I made a stunning meatloaf with venison, the best one I’ve ever had/made in my life. It was so good in fact I haven’t made one since (7yrs ago).

    • thoughts on minute 8:42, "you have to be delivering what there's a market for" reminds me of how the Apostle Paul pointed out that doing this, i.e. catering to the audience, results in a watering down of Truth- "3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths." 2 Timothy 4: 3.4 (NASB)

More expansively, if you don’t attack him and conduct yourself in a civil manner, he will stay on that plane of interaction. If you attack him, especially in an uncivil manner, Murray now mobilizes his sharp intellect to dismantle the attacker in the most “judiciously pitiless” way possible. And although I am somewhat ashamed to say it, I love it when that happens.

    • It always amazes me how often people make this horrendous comparison. Hitchens would have despised Murray's contempt for the Palestinians, his support for Trumpists in the US, and his rampant nationalism. People honestly think just having a British accent somehow made these two kindred spirits....

  • I wouldn't say that Douglas enjoys combat as much as he is angry that he has to be that confrontational. I get the impression that he is punishing others with the very treatment that makes him so mad. I feel like the entire time he is doing it... he is thinking about why he shouldn't have to do it. I think he is a very good person who has a very pessimistic, but probably accurate view on people. He knows what will happen if you give quarter... and he won't do it out of kindness. These aren't people arguing in good faith... they are looking for any opportunity to exploit your own morality.

    • He strikes me as someone who has earnestly tried to give his opponents the benefit of the doubt as often as possible, but given the West is still plummeting downwards he's finally realising there isn't time any more for bumbling along and people fudging solutions to big problems - now we actually need to fix things and take action and so the filter is off, and his opinions are more pointed.
