BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN DORSET: Dramatic coastlines, fairytale castles & chocolate box villages// Hello lovely people! Today we share the second video from our amazing visit to Dorset! We had a lot of places on our list as there's so much to see but feel as if we only scratched the surface. So there's always reason to return to this beautiful county.
Durdle Door has been on our list for years and it was even more beautiful than expected. Though we couldn't film as much as we wanted as we had very strong winds, we so enjoyed our visit there. Very nearby is the stunning seaside town Weymouth, so worth checking out. When we prepared for our trip to Dorset, we stumbled up The Crab House Café and its amazing seafood. It's so good with lovely staff and fresh food - thumbs up! If you get the chance to see the Smugglers Inn in person in Osmington, do so because it's the most picturesque place. You can even stay there! Last but not least Corfe Castle, a fortification standing above this dreamy village. Oh what an amazing weekend. Kirsten & Jörg xx

  • I must say Kirsten, you look absolutely gorgeous in your slacks and tweed jacket and cap 😊 beautiful place! Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖 PS me and my ex-husband used to do this all the time when we visited Europe just rented a car and stopped in village after village and Castle after Castle it's absolutely beautiful, you're so lucky that you lived there.

    • We recently visited England and France but rented a car for only a couple of days of our trip. We realized that we really enjoyed the small and quaint villages and are planning another trip to Europe for next year, this time renting a car for the whole trip for the flexibility of stopping in said places. I would love to go to Scotland, Northern Ireland, Switzerland, etc. Any recommendations based on your personal experience?

    • @@mereiriz We started in London rented a car went down into Wales went all through Wales went to Ireland all the way up to the Northern Ireland caught a fairy in went to Scotland with our car we went over 2,000 miles the last time I was there with my ex-husband we went from London all the way up to the tip of the Isle of sky all the way back down to London we visited Sterling Castle Wallace monument Rob Roy's grave just everything we just stopped at everything. You really can't go wrong renting a car, and just stopping when you want and we stayed at b&B's only. No matter what you do you will love it!

  • Thank you for this trip down memory lane. Stayed in Corfe Castle village in 1989 with my parents and 2yr old son. We had glorious weather and got to stay an extra week at our accommodation. We didn't want to go home. Next time visit Kingston village and the Scott arms, great views. Also Kimmeridge Bay, Swanage,Studland Bay,Wareham, Brownsea Island and Poole. We always used to break our journey at Lacock. Your filming was stunning.

  • Beautiful video. When I was young and growing up in Surrey my family would camp on a dairy farm each summer at "Dancing Ledge" in Langton Matravers, Dorset (near Swanage). Once we passed Corfe Castle in our little car I knew that we were almost there! This video brought back such happy memories. 💗🤩 PS: The old farm house and barns (owned by the Guy family back then) are now National Trust, I believe, as is the Ledge.

The views, are so beautiful and I could imagine sitting there and thinking about the history of the Castle and the surrounding area. I also love the way they served you crab dish, in a Martini(?) glass looks so pretty instead of on a plate or bowl. Looking forward to your next adventure.

  • All the tiny little houses are so adorable. I believe what makes the aesthetic is the modern, white window and door frames; complementing the stone buildings and magnificent views, of course. It's a mixture of old and new, which I think everyone can appreciate. Thank you for a lovely video.

You two will just have to hold on to each other! What a wonderful weekend. I enjoyed seeing the Crab House Cafe. The wine looked like a good compliment to the crab coctail. We fish for mackerel and blue fish off our coast. It is really delicious smoked! And those lovely daffodils! My bulbs have not come up as yet. • Ein wirklich schönes Wochenende. Das Wetter war schön, die Landschaft auch. Das Meer war herrlich. Da wäre ich auch gerne gewesen. Toll!

  • Thank you Kirsten and Joerg. Dorset is such a beautiful county with lots of lovely places to visit. In addition to Where you have visited already, I also love Swanage, Lyme Regis and all the little villages. The view of Chesil beach when you dive on the coast road really is spectacular. I live relatively close as I live in the neighbouring county, Hampshire. X

  • As a resident of Dorset, it is pleasant to see places that I have visited many times. Just North of Corfe Castle is Wareham, where you have the Wareham Saxon Walls, which is a man made ridge that you can walk along. Wareham is the site where Alfred the Great King of Wessex besieged Guthrum and his Danes in 876. Maiden Castle is worth a visit, it is an iron age fort, south of Dorchester.

  • Thank you for taking me along on your beautiful weekend get away. I think the views from the hill of the castle were spectacular. Good choice to hike up the hill. The sea food isn’t my favorite but glad you both enjoyed it. We are behind you with the daffodils! Ours are just starting to pop up here in Iowa. Same with my tulips. But oh it’ll be worth the wait. Bye for now! Mary
