    • I can tell the difference between how you talk about the Metroid Fusion and how you talk about Prime or the Super Metroid, and I can tell you have a lot of prejudice against it. I know you have your own opinion which I respect having freedom of opinion but you sitting here acting like this is fact is totally wrong. more importantly, hearing you talk about saying that Metroid Fusion doesn't have the same atmosphere, if not worse, than Super Metroid is biased for you to say. and totally really misleading and me sitting here having to listen to you trash this game is absolute cringe because I'm a Metroid Fusion fan because it wus ny frist Metroid game I ever played so of course I would have a closer attachment to it. and I can tell you right now that it has a better atmosphere if not extremely better than the Super Metroid atmosphere. and the way that you talk about Metroid Fusion is so downplays and totally devaluing the game as a whole is just disgusting. you do use strategic logic and facts within it you also infused your own prejudice and your own opinion with it if you're going to make a tire review over facts you need to keep your opinion to yourself. regardless to me Metroid Fusion deserves more love and attention than you ever given it and I think most people who are looking about more 2D Metroid reviews should just completely ignore your review despite that you speak logic and facts you have done everything you could to downplay the 2D Metroid games as a whole. besides Super Metroid because most people like it so so much because of the first the the debug menu which is one of the best and the factors in it and the overall story and the emotional atmosphere is triumph mixed with a little bit horror. More importantly, it was a lot of people's first Metroid game besides the other two . Metroid Fusion is very well-known for having a much better atmosphere. The Super Metroid is known as horror and intention and Fusion. also, having been one of the first metroid ever has dialogue and the way that you just talked about the SA-X how you downplay the qualities that makes this character so unique and so dangerous and get so intimidating it just triggering factoring that the SA-X is one of the most terrifying enemy Samus has and ever wi'll ever faced in the tire in the 2D series. but sitting here hearing you downplay constantly mocking metroid fusions atmosphere is just absolutely disgusting, and I think you have some issues you need to work out 2nd Metroid Prime series is Non Cannon to the 2D Metroid series.

Hopefully Nintendo makes a remaster of Prime 2, Prime 3, and maybe even Prime Hunters. 100-percented Prime, ran into difficulties against the Alpha Blogg in Prime 2, played the demo version of Prime Hunters, and have not played Prime 3.

  • Great video. only slight correction from the Metroid Fusion stuff. The suit isn't fused to her body. That was a temporary issue; it was surgically removed from her body and the new suit was reconstructed into the Fusion Suit. But at the end of Fusion, the X basically recreates her original suit, so she's still able to take it off.

    @MindForgedManacle@MindForgedManacle Жыл бұрын
    • Actually it was confirmed that the suit became organic, meaning it was likely the suit DID fuse with her. The developers of Dread, upon being asked why her suit was a different color, answered by saying her suit was made organic in Fusion(also why she isn't as tanky in that game) while it's becoming inorganic in Dread again and that's what caused the yellow in the suit to become white.

      @hellzonefirebrigade3056@hellzonefirebrigade3056 Жыл бұрын
    • @@hellzonefirebrigade3056 It wasn’t made organic, her suit always was organic. The organic layer of her suit as seen on the Fusion and Dread suit was always there just underneath the metal and polymer layers. Her suit was always organic that’s why the X could copy it in the first place and why it could be mutated by Phazon. The fusion part was incorrectly translated, her suit was always fused with her when in use, the regular power suit or rather it’s organic layer is fused to Samus nervous system, that’s why it isn’t a conventional suit and can only be taken off by dematerializing it. The suit and Samus are basically one being. The US Version of Fusion has this incorrectly translated alluding that her suit became fused with her unlike the Japanese and European versions stated it always was fused to her. Strangely enough, the Amercian Fusion Manual has this stated correctly “My heart rate and blood pressure dropped rapidly as I fell into a deep coma. The Onboard Medic Simulation predicted only a 0.873 % prognosis for survival. I was transported ot Galactic FederationHQ for emergency medical treatment. The fact that the P o w e r Suit contained biological components and was also integrally connected to my body seemed to worsen the matter. The Federation sur- geons were unable to remove the suit while I was unconscious.Their only choice was ot c u tand remove parts of the infected suit from my still-unconscious form; immediately after, they sent the suit parts ot the Biologic Space Labs researchstation for study” From the manual. Later games confirmes this, all chozo power suits come with and organic lauer connected to their users bodies and nervous systems

Nintendo already hit the original team with a lot of legal threats, but the finished product was already in players' hands and they proceeded to make a million mirrors of it to spite Nintendo. As far as Nintendo's concerned, they've already done due diligence smashing the project and the fact that its still available is simply something they can't control.

I was entertained the entired time, and was happy that you didn't straight up hate any of the games or called them the worst thing to exist and rather have them as a fun thing to check out if you want to. Metroid is my favorite video game franchise, Metroid Prime 2 is personally my favorite game of all time. I hold this franchise in high regard because I have no nostalgic connection to it at all. I only got into the series 5 years ago and it has rised above every other franchise to be my favorite. And I love that there are other people who share the same passion for the series as I do so I adore videos like this. Thanks a lot for your work man!

  • 1:20:40 You misunderstand the canon of Metroid. The 2D series and the Prime games take place in the same universe. The timeline is: Metroid, the entire Prime Trilogy, Metroid 2, and then Super, Other M, Fusion, and finally Dread. Ridley was revived as a cyborg in Prime 1 following his defeat in the first game, his body, however, is capable of full regeneration, so over time his entire organic body regrew, so by the of Metroid 2 he's lost a lot of his cybernetics, and shed the last of them in the brief time between Metroid 2 and Super Metroid. ALSO, you NEED to read the official Metroid Manga, everything up to the final chapter, which abridges the events of Metroid 1, are 100% canon and have been referenced repeatedly throughout the series. Do note that the manga was released as a companion piece to Zero Mission, being published around that game's release, it builds off of and retells Samus's backstory as it was loosely established in manuals and Nintendo Power comics that came out around Metroid 1 and Super Metroid's releases. Just to make the canonicity of the manga clear, the chozo seen in the flashback in Zero Mission is a character _from_ the manga, and the drawing Samus leaves on the mural depicts her, that same chozo, and one other chozo from the manga. The naming scheme for the chozo also originates in the manga, the two new chozo introduced in Dread follow the same structure with their names. Raven Beak's second phase is also a _direct_ reference to information about the Chozo touched on in the manga, it encapsulates his desire for the Chozo to return to what he considers their peak of greatness.

    • To add to this, the manual for the original NES version encourages you to draw a map so you don't get lost. Metroid II didn't really need a map because you were basically always headed down. And why does nobody ever mention Crystal Flash in Super Metroid? The game shows this technique and others if you don't do anything at the title screen for a little bit.

To someone who has little to no familiarity with the Metroid franchise, this video was both informative and entertaining. As of the time of writing this comment, this video is close to 100k views. Which I think are more than well deserved and I hope they help motivate you to keep making more videos of this style. Part of what made this video so enjoyable to watch is feeling how much fun you had making it in every second. Edit: It also felt very on brand that every section would end with the term "legally acquired", seeing how this is about a Nintendo franchise.

As for my weapon and visor setup, I use Q for visors, E for weapons and toggle the “enable [beam/visor] menu” in the options. I then hold me of those keys and use the mouse as a Wii remote to hover the cursor over the one I want, then let go of the key. Thanks, I'll give that another go the next time I play through them in like 6 months XD. How was your performance with it, especially with MP2? Not too much stuttering? Yeah, I had plans to try to actually redraw textures in the pack, but never got past the text and a few key textures because of that negative feedback (especially because I'm NOT an artist, lol). I may have to try revisiting it again sometime in the future. Oh, and a great video overall. Totally agreed with basically every point you made (except a bit about Other M), especially about AM2R being the definitive Metroid II experience. I'm going to be speedrunning Metroid 2D perspective games soon, starting with Zero Mission, then to AM2R and Fusion. I hope we might be able to get AM2R a ubiquitous existence so Nintendo can't squash it any more than it already has. Also, I was reminded of the mod that exists for Other M that apparently improves the story enough to be not as offensive and enables missiles in 3rd person mode. I haven't actually played it because I had some errant settings in Dolphin I didn't realize until last night. If you like, I'll update you on how it is later.

    • @@Malkierian thank you very much! I certainly have enough issues with Other M that I’d be at the very least, curious to see what’s improved - but there’s a few threads on here where I go to the mattresses about it (which my wife ordered me to ignore, seeing that it was frustrating me 😂) - so we can just agree to disagree without going into a full blown debate. Keep me posted on that mod though, it’d be cool to play around with. I’m CyborgMarc on Twitter if you want to DM me. As for performance, my editing rig is not a good universal benchmark tool, as it’s a Ryzen 9 3950x with an RTX 3090 and 64gb of RAM - but I was getting 144fps pretty much the entire time I was playing all three games at 4K. No stuttering beyond a bit of shader compiling, but even then, it was rarely noticeable once I had been playing for a long time and built up that cache. Finally, I would encourage you to not let negative feedback stop you from doing your work- at most, let it offer you perspective, which you can then choose to use for improvement. Your work is incredible, I appreciated it greatly and I think it’d be a shame if you stopped for any reason other than you wanting to pursue other endeavours 🍻

I find it hard to believe, after everything she'd been through up to that point, that she'd just suddenly develop PTSD over it and freeze at the idea of Ridley. Anger management issues, that I could believe. Otherwise, I could see your points and appreciate the added perspective concerning the reluctant teamwork aspect of it. I guess, considering everything we knew about Adam up to that point, his characterization in Other M was more out of place than Samus's.

  • 10/10. If I ever had to show folks a great retrospective of the Metroid franchise, this would easily be it. I've seen other folks that have done some things well and other things not so well or they just trash talked Other M too much. This was very informational and you delved just far enough into each game to really whet someone's appetite if they haven't played them. Metroid is my favorite series of all time, especially the 2D entries. I said I wouldn't buy a Switch until Prime 4 came out, but then lo and behold, they announced Dread. I immediately preordered the OLED Switch and the game. My roommates went away the weekend it came out, and barring sleep, that's pretty much all I did for about 2 days straight. Super Metroid is my favorite game of all time, and I still think it's overall better than Dread, but man does Dread get a LOT right. I really hope it's not the end of Samus' adventures. I get that this is supposed to be the end of the Metroids and the X, and I guess the Chozo, but she's always been my favorite game character, so I really want them to do a new series with her as the protag. Again, very well done and know that your hard work paid off. I'm glad you got to play the games you didn't previously and enjoyed them. And thank you for being relatively objective when it came to Other M. I didn't actually hate the game and was just excited to have a new Metroid game. • I say this who is someone who enjoys Metroid as much as you do, but this was one of the greatest pieces of content I have ever watched. Thank you for taking the time to play all of the games and talk about them individually and shedding light on each of them. I appreciated this more than you know

  • This was HIGHLY enjoyable! I’ve always failed to grasp the story of Metroid. This helped a lot! Thank you for taking the time to clearly explain and make something special! Would love to see more videos like this! Also, so sorry to hear about Harley!

  • I can't remember the last time I saw someone on KZhead be so patient about being told things they've since already learned several times, even when they're being less than hospitable about telling you. I very much like your attitude toward your audience and I wish you much success. By the way: You can beat Ridley in the Super Metroid intro if you shoot him enough, and also the etecoons and dachoras teach you the shinespark and wall jumps. I don't know if anyone has told you that half a dozen times yet.

    • Haha, thanks man - you can’t expect people to “do the reading” in a KZhead comment section to make sure no one has made their point yet, that’d be unreasonable on the part of the content creator if you ask me. The only one which gets me is people telling me about Metroid Prime remastered, but only because that’s my PINNED comment 😂

  • Great video essay! Metroid is my favorite game series, possibly my favorite franchise period, and the most important to me as a gamer. Super Metroid was the first game I ever owned and the second I'd ever played, and Metroid Prime blew me away so hard at release that even 20 years later I've yet to capture the same high I got playing it. I'm very excited for Prime 4 and I hope we get news for it soon, but at the very least Metroid Dread is a truly fantastic game and the best conclusion to the Metroid saga (though not necessarily the franchise) I could have asked for.
