FIRST DRIVE: The Land Cruiser is back in the USA and Toyota has made some big changes. On the outside you will discover all new sheet metal, LED lighting and 2-tone paint. On the inside you will be greeted by a soft-tex interior, 14in infotainment screen, and 12.3in digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 2.4L turbocharged inline-4 hybrid that produces 326HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser a BETTER midsize SUV than a Toyota 4Runner?

Great review! Quick question, are the rear seats heated? Also, not sure if the GX550 warrants the additional $$ and wait time. Up here in Canada the GX550 Overtrail+ is $106k Cdn with a very long wait time. I had my name added to the list in mid-February and I'm being given an October 2028 production. By comparison the LC is going to be around $15-20k less and wait times are more in the 2-3 year range.

I love it! Even more than the new 4Runner, SEQUIA and Lexus GX. I’d go 1958 for price. That sunroof is all it needed.

Toyota is building beautiful vehicles. My current 2014 Camry Hybrid is still going strong @ 106K miles only, but in one to two years, I'll consider the new Tacoma or 4Runner for my next auto. Camry will be my backup vehicle. Keep up the great products, Toyota 👌🏾👍🏾

You don't need a panoramic sunroof, but I do like the standard moonroof and how quiet it rides going by.
Beautiful looking SUV, LETS see if it is as reliable as the former models.

Joe, I like the way they raised both sides of the hood. When I think about there being no washer on the front camera, I think that it is a mistake because you're going to have a front camera that is going to be dirty all the time.

Does the LC require premium gasoline? I like it ..but i I am not ok with the this engine( for now).

Nope to many what ifs with a hybrid system off road. What happen if the engine gets wet from a water crossing and what about the battery and its wiring underneath. My 4runner has been headlight deep before no problems after .

Base version has the only headlights that are worthy of the name. They really F'ed up the look of the higher models with those rectangular lights.

Pretty sure that the front camera shuts off above a certain speed because the system can't process and render the video at speed in real time. But they will sell it as a safety feature. Most of my 4-wheeling is at single-digit speeds so no big deal.
I think it is a safety thing from Toyota. Other brands like GM have no issues.
I think the 4Runner, with it's more aerodynamic design, can get an extra MPG with the Hybrid Max, taking it to 24 MPG combined

It’s refreshing that Toyota is giving us real suvs. I was getting so sick of all these other brands crossovers.
When you were driving the Toyota Land cruiser, were you able to verify if the front camera can be enabled or turned on while you are going up? Say freeway speeds, or 35 mph? I asked because a lot of automotive bloggers show the camera images while the car is parked at 0 miles an hour. No one ever demonstrates the front camera working while the car is being driven.

The Land Cruizer looks pretty pretty nice. SUV & I like the fake vents, it goves it style as to a boring corner to the bimpers.
It would of been nice if they were a little functional

It’s way better looking than the new 4Runner It’s also a plus not to have TRD Pro tags every inch of the outside
I like it. They did good.
I love the big tail lights. But I'm giving a zonk to the headlights. To me, they are too tiny for such a bold vehicle. JMO.
The good news is the 1958 edition has larger headlights
Right now the Market is Flooded with Good Midsize SUV. Lexus, Toyota, Bronco,Hyundai ,Cadillac, Chevy Kia ....etc It's very Difficult to choose One but think i would pick this Land Rover or the Lexus because of the Reliability History and the Retro/New Looks is 🔥 🔥
It will be interesting to see how it sells.
The rear bumper hump looks like it houses a parachute for when your off road adventures take you a bit too farrrrrrrr....

Great new iteration of the venerable Land Cruiser. I don't think it needs a panoramic sunroof... this is a Land Cruiser! That makes me think "go anywhere". There are plenty of other luxury SUVs if you just want to ride the highways in comfort.
You can go anywhere & everywhere and still have a panoramic sunroof.
You have to upgrade to the Lexus GX to get the pano roof.

The new Landscruiser has a lot of very cool features and gadgets. Which is best: 2024 Landscruiser, 2025 4Runner, or 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrain? I think I would go with the Lexus.

Panoramic roofs are overrated! I love the regular size sunroof. Can't beat the fact that it's insulated!
