  • In the first classic anglers were allowed 4 rods and 10 pounds of tackle. The boats went a blistering 35 mph with a tail wind. No power poles, no spot lock, no hi tec braid or floro, no graphite rods, no side imaging, no detailed down imaging, no mapping etc. etc. Things change. I say have some tournaments with and without FFS just to add variety and make it more interesting. He won because he found the best quality fish just like every previous champion. Everything was fair, everyone had same tech on their boat. He just made the right decisions to win. Great job!

    • There is no sport in this anymore. Imagine deer hunting when your deer all have GPS trackers on them or a IR system that scans the entire woods. How about golf tournaments that allow Goggles to show ball flight before the ball is hit.

  • If A-Rig companies were throwing advertisement money into these tournaments like the electronics companies, they’d still be legal to use in tournaments.

    • A rigs should be legal in tournaments anyways. Do a 2 or 3 hook limit. You’ll still have no less than 3 less barbed points on them, than any hardbody treble hook bait on anybody else’s boat. 🤷🏽‍♂️

    • @@HawgWyldFishing the hooks weren’t the reason they did away with them. Here’s a direct copy from a magazine. Read this article and tell me what’s the difference in the A-rig and FFS. FFS gives a much bigger advantage. (Basically, B.A.S.S. said the Alabama Rigs make it too easy for the pro anglers to catch fish. The Elite Series Rules Committee members “believe the rig eliminates some of the skill that should be required in tournament competition at the highest level,” according to the B.A.S.S. news release.)

It has nothing to do with the amount of hooks. Give me the FFS sonar setups these pros are running and give any other average fishermen all the A-Rigs he can use and I’ll sure compete against him for money.

    • @@slabbusterrtr7690thats just the thing though . In 1984 Hank would have had to use it or get left far behind. Pros nowadays have to use it . The reliance on that single technology is out of hand. Ffs is without a doubt the primary weapon in tournament bass fishing. Not the knowledge of seasonal patterns, weather conditions affect on bass or the talent of working a particular lure. Its all about seeing fish in real time now. Tournaments today is more like a lottery. The winner is the one who drops that transducer on the right group of bass. Im not taking anything away from Hamner, his transducer found the right group and all other competitors didnt.
