The make it extreme team made up a tool that would be cheap, useful and fast in order to be able to carve the material and create angles that are necessary to place this material.

  • Good one and that was really extreme for this purpose. We can also do it with circular saw and a Grove blade.

    @AbdulazizDadarkar@AbdulazizDadarkar2 жыл бұрын
    • The circular saw is also adjustable for depth of cut too, to cater for different thickness ACP. In the demonstration - it seemed to me the tool was taking too deep a cut. However, like you indicate Abdulaziz, at building the tool he is an absolutely craftsman.

      @BenMitro@BenMitro2 жыл бұрын
    • @@BenMitro I really wonder if you could use this concept and use only one blade and make it some what adjustable. Grinders are high speed so it should work right? With it being one blade and using some sort of adjustment screw and a set screw to lock it you can adjust it to what you need. The other idea would be some sort of off set hole and when you twist it expands in or out. Its still a really nice tools when you use the same sheet size over and over and seems much better than using a saw. Provided the space between the cutter and end is exactly a good measurement say 100mm or 1 inch or something like that.

    • @@BenMitro " it seemed to me the tool was taking too deep a cut. " I thought he did that on purpose so it can be aluminum brazed ( some call it welding but I think it's more like brazing ) to reinforce the corner! But he did not show doing this so I could be wrong.

  • Another great video! I'm not trying to troll, but........ why couldnt you just use a router to cut the "v" groove?

    @trickydickydoudlebug@trickydickydoudlebug2 жыл бұрын
    • A router with its changable inserts, variable speed and depth of cut would indeed be the right tool not only to cut groves into Dibond, but also lots of other materials. While being a nicely crafted device, I don't see any advantage in doing quite a complicated building job on the lathe for this device, other than to make an interesting YT-video and provoke a lively debate in the comment section ;-)

    • Portability and versatility. If this can work on steel it could be handy doing repair welds in tight spaces by cutting a nice clean v where you need to weld a repair. I am thinking of two cracked frames I had to weld in very inconvenient spots... one was a pneumatic ramp and the other was a truck bed. This may have been nice if it would have fit, not sure.
