemaker416 I appreciate you acknowledging that the police aren't perfect. I'd add that they are far from perfect. In regards to needing them in communities, I think it's healthy to question social norms and societal institutions in order to ensure that they are actually beneficial to society and how they could be improved. Also if the trailer seems anti police, then I'm sure you can agree that there is a lot of media that is pro-police - books/tv shows/films etc that portray the police in a positive light - they may showcase some bad officers but they in general are formed around the basis of praising the institution itself. So it is definitely a good thing to bring more balance to the frequent usage of 'copaganda' that is within media by highlighting more of the reality of the influence and control that the police have and how their power impacts people. While there is plenty of discussion around the impact of the police, not everyone has access/time/knowledge of them to look into those resources, so it's great to have a source of media on a mainstream platform that can highlight more perspectives and information on the subject of the police.

  • As a devoted Netflix viewer, I can't help but feel frustrated by the sudden end of some of the amazing Netflix Originals that came out the same year they ended. These shows had such potential and captivated audiences worldwide, only to be cancelled without a proper resolution. Not only is this disheartening for fans like myself, but it also does a disservice to the talented creators, writers, and actors who poured their hearts into these projects. One such show is Glitch Tech, which aired in 2020 but was abruptly cancelled after only two seasons. The show had a unique concept and a loyal fan base, yet it was left hanging with so many unresolved plotlines. The same goes for The Midnight Gospel, Centaurworld, The Cuphead Show, Dead End: Paranormal Park, and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off - all of which were cancelled after just one season except for the Cuphead show that was seemingly cancelled after 3 seasons, leaving fans disappointed and wanting more. It's frustrating to invest time and emotion into a show, only to have it end on a cliffhanger or without a proper conclusion. These shows deserve another chance to shine and continue their stories in a way that does justice to the creative vision of their creators.

    • You must be a levelheaded individual, who knows how to act when pulled over by the police.

    • @@_Sarby1 How about don’t act like a idiot, and you won’t have any issues. Notice it’s only your people who have problems with law enforcement no other POC have issues. So who is the problem? Y’all literally destroy your own communities and y’all are each other’s worst enemy. Yall are the only people in America who have more young people go to jail then college. 72% of your kids are without a father. But sure let’s blame everyone else.
