When you rewatch Thor: Love and Thunder, it's obvious that Gorr was right about many of the gods being opulent a-holes that don't care abut ordinary people. But what about the necrosword? Why did it want to kill the gods? Was it connected to Venom, like in the comics? Or was it created by Galactus to be the weapon of his heralds?
When. you start to add up the missing pieces of the cosmic/multiverse saga...it all starts to make sense.

IT HAS BEEN OVER A MONTH! WHEN ARE WE GETTING "WHAT IF HYDRA WON PART 2???"
I think eternity is Tony stark. I think the snap think did with the gauntlet made him to a being like how Loki did
Can we get a video on why Thor and Odin not part of the council of gods?
I have been telling you all for years.
Asgard was just kind of a sliver of a planet, not a whole planet. Is it possible that a celestial was born from Asgard, but they had the power to at least keep part of their home intact? A civilization powerful enough to survive the birth of a celestial would be pretty god-tier.
I like this theory a lot
Good theory
Would explain why their population was so small as well.
No man, asgard is just Flat-Assgard
@@HaddaClu Their pop was small because they were Immortal/Extremely long lived. If they didn't maintain their population they would have been overrun with people.
I just hope at some point Thor can meet/see Loki from the series. I think it would be a great thing for Thor to see this version of Loki. Thor mentions often how much he believed in Loki and hoped he'd change. So for Thor to see Loki as a guardian of his own multiverse of sorts and what he did and how he had changed would be pretty cool to see.
I hope they never meet again,
@@rzn2258awful take
But Thor MUST bring Love with him to meet Uncle Loki!!!
they will, its a matter of time
They'll never do that. Thor is comedic relief and the MCU punching bag. They clearly hate Thor as a character.
The gods of the MCU being as horrible and unforgiving as they are pretty much asked for someone like Gorr to start hunting them down. They failed their people besides maybe the asgardians.
And people thought odin was horrible
That blank statements is unequivocally false. In Thor L&T, We see that the gods abandoned earth and those who didn't, have had their hand in the cookie jar for so long. Ie. Thor falling to earth, Odin Conquering Earth, Loki attacking Earth. We see that Gorr's god was using his people. We see that gorr killed numerous gods, even the gods who lived and cultivated alongside their people. We see that Gorr kills a kind and peaceful god who doesn't have a people to worship him. Saying "Gorr is Right" is saying "This Serial killer is not that bad." As Odin says, "I am not God of all people. I am King of Asgard." And the MCU Asgardians are long lived mortals aside from the actual gods.
Maybe now more people will stop pledging loyalty to false gods irl @@cky7765
Still better than our gods
Because the asgardian gods were more nobility than gods to their ppl
I kinda hate that the necrosword corrupted gorr. In Jasson Aaron's Thor run they make the point that gorr isn't insane and actually in control of his actions, making him more terrifying, and it makes the reader (and Thor) question whether he us right. In Love & Thunder the audience had to SEE the gods beings dicks and then have gorr comment on it later so we could maybe agree with him, because otherwise we just see him as insane. Not super related to this vid but thought I'd bring it it up.
Anyone who has ever heard of "Unworthy Thor" now knows after reading this, that Gorr was indeed right. In the Original Sin story, Nick Fury, also known at the time as The Man On The Wall, stole Uatu's eye and this granted him the vision of Uatu and when Thor came at him, he whispered in his ear and instantly Thor could no longer hold Mjolnir. The words he said to Thor? "Gorr was right" There you have it.
They did butcher Gorr's story in the mcu and kinda killed off the knull link to the necrosword, so at least for those who we enjoyed the comics the whole movie was a shame 😧
@RELAXcowboy It was always interesting to me that all it took for Mjolnir to reject Thor was for Fury to get him to acknowledge his doubts about his God hood. This is why comics Gorr is the best Marvel villian. It didn't matter that he died relatively quickly (minus his resurrection in King Thor), his legacy haunts Thor to this day.
(Well best minus Doc Doom)
It's because everyone is in their feelings these days.
Your true knowledge of comic books and their lore is appreciated. Its nice to listen to a video about this material from someone who really knows it. You make the other youtubers from comics look like the amateurs. Keep up the good work!
14:15 One can even reference Ultron for the "they started as Protectors" part. His primary purpose was to protect earth, but he decided that to protect earth, he has to actively go out and decimate humanity. Similarly, a young Odin might have thought in order to protect Asgard and the rest of the galaxy, he had to conquer it first.
Well, he did bring order to the 9 Realms for the most part, and he wasn't even the one who started all the wars across the cosmos to begin with
Sometimes, one must conquer to bring order. Because a unified galaxy, at least won't breakdown like a regular splintered galaxy would. It even gives the benefit of a person that people could unite against, but at the very least. There can be relative peace and stability.
My biggest complaint of all this is they introduced the NecroSword and didn’t make it about Knull or have anything to do with him.
They did mention Knull, however he also said that in "his" theory galactus created the sword. My understanding from this video was that Knull became an extention of Galactus like the silver surfer was. It does fit together quite well and does make sense.
Yet....
@@themis828no way in hell knull is an extension of galactus. That’s delusional and makes no sense
@@themis828 Knull also came from the previous universe. He is also God level, akin to Galactus.
Well with Sony taking back the spiderman rights, I'm not sure if they are going to be able to bring the symbiotes to the MCU - if they mentioned Knull directly, that might give fans hope for venom and carnage.
I think you, most other KZhead Theorists, and epically us Fans are putting WAY more thought into this than any of the writers at Disney are currently 😏
I think you are right
when it comes to disney's mcu... it can be compared to the business model used by bethesda basically, you tease a product as it's being worked on, then you release it before it's fully developed, then have your fan base fix the problems (I meant features) for you, then re-release the product with the new fixes in place in the realm of comics, the process is known as "retconning" see? easy peasy
Gorr wa right, Thanos was right every Marvel Villain is right
Thanos was definitely not right wtf
Stane wasn't right.
The Red Skull was right
Was kang right too?
@@BuckyBarnesATL wrong. they just hate bullshit for the sake of bullshit
As a long time comic fan, I like this as a movie explanation for everything. It's not what I read, nor how the stories came out previously, but this is kind of neat tying all of the strings together.
WOW! Just, Wow! This was the deepest deep dive you've had that I totally wasn't expecting! Great points, intriguing theories, and I'm still taking it all in. I'll probably have to watch this a few more times, and then again to really understand everything presented. I love that your team can go back to what was originally in the comic books of yore, and connect it all to the digital moving picture stories of today. Great video as always- and thank you for this wealth of Marvel-ous information!
Agree with this!
Hey Ryan, I just noticed something, in one of your clips from the Eternals, it shows Arisham? (Red celestial) leaving earth through a black hole. As we learned in Loki our universe is inside a black hole separate from the TVA and the citadel of time. So does this mean the celestial arnt actually FROM or in our universe?
Your theories are usually awesome, and this one is no exception. Hope Kevin and team watches your channel and pick up ideas to better the still foundering MCU.
100% agree
This is probably one of the best videos i have ever watched. The theories and storyline accuracies kept me glued
same and ive never seen any of these movies, this video popped up on my feed and imma watch them all in order this weekend lol they look cinematically beautiful, i thought you all were just a bunch of nerds but now.. i want to be one of you
10:20 Asgardians are never in any movie depicted as aliens with advanced technology that was mistaken for magic. There are two related comments in Thor's movie. Thr first is by Jane Foster who misquotes Carl Sagan. The original quote is "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". It means that advanced technology can look like magic, not, as Jane Foster misquotes, that "magic is only technology we don't understand". And the other by Thor himself stating that for Asgardians technology and magic are one and the same. That's not the same thing as stating that they don't use magic, but only advanced technology.
I really like this way of tying Love and Thunder and Gorr in with so many other elements of the MCU.
Great theory! Can't wait to see how it plays out
This is a really interesting theory- great job at connecting all these dots from the MCU.
I use movie references all of the time, your video format helps me recall "What's that movie?" *In my What's That Pokémon voice*
WOW!!! This was really good, subscribed! 👍
The new Thor had such great performances. That beginning with his kid was harsh and Bale did the emoting so well, I teared up. That was strong writing. What happened?
This video was very well done. Respect to team ScreenCrush!
Really entertaining and informative thanks a lot really enjoyed that
Enjoyed this content!
Gorr has a pretty good point. In the comic, he kills gods of murder and torture. He should have stuck with being a cosmic version of Punisher. I believe that Disney is going to use the Multiverse Saga as a way to reboot the MCU. I maintained this for years and with declining box office takes, I'm sure they will bring this to a close, wait a few years, then start it up again.
Try to and fail worse you mean
I don't care if Christian Bale did not have a lot of screen time. I like his acting
As a father and comics fan, this is a perfect video. Exceptionally well done!!!
Love this! Thanks guys!
If the writers of this channel wrote for the MCU, it would be saved at the snap of a finger! This would be a genius way of personifying the comic version of Galactus with an MCU tie-in. I doubt the MCU is that clever. Hopefully, some of their writers and creators watch this channel and get some proper inspiration from it.
I dunno about this one; For Gorr, while I understand why he'd be pissed, him killing so many Gods, whether he knows if they're good or bad or not, actually leaves him as a worse character than the Gods he so hates. The Gorr Comics actually portrayed this well. Not to mention, entire species and planets are now doomed because of him. The comics show this actually very well in full, cause some planets wouldn't be able to support life/be hospitable for most life or sentient beings to live and grow. When Gorr wipes out Pantheons, some planets entire ability to support life is taken away. One time, after some Sky Gods died, the planet's atmosphere couldn't naturally keep it up, and it stopped raining and the weather was destructive/chaotic. In the Comics he mentioned how he "knew the truth" and that Sentient life and stuff would blast into existence, and no "Gods" were needed cause life would happen with or without them, but he doesn't get that entirely true, as there's plenty of Planets where without the Gods, the planet simply couldn't sustain life. And when he went after Asgardians, and said Thor's entire Pantheon would be wiped out, it makes you wonder... he's killing all Gods based off the action of a single situation he alone dealt with? And assumed every God everywhere must be the same? Even though ironically it was his Gods fighting to protect life in the Universe by facing Knull who carried the Necrosword. Gorr then kills his God when he asks for help, not even knowing the situation. The movie doesn't do justice to either the Argument for or against Gorr or the Gods nearly as well...
Hence why the comics is better. If I recall in the comics, didn't his son (being a part of his sub-conscious) called Gorr the "god of hypocrisy".
Yoooo....This is, by far, the best synopsis of the MCU. Period. Great writing. Brilliant editing. Give that man (Mr. Terehovsky) a raise.
THANKS for this, ScreenCrush Gang!!!!
With Kang gone, I’d like to see a redirection towards Galactus but then a surprise twist to reveal Mephisto. Heel turns, spies, double agents, redemptions, and character arcs are more interesting than a giant hungry alien.
Galactus isn't interesting because he's a giant hungry alien, he's interesting because of what he brings out in the protagonists. The dilemma of whether or not to kill a God who's a balancing force in the universe but if you don't your planet is fucked is a pretty darn cool concept.
well that went well for them in secret invasion.
You mean, "Batman" was right?
Your mom was right
You mean “Bateman” was right? 🤔🤣
what a bait!
This all connects back to The Empire of the Sun. Malkovich, Malkovich, Malkovich, The End
I've been reading and collecting comics, specifically marvel since I was 5. I'm 42 now so I believe I'm pretty well versed in them. I must say, I was captivated by this video, hung onto it word for word. This theory is a HUGE stretch lol. It makes sense in a way, but I'm not sold. I would def explore other theories.
I like these mini-essays rather than half-assed episode reactions or the podcast format, because I feel the creative writing rather than just "nerd talking to another nerd or the camera"
When loki brought together all the stories/universes, didn't it look an awful lot like the world tree? I thought it did.
There is a theory that Goer realised there was hope for the gods at the end of Thor Love and Thunder when he noticed Thor was bleeding red and not gold from his wounds during battle. Proving he hadn’t fallen to the decadence of the other gods.
Awesome video, great work!
I totally forgot to watch the post credits scenes in Love & Thunder. Seeing that was a surprise.
I can imagine Hayden Christensen playing Gorr the God Killer.
I don't like gods.
I don't like sand. The sand killer
This was well written and well explained.... Already crushing it at the highest level at the beginning of the year!
NGL, you've rejuvenated my hope for the MCU and I really hope this theory is close to accurate. I like all the layers but man, the part where gods are just super mutants is so awesome!!
This is an AWESOM breakdown that ties everything together and may (small m) save the MCU from "hero fatigue"!!! Great job guys!😁
Well done Guys. This is a really enjoyable episode 💛 It is a great insights into Marvel. I'm half afraid to say it to my kids in case this theory makes it to the big screen😂
If you're theory about Galactus being necessary to restart the multiverse holds up to be true, Ryan then it would be a type of poetic justice when Franklin Richards from Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer to summon Galactus to eat the multiverse in the Secret Wars film.
You're make me appreciate a little more thor 4 you really good team, nice doing 👍!
In our opinion, this is one of, if not the best video this channel has ever done. The realistic breakdown of the "G/gods" in the MCU in relation to how religion has influenced so many in our universe despite contradictions that exist in so many of them was perfectly put on point. Glad we rejoined your channel!
Galactus was made to keep the celestials in check.
I can see Gorr getting along with Kratos.
Absolutely great videos are absolutely great. And this was Grrrrrreeaat stamped by Tony the Tiger!! 👍
Great video !
Once you've read the comic, the movie becomes beyond disappointing. The sword was supposed to introduce KNULL and how it connects to Venom. 😊
Super interesting take. I love that story arc if it is created.
Ryan, Thanks so much. A great analysis and storytelling.
Superb and magnificent explanation👍👍
Imagine if Gorr appeared in Ragnarok or Infinity War.
Thanos wouldve flipped his fingers and massacred him with infinity stones.
As I said before, I love the movie it's really funny but that's not my Gorr lol perfect actor, great story but terribly powered down from my expectations. I wanted him to be more of a threat to everyone and no be killed off so easy. I also don't care how he looks!
Hey will you do one of those “Everything You Need to Know” videos for TWD: The Ones Who Live???
I've never pivoted from "yeah right..." to "holy shit, you're on to something"so hard in less than 30 minutes. Super well done. I also didn't realize Gorr's daughter was the avatar of eternity, wow.
I rewatched Love and Thunder a few weeks ago. I liked it to start with. I acknowledge it got a bit too silly at times. We all know it. Taika knows, Kevin, Chris, etc. But as a whole, I really liked it. But after watching it again now over a year removed. It got better to me. I do wish Gorr could have lived and became something bigger. Or done better. Everyone I know personally loved it as it is. Its their favorite MCU film as of lately. These being casual MCU fans. And more die hard fans I know grew to enjoy it alot. Point is, I hope more people come to like it more than they did or to back and give it another shot.
Took me a month to get through the whole movie ...3/4 Thor moves suck
It is simply terrible. Just the depiction of Zues alone.
Man imagine if Disney hired the guys of this channel to write the MCU. Thing would be alot better.
The studio heads really REALLY need to find a few of these channels and absorb what is being said. This is the fandom...and while they can't please everyone they'd learn something. It is sad I've understood the movies and TV shows more for watching these videos. They were more companion pieces at first, easter eggs bc I didn't know all the comics. Now they are necessary to explain things or help make the content better. I mean I'm still going to watch the hero stuff bc I like it...but I would like to not NEED to come to SC or NR, etc. to get the full story.
I think its more likely Galactus added the quest or seintience to the sword with his cosmic powers, much like he did to make the Silver Surfer, Terror Axe, etc etc
Glacticus was/is the fullfilment of Thano's dream although he may not have known it, as he keeps the Etenals endless creation in check.
Thanos ...got tons of knee and other knowledge yo ....was basically just a grunt compared to GALACTUS... like if he didn't sweep ...some one was gonna xD Like saying eternals are idk .... ULTRONS DREAM 😂😅😊
I think this is what makes Thor such an interesting juxtaposition character, he's a different superhero because he's a god and he's a different god because he's a superhero. If Gareth Edwards is truly going to direct a fifth Thor film, I hope he and the screenwriters can find a way to tap back into that inherit juxtaposition successfully again.
What if Galactus' purpose is to maintain balance of the Celestials as we see with EGO, he wanted to infect every world in the universe to spread his influence. So with the Celestials being birthed, Galactus is like the predator who consumes the Celestial essence appointed by his choosing. And since Tiamat, though dead, is now residing in Earth - this would be the perfect opportunity for Galactus to arrive and enter conflict.
One of the best movie analysis videos ive watched in a long time
Did anyone else notice that Gorr looks like Knull for a few seconds when he shows up in the cage with the kids.
Knull is far more terrifying man!
@@king_mega1670 no i mean he literally looks like knull for a split second. he shows up behind the kids in the cage.
@@DanBatemanBlack Hmm... I saw it again and your partially right, the darkness in the cage and him wearing that white cloth on his head made it seem like he had white hair like Knull, but he lacked the glowing red eyes like Knull, so he doesn't appear as Knull to me, i guess it's only you that's seeing it that way in that split second
@@king_mega1670 right the hood make it look like knulls white hair i'm glad you saw it as well
Nice video, very well done. I LOVE Thor 4 it might not have been as dark as the JA run but it had its moments of pain that I felt.
That was awesome, i would love to see that story told.
This is a very awesome and interesting deep dive on Gorr and Galactus theories! So here me out, if Galactus is Entropy, when Gorr reached Eternity that "celestial statue" we seen. What if that was Galactus's statue? Yeah that statue mask resemble a Celestial but Marvel is known to change things around so if you looked closely at the sides of the statue head doesn't not resemble Galactus helmet? 🤔
Always looking back at movies we all align with the villains because the motives were right. Maybe not the means but they were right.
tis rare tho
What's so special about "god killing" weapons? Gods can be killed by regular weapons. I'm pretty sure Hulk could kill Asgardians by punching them hard enough.
Well seeing as slamming him into concrete so hard it left a imprint didn't kill him, I'm not so sure...but also by this theory Hulk would qualify as a god...
@@warofwrath a new god aka a superhero
What a great explanation 👏 that was fantastic
Disney really needs you guys, i mean most of the theories are way better than what we get.
If only the current MCU was as well written as your theories 😭
Just had to pause to mention at about two minutes they show Thor saying "Is that the Necrosword? It's cool! I've only read about it." and it brought me back to the balanced humor of Ragnarok. How good this movie really coulda been, man. Gahhhhhh
" Big bang is a space vomit "🤣🤣🤣🤣 LoL. well said!
Amazing illustration.
Very deep analysis. Great work by the writer
Well thought out and logically sound. I like it.
Best video from this channel!!!
That is an amazing theory! It would be awesome to see it play out, but it may be a little too complicated to be understood by the average viewer and how will it all play in to secret wars is an even more interesting question…
I just love, as the video went on the word God felt more like a species or bad comic book villain lol
The Celestials might be the Titans of Mythology who appeared in Far From Home and ruled the universe but got betrayed by their creations who became the Gods of Myths.
I just started playing Marvel Snap, and now I'm so engrossed by this multi-verse :o
i feel like this dudes studio is an old decommissioned blockbuster store.
great video!
So Odin or his father Borr must have known if not created the door/key to Eternity.
Just wanna say this one too, the watcher technically is "us" they're supposed to represent us the watcher of the media. We're really not supposed to see him at all unless they're breaking the 4th wall, and we and "the watcher" respond to something. It's effectively a tool for an extreme version of a 4th wall break.
Thank you for helping me see some actual depth to Thor Love and Thunder.
agree 😄
Infinity and Eternity are literally the universe, they're always trying to maintain it, and by extension, themselves.
Despite the… “comedy”… Love and Thunder was more effective in its “Eat the rich” message than The Batman.
Really good video
He was the best part of that movie. I found his story side-line very intriguing.
So you hinted that maybe Knull created the Necro sword, but what if like you said. Galactus forged the sword. And Knull saw the potential of the sword and stole it from him, or was given it by Galactus. Then, Gorr had his 'discussion' with Rupa and the sword chose Gorr to weild it becaise it believed he was or would be more effective at serving it's purpose than Knull. Who probably wanted it as a prop for intimidation.
A great video. Thor is now an adult God with the arrival of his ward.
Is there an ordered list of movies I need to watch to get this information naturally?
For me, the issue isn’t so much whether someone with power exists, or even that they have all that and do nothing with it. It’s more a matter of how they came to be in such a comfortable position and yet still do nothing, or nothing compared to what they’ve taken, at the very least. Living in a still Scamperial ruled nation, where it’s all about making the princes rich and powerful, simply for their own money and power’s sake… Oh, Superman, where are you now?
