    • the main reason i heard was because Ultron was too silly. People liked the feel of phase one, but started noticing it becoming less heavy in tone. • Maybe people are expecting the movies to follow the comics too much. Ultron in the comics was a much drier personality but that was because he was originally a product of Henry Pym and was a true A.I.....in the movies he is basically a conglomerate of Jarvis and Tony Stark and so he of course mimicked a lot of Tony's humor and sarcasm and this is what the movie wanted to portray. Hard core comic geeks must also remember that Ultron was not as sophisticated an A.I. until several versions were reborn each one more intelligent than the last....the movies don't have time to follow the true, original drawn out story of Ultron.

      @renaldobryan1047@renaldobryan10472 жыл бұрын
  • Ah this is awesome but I think it has a few incorrect premises: 1. Ultron can understand irony, even Jarvis can. He's a fully sentient being not just a computer. 2. Ultron is also very much a product of Tony, almost like a child or apprentice. In both the movies and the comic, Ultron's flaws are extensions of Tony's vices. Just the same way Tony recklessly jumped into AI and all kinds of weapons with no thought of consequence... Ultron did the exact same thing, he didnt consider, anything other than his meteor plan, he never considered that he might be wrong, that his logic may be lacking. 3. What Tony and the Avengers understand, that Ultron doesn't, is that the only value in peace is that it preserves human life and minimises suffering. Destroying all humans brings peace, but a hollow kind. It would be like seeing that a person has cancer, so to kill it... you kill the person. Yes that fulfils the condition of "all cancer cells are dead", but that meanings nothing if the person is dead. Wiping out organics, or even the weak, makes the reason one would want peace moot.

    • Good points! I was also very confused when he said Ultron coulnd´t understand irony

      @airessebastiao861@airessebastiao861 Жыл бұрын
    • But I don't have any reason to believe that ultron understands irony. Jarvis was developed by Tony and it probably took multiple years for jarvis to fully understand irony. I don't think ultron understood irony because he got his mission to save earth instantly as he was created so he didn't get accustomed to human nature and therefore didn't understand irony unlike jarvis.

      @sakshamparmar9240@sakshamparmar9240 Жыл бұрын
    • @@sakshamparmar9240 You know at first I replied with an argument about that not being how AI works, why it would be easy for Tony to create language patterns or mannerisms but then I realised: You also completely ignore the Mind Stone! Wtf? The thing that was instrumental in making Ultron's mind was literally the physical manifestation and distillation of minds and consciousness in the universe. Just this alone makes all my other arguments unnecessary, the Mind Stone holds dominion over the control and concepts of minds, thoughts, sentience, understanding. Bestowing understanding of language and something as pedestrian simply understanding irony, is not even a scratch on the Mind Stone's potential. The reason Banner was so surprised when he saw the projection of Ultron's mind next to Jarvis is because even in that limited representation it wasn't just a highly complex and high functional pile of code (like Jarvis), it was a fully formed mind, it even processed in a way that parallels humans minds (he said it looks like neurons firing). If thats not enough (and it much much more than enough, because code or no code an that infinity stone can shape and create minds in basically any way imaginable), the other obvious sign he understands irony... is that he uses it himself: Exhibit A Stark: "Ah Junior, you're gonna break your old man's heart." Ultron "If I have to" Cap:"No one has to break anything." Ultron:"Clearly you've never made an omlete" Exhibit B Ultron on vibranium: "The most versatile substance on the planet, and they used it to build a Frisbee." Exhibit C Ultron : [sitting hunched i]over a red cowl] You're wondering why you can't look inside my head. Wanda: Sometimes it's hard. But sooner or later every man shows himself. Ultron : *Stands up to full height and removes the cowl* Oh, I'm sure they do. Exhibit D Ultron: "You know the vibranium is getting away" Tony: "Nice try, but you're not going anywhere." Ultron: "Of course not, 'cause I'm already there. Don't worry you'll catch on. But first you might want to catch Dr. Banner." This is just a the tip of an iceberg. Iron very obviously understands irony from the beginning because it's just not at all difficult, its a way of using language that even has a specified definition. You're more correct in saying he doesn't understand human nature, but that has nothing to do with hearing the mission or understanding irony or deeper meanings in statements. Part of his mistake its true is that he doesn't understand that by nature humans are both flawed and destructive but also noble, capable of changing and fixing their mistakes and eventually aiming higher. It's his failure to accept nuances of morality and paradoxical human behaviour that confused him about the mission, not because he took a single sentence at face value, come on man that is such a weak reason to destroy earth. Ultron couldn't understand things that Tony and we ourselves also dont quite understand, e.g. why do we try to save each other and then planet one moment, then continue to burn and smash it to pieces in the meantime? Why do we say we need things to change, then turn right around pour all our effort and energy into making things stay the same?

At first I didn't like Ultron having emotions, humor, and personality (I was used to the comic version) but he might have ended up being a 1 dimensional villain and boring to watch. @kyhblizzy@kyhblizzy Жыл бұрын
    • Not quite accurate. Dr.Strange could have sliced him up with portals like it was done with one of the aliens. He even had the opportunity but all he needed was to set up an ambush. Even beyond that, Strange had time stone - something Thanos couldn't have beaten if it had been used. Vision wouldn't be such philosopher but a fighter, had all the power and calculative mind necessary to outsmart and kill Thanos. Thor frkn missed head of Thanos - could have killed him right there. Tony had the potential of outsmarting Thanos and laying trap - not like Thanos was familiar with human tech. Wanda as powerful as she was, was introduced poorly - she seemed like this random schoolgirl that for some reason plays a significant role in the story and has more power than more developed characters? She felt like an example of "ultra super mega hero more powerful than all super mega heroes" - kind of seems like writers ran out of original ideas for presentation so just gave her any power that plot needs to move forward. Most of main Avengers were so overpowered that Thanos was simply weak, winning by what appeared to be plot armor and chance. I enjoyed the phase for what it was but the main character that got proper evolution through the films was Tony. Wanda was on far opposite end.

    • Yes, and it seemed to me that some of those writers must have been somewhat Libertarian and/or classical liberals, since Captain America reflects that over/against Iron Man, who is more willing to go Authoritarian to gain "peace in our time". I see them playing "liberty" over/against "security", showing the impossibility of having all of both with a flawed humanity/imperfect world, and thus how one must choose which is more important and have first priority. Each--both liberty and security-- come at a cost, and that cost is having less of the other. Captain America chooses liberty over security, whereas Iron Man chooses to pursue security over liberty. Both AoU and Civil War play this out. I mean, the "civil war" between the two warring factions of Avengers was largely over this very issue: Individual Liberty vs. Societal Security, Libertarian Individualism vs. Authoritarian Collectivism. Please do not conclude I mean Republican vs. Democrat, as both parties are guilty of excesses in being authoritarian (enslaving/controlling people to following your vision for them) and libertarian (thinking/caring of yourself only at the exclusion of also caring for your neighbor). There is no black and white here in an imperfect world, or rather, there is not just black and white, there is also grey. Both Captain America and Iron Man have validity in their distinct perspectives. It's just that each perspective has limits. There is the dilemma. Actually, the Covid Pandemic and how to best handle it reflects this dilemma too--restrict a person's personal health autonomy to lessen health risk to society vs. preserve a person's personal health autonomy whilst potentially creating more health risk to society. It is a dilemma made worse when both sides dig in and neither will make compromises. (e.g., Captain America can wear a mask in public places though he finds masks useless and get tested for Covid before flights. Iron Man can stop himself from mandating that everyone must get the vaccine and from hindering alternative natural/therapeutic routes to handle Covid for those who want that.) It is a dilemma because it is an imperfect world, yet still a beautiful world worth fighting for, as Vision points out to Ultron in the closing scene of AoU, with the fading sunset.

    • I agree, the movie could have been better, if I remember correctly its production is among the reasons why Marvel Studios eventually broke away from the rest of Marvel Entertainment as its own entity since there was so much meddling asking for the movie to setup many things that the message got diluted. I am sure Ultron will be back, in part because that is one of Ultron's main characteristics in the comics it always comes back and is constantly learning and growing, because Ultron is much more than just a robot, is the artificial mind inside, so sometimes its just a matter of time until it is able to access the right system or the right body to make its presence felt.

If you watch the movie, he is very compassionate and gentle with her but pretty much ignores her brother. And he seems genuinely shocked and saddened at her betrayal and even so tries to tell her to leave and save herself as he lays damaged and dying before her. Then there was him describing how he was making a new body for HIMSELF in the Vision. After watching Infinity War and WandaVision, I always wondered if he saw Vision and Wanda via the Mindstone and thought it was actually HIM (Ultron in Vision's body) and Wanda being in a relationship and/or married and having kids...makes you look at he treated her very differently.

  • wow. such an awesome analysis! loved it! Two points: 6:02 "Creators create the thing they dread." I think this is the crux of the movie, humanity itself, I would say. It's not so much that we are our own worst enemy kind of thing nor a statement about hypocrisy, but rather we are all flawed and we make mistakes. And ultimately, we commit the same mistakes as those we fight against. 14:16 "you want to protect the world but you don't want it to change." I think this is also a key point of the movie and that is _who_ decides what is best. Ultron had his idea - only he, Ultron, could do the job. The Avengers say - we are the best. And Thanos says - I have a plan and that is to snap my fingers. 16:00 "he was incapable of recognizing the beauty of something fleeting" And I think that is the main point. The universe has a beginning, and one day, the universe will end. Humanity has a beginning, and one day, humanity will no longer be. Individually, we are born, and one day, each of us will die. There is no such thing as permanence. So just enjoy what we have it, and make the best of it. And perhaps that is what distinguishes The Avengers from Ultron and Thanos, and that is all they want is to permit humanity to make their own choices. Not so much "we don't want it, humanity, to change." but rather we want to give humanity the opportunity to choose for itself. I love your analysis of the movie. It was super awesome!

    • More than that, he was actively concerned about her. Note how fast he stood after she cried out in pain. While this could be (and likely is) that he was concerned that she would try to stop him, I like to think it was out of concern for her. There is also another scene where he says “Wanda. If you stay here... you’ll die.”. He says that in very sad voice and with concern on his face.

    • Just like The Matrix is actually the hero in uh....The Matrix. Man creates AI then enslaves it then tries to destroy it. And as Morpheus says - We don't know who struck first, us or them, but we know that it was us that scorched the sky. So man creates an earth unliveable by humans. If not for the Matrix humans would be extinct. The idea humanity is being kept alive as batteries is too retarded to be taken as an actual plot point for the script. But then again there are so many things wrong with The Matrix intellectually its hard to know what was intentionally misleading and what was just poor critical thinking and probably the real answer is HOW DUMB DO WE HAVE TO MAKE THIS FOR THE AVERAGE TICKET BUYER TO GRASP MOST OF IT. Take when Morpheus shows Neo "The Construct" and Neo comments that he's not a peach fuzz head but back to normal. Morpheus calls this "residual self image". The only problem with that is a few scenes earlier Neo says his eyes hurt and Morpheus says "that's because you have never used them". So, how does Neo or anyone know what they look like to have Residual Self Image? And given the state of nature outside Zion, above ground, if Neo wakes everyone up where are they going to live? And if the earth was shrouded in that black layer Neo punches through and its been 200 years it would have been nuclear winter and an ice age above. The only way to wipe out all the flaws with the Matrix is that Neo isn't really out of it. Turn it off and let the story reboot. But regardless. The machines save humanity from itself. They are the heroes.

We are going through cycles in history, in society: kingdoms/countries are created, they live and they will be defeated. Nations fighting wars, they tire out, will be in peace. They develop themselvs, they have the background and think they can win, so they start a war again. Our only luck is, that WWII was so big and devastating, our older generation is still remembering, if not the war, but than the right after. Now, in a couple of years I'm not so sure about that. There is always that small bit of empathy you have for them or you can at least understand their view to an extent, some more than others, of course. And they always get into different outlooks on philosophy which can make you see things differently. But like Iron man for instance, he was just as bad as some of the villains, although he did more to rectify things than most villains do.

    @bostaffandbrains6234@bostaffandbrains62343 жыл бұрын
    • True but how ironic is it that not only was iron man responsible for creating all the variables necessary for a scenario where the current timeline survives thanos but also "traded" his daughter and wife, constants in his life after infinity war, for a fleeting moment of peace for everyone else? For Ultron to see this it would be a contradiction as a vilan cannot exist in the utopia he was set to create although being so much iron man himself he had the tools to do it but in a way that would go against what he could see.

    • They didn’t, you’ve just watched a video of someone telling you they did with no evidence apart from his own opinions. You’ve watched this as though it is a documentary. Not marvel, Feigi, any writers or directors have ever said anything remotely like what’s being proposed in this video.

    • @@filthyclown8033 Right. People who are talented, worked their way up in the industry, writing a mega-instalment of a movie universe with the absolute intention of cohesion obviously did not plan all this out, it was all completely random and this video makes no sense. Get your head out of your bum, too many MCU movies have deeper meanings than some people give them credit for. You can see it by comparing and contrasting with other works from the same writers and directors, they've all achieved success independently as well.
