Spoilers for Shang Chi's Post Credits Scene are ahead!
The Shang Chi post-credits tease raised the mystery of the ten rings' origins. But it also had the shocking reveal that Professor Hulk is no more! Now he's back to being puny Banner. We speculate how this happened, and how it ties into Hulk's snap and the appearance of his evil future self, Maestro.

It takes entire CGI houses to animate the heavy CGI characters like Hulk. In End Game, it took more than 3 CGI studios to create Thanos, with work going on till 2 weeks prior to opening. So putting in all the time and money needed for an end-credit scene doesn't make sense when you can have an actor actually to it, then just drop a blue filter over it. It most likely took a week to render.
@@elceyprabhu1188 It doesn't work that way, Hulk heals Banner doesn't. When Banner gets mortally wounded he transforms and is healed. We see this when hulk spits out the bullet that Banner to try to kill himself (Avengers) and when he jumps and faceplants onto the rainbow bridge (Thor Ragnarok).

I honestly think that when Professor Hulk did the Snap, Bruce Banner just met regular Hulk in the Soul World and that they had come to an understanding about coexisting with each other.

We need a real hulk arc. I’m sick of him being a side character. He’s one of the most powerful super heroes in all of comics period.
Blame Universal for that. They can't do anything with Hulk as focus or main character.
due to the ownership of the hulk rights laying with universal, he can only be used and advanced thru side story, that's why ragnarok did part of planet hulk story line. until they sell the rights, he can only be a side character
@@loganbaird4869 we never even got much of Hulks abilities. Not like the ones we saw in universals hulk film with Edward Norton. We never got the hand clap shockwave in the mcu. No waves from his brute strength at all. I hope we do soon and get more hulk villains/ characters in she-hulk.
Hulk has the same problem as superman he's too damn strong that most threats are not a threat
I don't think mark Ruffalo hulk can do a standalone movie even if marvel studio has full rights , nothing do with character but Ruffalo is some one who excels better as a supporting actor due to his chemistry with co actors than being in a lead role where u need charisma n screen presence
He regurlarly interacts with magic users like Wong and Stephen, the ancient one had already showed the ability to disconnect Hulk's body from Banner's soul. 2 spells and half an hour later you get green guy and not-so-green guy under control.
The issue I have with this theory is that it retcons Hulk's growth in the cinematic universe. The Professor Hulk is literally the representation of both Banner and Hulk being at a sense of peace and accepting/understanding one another. If you're paying attention to the movies and comics this peace is a huge motivator for Hulk. With the multiverse items coming up it would make far more sense for the Maestro to be an alternate version of Hulk. In the comics World War Hulk is still Banner and Hulk in agreement, it's just that they are angry at the Illuminati for what they did. In the MCU Hulk has a far more positive relationship with the heroes and overall humanity in this universe, so you could have Professor Hulk feeling he needs to be more tactical, and aggressive to fight Maestro. But there's really a huge variety of enemies the Hulk could be facing despite Maestro. (Red Hulk, Xenmu, The Leader, Abomination, Ravager, etc.) Also, I don't think Maestro is who Banner would see when he snapped. It would either be Betty, Bruce's mother, or based on the events in the MCU Natasha. I disagree that if it was Natasha this would be boring. It wouldn't, you could see Banner trying to force Natasha, and Banner could even turn into his Hulk persona in an attempt to force his will. It doesn't work and this backlash is what causes Hulk that intense pain we see in End Game, and results in his arm being dead. This explanation would provide consistency to Hulk's comment when he said "He tried and tried to bring Natasha back but couldn't. Now referring to my explanation you could generate a Maestro that was obsessed with power b/c he realized that he couldn't bring Natasha back so he ends up going on a path of trying to do this. (Essentially, it would be very similar to the tragic path Dr. Strange took in What If), but personally I'd feel this would be lack luster as it was done in the "What If" series. Now that I think of it. Maestro within the MCU is not an interesting and compelling villain b/c He's basically the Hulk version of Thanos, or the darker smarter version of Hulk as seen in Age of Ultron. The only way I feel the story would work and be really interesting is if you had Hulk travel to Maestro's universe, instead of Maestro coming to the mainline MCU .

We don't like this character ark, we want him scary and strong, not like Shrek. I get that banner and Hulk finally got along, but that wasn't a redemption. Banner ended up in Endgame beaten, defeated and mentally broken losing Natasha. I got sick of seeing everyone beating the living soul out of him. At least he did the reverse snap, but again he has always been a side character and way weaker than in the comics. His role needs to upgrade asap

Why would Tony and Thanos see someone they love but Bruce sees an evil future version of the hulk? I think you just want to see Maestro Hulk so bad but it doesn't make any sense.

He didn't see anyone, he didn't sacrifice for the soul stone it resisted him which is why it messed his arm up, Tony has done nothing but Sacrifice so he was allowed to see Morgan as a reward from the stone since he'll be missing out on seeing her grow up

I found it interesting Banner's personality in the post-credit scene seemed a lot more "Professor Hulk"-like -- cracking jokes and looking comfortable -- rather than the usual Banner awkwardness
I think it's more he's comfortable with himself now him and hulk it shows the balance was truly found between them.

One personality trait that I thought Mark Ruffalo really showed well was confidence. As "smart" hulk or professor hulk, Banner was now very self assured, almost to the point of arrogance. A good example would be when Scott snapped at him for being to hulky with the Pym particles and the way the hulk responded. If that had been regular banner in that scene, he would have appeared very meek, timid, and apologetic. But in the hulk form, he exudes confidence because he knows he's not only one of the smartest in the room, but also the strongest.
Bring the Ragnarok hulk back but with the earlier version aspect of more mad, more powerful and possibly even more bigger. Ruffalo is a great hulk tho, would like the see him in a strange/nightmare movie.

@@DrMcMoist Yes, because in progressing Bruce’s character, they completely killed off Hulk. People sometimes forget that Hulk is a separate character. This might’ve been character progression for Bruce, but imo, it was a step in the wrong direction for his character and felt more like an excuse to have another comedic relief in the movie.
yeah they shouldve just kept bruce - bruce and hulk - hulk. What made Hulk so bad ass was the ruthlessness of not being in control of what hes capable of doing. when he turned into bitch boy, no one liked that.
@@dr_goofenshmirtz5931 I was a fan of the choice but it did essentially kill off the Hulk persona. He was a different person from Bruce and with Professor Hulk Bruce essentially took over Hulk's body so of course it can make sense that it goes wrong forcing him to go back to being a human but it isn't because he visited the soul world. I'd bet money on that.
Yes hulk by himself is a sight to see like in avengers 1 and 2. I would love to see good ole hulk smashin everything at least one last time

Eh, we didn't see any sign of that at the end of Endgame. Just like with Thanos, Hulk/Banner were merely crippled by the snap, nothing more. Although I do agree that the reasoning behind Bruce becoming just Bruce is probably a simple one; Me personally I feel like it had to do with him and Jennifer during the events of She-Hulk
It would make sense that if the stones gave off gamma radiation that maybe it gradually drained gamma from him making him unable to stay in that form permanently

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! When I saw this scene in Shang Chi most people left before the end credits (noobs) and I tried talking to my parents who I went to see the movie with about the implications. They didn't really mind and most people I knew hadn't seen Shang Chi so I was left to my own thoughts. So seriously thank you for making this and also you threw in some really interesting factors that I hadn't thought of before so in short great vid!
Maestro didn't kill all the heroes in "Future Imperfect", though. He took over after they died.

@@Tejasharma34 Yes. Since "Future Imperfect" was originally released. Also, re-read it a couple of days ago. He didn't kill the heroes in it. At least not most of them (Forge would be an exception). They died because of a nuclear holocaust. It's not about how strong he is.

It could be explained by allowing Hulk to “heal” from the Injuries he suffered using the stones. Allowing him to rest and recover while Banner does all the work could be a decision they both could have agreed to given the extent of the damage. This would also allow Marvel to bring back smart Hulk in future projects.

I believe he reverted back to have his arm heal quicker. If he isn't using so much energy sustaining his larger form his body would heal faster.
I think your right. But AT the same time. His body absorbes gamma radiation as fuel, his body also generates his own gama radiation. When he gets mad. He generates more radiation making him stronger the more mad he is, long term hulk form could drain it very much. At the same time hulk is extremely powerful and i have no clue if its logical

To be fair we never got much of an explanation for how he became Prof. Hulk. Yeah, they said he spent months in the lab merging the two or whatever, but that's it.
We got as much was needed. Guy went to the lab did some tweaking came out as professor hulk 😂
There was a great deleted scene in Avengers Infinity War that I felt shouldn't have been cut, that better explains why the dichotomy changed between hulk and Banner.

Have the red Hulk toys you've seen had anything written on the packaging other than the Marvel label? Like, you know how when stuff comes out for movies or shows sometimes even ahead of times, they will put that on the package. I'm guessing not bc you would have surely noticed. But the fact that you saw a new Red hulk toys and collectibles come out recently definitely definitely has to mean something!!

Nope , mark ruffalo deserves to shine , bcyz all those year he is just been overshadowed by playing sidekick to every characters , if their is a main storyline for hulk then it's mark ruffalo who deserves that.
@@sugc3209 okay lets take both your ideas and go with it. Alternate reality brings back one of the other Hulks who in his timeline became the Maestro. Hulk gets his own movie again where some avengers are hunting Hulk or something, confusing the other Hulk as him, and plot things happen, some Marvel magic here and there, and boom last act Hulk vs Maestro. We get something new, based on existing stories that doesn't ruin our current awesome Ruffalo Hulk, and we get to see Maestro be a big bad.

@@canadianrenegadehunter2730 nah mark ruffalo is best if given serious banner to him like he was in avengers 1 ,it's a studios fault to make him play comedic banner , I will give you example , watch I know this much is true , he has played Dominik character who has a temper who is serious as a character and Mark ruffalo nailed it completely if studios tries to do that with banner mark ruffalo will play far better , ed Norton hulk movies has only good hulk fight scenes ,he as a banner was total failure, even incredible hulk director said he wanted mark in that film instead of Norton ,but bcuz ed was bigger name at that time studios chose ed Norton over mark.

My thought when i saw the scene was that he reverted to Banner form to heal from the snap. if you notice, he's still wearing the sling on his arm. During the fight in Endgame his arm was already showing signs of recovery, something that is very possible for Hulk. Its possible that he reversion was just a result of overload from the snap and the fight afterwards. Once fully healed he may return back to the Professor Hulk form, which could still set up for Maestro later on. On a side note, I'm fairly certain he saw Natasha in the Soul World, because he seemed at peace with the fact that he couldn't bring her back. Just the way he said that he really tried...
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Hulk admits to Wanda that he tried to bring back Natasha. May during the event he might have encountered or indirectly gave an invitation to the Maestro from alternate timeline.

On a behind the scenes level, I’d say it’s probably because he’s going to be a prominent character in the She Hulk series, and they kind of want to reduce the budget. (I’m sure Tatiana Maslany is going to be in heavy make up like with Gamora, maybe with forced perspective, miniature sets and blue screen) Not to mention that relies on Bruce giving her a blood donation, something that wouldn’t be feasible with bulletproof skin.
It won't be makeup. She'll be in a motion capture suit, with dots on her face.

They could just do what the comics did initially and have Jennifer transform under stress and/or at will to save money. Speaking of, on the Hollywood reporter in June, Jameela Jamil has been announced play Titania. Pretty sure they’ll they’ll have to rework her origin though, unless Battleworld occurred offscreen.
Could also be a way of fixing his arm. Now that he's back to being Banner, at some point he'll have to release the primal hulk again and that could actually heal it...

It could be a lot simpler: He could've turned back so he could give the transfusion, as I don't think getting blood from Hulk would go well...
Personally, I think Bruce did see Natasha after the snap. He specifically told Clint he tried to bring her back. But Natasha could have been the one who showed him what would happen in the future and why he couldn't bring her back.
No Clint tells everyone after the go back to their time. After Professor Hulk throws the wooden bench far he says we cant bring her back. The reason is reversing the soul stone sacrifice requires another time split and the soul stones price cannot be reversed. I think in order for that stone to "Spawn" it *NEEDS* the soul that was sacrificed for it.

I really hope that they have future plans for hulk period. I'd hate for the universal situation to cause them to give up on him.

Or, the damage done to his arm when he did his snap requires him being in human form for some reason to heal. It didn't look like it was healing when he had the hulk switch turned on.
Maybe the aggressive nature helps with the healing process and so he can't fully heal until he goes back to being Banner but even then it would take some time and then Hulk refuses to allow his body to be taken over by Bruce and killing his persona.
Can I just say how much I love Mark Ruffalo and how glad I am that we got him as the Hulk.
Imagine if we got Phoenix Force Wolverine vs a variant of Professor Hulk who became Maestro in the eventual Secret War/Multiverse-War Avengers movie

I would absolutely love that! Wolverine would win even just as his typical self since he did twice in the old man Logan comic where he was significantly weaker.
If it’s Maestro he saw then he would’ve powered down after the snap. Also both Bruce and The Hulk aspect of himself would both dislike Maestro do to his nature, that they would never want to become him in the first place, thus preventing that possible future!

I personally like the theory you brought up in your Wong vs Abomination video, that the gamma was depleted from Bruce by his Snap and gradually he returned to Bruce-size. On account of that, when his cousin needs an emergency blood transfusion, he can believe it’s safe enough to try. It fits with the more mundane and comedic tone of the She-Hulk series. As for who Bruce saw in the Soul Stone, it was probably Natasha, since her sacrifice was directly linked to the team getting the stone, and the theory that it’s her soul now inside it - since it’s not the same Soul Stone that contains Gamora’s soul. The audience would be able to understand that better than some random alternate Hulk. Same reason why they cut the Morgan in the Soul Stone sequence - it would be confusing because Natasha is the most logical candidate. I would adore seeing Maestro introduced to the MCU in some way tho. With the multiverse shenanigans to come, I’m sure the writers and Feige can figure it out.

From what i've seen with the maestro, he's always been triggered by additional exposure to more gamma radiation that corrupts his mind. I do see how MCU would go your route. It's different and would justify bring Maestro in, but i feel if they did it that way it would undercut the Maestro's story and strength in the movie and future movies he would be featured in. We all know we’re never gonna see this post credit scene in any movie after because when we saw captain marvel asking where is fury to cap in the post credit scene of captain marvel movie , we never got to see that scene in end game
Like some other people said right when I saw this scene I assumed it would be to heal his hand. Since in hulk form he was still in a sling, normal medical means would not help the hulk since his skins indestructible. So reverting back may have brought back easier means of medical use to heal his arm.
I liked Hulk’s evolution. Seeing Hulk as a being with his own agency in Ragnarok was a nice step forward. Seeing Professor Hulk in Endgame felt more like Banner with a big muscly green body and the personality that Hulk had in Ragnarok was gone. I am curious to see where they will take the character next after having seen Bruce in his human body in Shang Chi.

Disney practically ruined the Hulk character. I'm someone who grew up a huge Hulk fan since the 1970's, and although I love seeing a comic size Hulk on screen, Disney ruined it for us Hulk fans.

4:15 shot of maestro is so cool. I like going through seeing all the superheroes and what he has collected to represent them. But seeing the skeleton the realising its wolverine's skeleton because of the picture, genuinely gave me a sick feeling in my stomach. if they did do something with him id like to see that darkness portrayed. Even for marvel, it would be refreshing because the films are getting very campy.
I also love how this can turn everyone into knowing everything bout the human anatomy n become the screen writer for these movies

I don't follow the MCU much anymore, but I am glad that it has opened the doors of comicbook characters to a new generation of people. I remember doing a book report presentation about the origin of Iron Man in the 6th grade. Not one person in the class new who the heck that was lol. Now everyone in the world knows who Iron Man is.

Shang chi was AWESOME. Highly recommend to support the movie. Cant wait to watch it on disney+
It was quite an AVERAGE movie to be honest, rings got nerfed, why he left home is confusing, the last dragon was awfully generic and didn't had any name to begin with, back to Thor the dark world level. Why rings chose Shang-chi over his father was never explained. How his mother brought the talos wooden dragon was never explained. How he knew about the dragon pendent was not explained either. How he reached US and survived there was never ever hinted. His father ruled over china for centuries but was so much naive that he got fooled by a interdimensional being is beyond expectations. And how that flying pig kind of creature reached to Traver Slattery and he understands it's language despite of having no connection with the talos is just lazy writing. As I said it's just an average movie, just like Capt. Marvel, Ant-Man and Thor the dark world. Generic Villian, poor plot and sub-par acting from entire cast. Action was good but that was only good thing about the movie. I really don't know why people are praising this crap, every single episode of What if is better when compared to this bus wreck.

My responses below. - Rings chose Shang-chi because his father bequeathed them. Mandarin opened his hands as he was dying and gave them to his son as his last act. - Not sure why his mom bringing some kind of wooden dragon is important, but Mandarin moved his entire family away. - The Dad knew about the pendants because the dragon behind the gates told him through his “wife”. Shang-chi didn’t know anything about the pendant except that it was from his mom. - Shang-chi coming to US- just like anyone else. I’m sure he also had money, a passport etc. when he was taken to his assassin gig. He would survive just like any other immigrant, get a job, live on streets for a bit, etc. - The Dad wasn’t naive- he was heavily grieving the only woman he had ever loved and the only person who had ever loved him. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and someone took that away because he was weak without the rings. He has had been under the dragon’s spell for at least 10 years since he was killed. - The pig creature is from Asian mythology as are all of the others, so they can speak to who they want. It seems to have been abandoned down there after the wife was killed so they have a connection. Some of us love Kung Fu movies and are familiar with Asian mythology so glad to see it in MCU although the most “Marvel” parts are lesser than the director’s true vision.

The whole sister side story was unnecessary specially for an untrained being to reach where she was. It only paints Shang chi in bad light because he broke his I'll be back in 3 days promise. and him reached Macao before his father and his henchmen was also baffling. It was Mandarin's home terf for god's sake. Everything was rushed and very disappointing, reminds me of original justice league movie. Don't get me wrong, I'm a true Marvel fan and I love diversity too... But I don't get blinded by my biases. If that pig creature can talk to anyone he wants wouldn't it be a better idea if he talked to Shang chi instead of Traver Slattery? Shang-chi saw that creature for the first time in his adulthood and had no prior memory of it, which means it has no special connection with his mom either, it was just a weak plot device shoehorned there to drag story forward. His late mother left him and his sister combat clothes in her native village but never took them there😂 but wove and left perfectly fitted clothes for her children before they were even born. I had very high hopes with this movie but honestly I'm heartbroken at the moment.

Grey Hulk as the evil wise cracking anti hero was awesome. Would love to see him make an appearance. But Maestro was cool too.

I coiuld probably find 20 stronger and more overpowered characters than the Hulk in Marvel and DC universes by googling for 20 seconds, and I'm not even a cpmic books fan, simply because of the ridiculous power creep writers keep introducing just to keep the teenage and neckbeard crowd interested.

My assumption was that Hulk became Banner so that Hulk could heal within him. Because Banner did have his arm in a sling
Hulk didn't need any healing when Professor Hulk was born so that doesn't make any sense. Professor Hulk did the snap and his arm was still in a sling afterwards. The Hulk's persona was replaced with Bruce. I can see Hulk re-emerging and cause havoc because of him believing Bruce lied and tried to kill him off.
Can't wait for these Hulk storylines!

Hulk/Banner have always been disrupted when exposed to massive amounts of gamma. The stones zapped Banner/Hulk badly enough to burn him with gamma. Bingo he got his cooked enough to loose Banner/Hulk.
Then why for Tony starks funeral and the final seen on Endgame is he still in professor hulk form when that must take place some days or weeks after the final battle. And they would have to deal with the fall out and explanation as the what actually happened, I believe they would have to do all this before Tony’s funeral as some snapped victims are present such as thunderbolt Ross , Nick Fury, Maria Hill and more so surely the government/world must be informed. So how would it have split them apart?

My theory is that the glove's damage was more insidous and Bruce/Hulk fusion fades only leaving Bruce and that is the reason Bruce gives her a transfusion thinking it's safe. Bruce/Hulk saw his father in spirit world and there was some mending of fences.
If I'm remembering it correctly, Bruce had his arm in a sling in the end credits of Shang Chi. It might be that Bruce needs to heel from the Snap, despite Hulk seemingly being healed.
It could also be that the injury from the snap isn't just physical. The Hulk heals almost instantly so he wouldn't need a sling in almost any circumstance. Any wound that would 'require' one he would heal before he got it. However the exception to that would be a psychological 'injury' from the mind stone. It could be some type of psychosomatic injury.

@@scorpiusbalthazar4327 One of the concepts in the comics was that Hulk had several disassociated personalities. A psychological 'injury' could effect one of them without effecting the others. Other than that I don't know.

Are there injuries that require a permanent arm sling? Cause I’m more confused how Captain Marvel’s hair grew back so quick but Banner’s still slinging his arm. Also doesn’t the Hulk side increase Banner’s healing capabilities a bit? Seemed to heal nicely after landing spine first on Strange’s staircase.
I believe that the power of snapping the six infinity stones defenitely will give permanent damage to the wielder. Iron man died but Thanos and Bruce got seriously wounded by snapping their fingers, and that's because those two were barely able to physically handle those space stones

Leader's not gonna appear in the MCU, he was killed in the Avengers Prequel Comics by Black Widow before he could become the Leader.
I think it will happen in the next phase, or in a crossover with another universe, because this phase seems to be about multiverses and not setup for Maestro. Could be a Thunderbolts tie in, but who knows. Something just occurred to me as well, what if the Banner from Shang Chi is actually a Secret Skrull? And actually Professor Hulk is trapped somewhere being tested on?
So in Shang-Chi, Banner’s arm was still in a sling. BUT, his hand and neck weren’t burned or scarred in any way like it was in Endgame. Perhaps there was some level of healing when he transformed back to Banner. Maybe transformations trigger more healing on both sides. Or, it was just a hologram and it wasn’t really Banner at all.
Older Morgan was a great idea. Also I think Bruce finds a way to separate from hulk but it keeps a form of intelligence from that separation due to the memory of the events of the past.
It's detailed, but I'd imagine a simpler, basic blood transfusion pulls the hulk "apparently" out of Bruce would be the answer. It writes hulk out of the action, giving she hulk the spot light without question, and if you want to reveal that Sterns set up the situation later in the series it's a minor adjustment that keeps him out of story until the writer wants him
Nah I was thinking that but it would suck if they write him this way. Because he’s bled before and never had hulk taken out of him. I think he had to reverse back to banner to give his cousin the transfusion because you can’t penetrate hulks skin. He could’ve changed himself back at will, had Wong or dr strange use magic on him etc. that would leave the door open for him to hulk out in the show maybe close to the end
Aside from Hulk being my favorite character. Marvel hasnt done well with him only making him less and less the Hulk. With that being side to redeem this they could pay off both his visions. The first from Wanda during Ultron and the 2nd from End Game after the snap. High hopes!

Super-strength becomes much less relevant when you don't have the body mass and weight to back it up also have the ability to fly magically with superboost. If you are 1.5m tall and weight 50kg, regardless of how strong you are someone twice your weight could still shove you aside or lift you up. Anyone with Telekinesis can easily neutralize the Hulk -- remember Greek myth of Hecules defeating Antaeus, son of Gaia, by holding him up above Hercules' head without contact to the earth -- and turning yourself human-sized instead of 4m tall just makes that easier.
It didn't shock me seeing Bruce. But, he looked like he has aged over a decade. What's the story behind that?
Could just be that we haven’t seen him in human form since infinity war and Shang chi takes place over 5 years later in universe and he could’ve been aging that whole time even if he was smart hulk and when he turned back to Bruce it became more noticeable
