  • Hey Jason. I have been retired for twelve years. When I did I sold my skeeter, and stoped fishing local and club tournaments in South Louisiana and Missing. I have since moved to Hattiesburg, Ms into a subdivision with five man made small impoundments the are duly stocked, including Florida strain bass. I bought a 2009 tracker tournament V17. I changed out the Lowrance unit to a striker 7 sv on the bow and a striker 9 sv on the console. However, when the prices came down the echo map UHD 93sv’s I purchased 2 of them and replaced the other units. I will have to wait till next year to buy the forward facing sonar. Your video helped me understand how to adjust the settings to give the clearest view on the screen. Thanks, I enjoy all your how to videos.

    @williamschneider6811@williamschneider68118 ай бұрын
  • The signal is always the same. All that changes is what’s reflected / filtered on your screen. Adjusting your gain, noise, TVG, etc. It doesn’t change the actual sonar but instead just changes what you see on the screen. But it doesn’t run “Hotter”

But the power cable that comes with the black box has 14 gauge wire. So I don't quite understand that. Even Garmin recommends using 10 gauge wire but why do they Supply such small power wires with the unit

  • On my Hobbie pedal drive kayak I have an echomap ultra 106sv, steady cast, LVS34 system all powered by a Amped Outdoors 32ah16.8v lithium battery. I did all wiring & rigging myself. My voltage is exactly same at my units as directly off my battery. I ran a 8aw marine grade wire from my DIY battery box in back behind my seat, down inside the haul aof my kayak up to the front hatch to a Blue Sea dual bus bar. The from bus bar to each of my units with factory cords & fuses. I have 16.8v at all my units & that single battery will run everything about 13-15 hours on average. My screen clarity has always looked great.

    • @@cjnugent4102 i would recommend the 32ah 14.8v lithium for sure! Its basically same size as the 30ah it's 4"wide x 5" tall x 6" long. It fits inside a plastic ammo can I turned into my battery box & takes up about 2/3rds of the space. It runs the lvs34 a 10" echomap Ultra & the steady cast heading sensor for two 7hour days on average. If you don't run everything the whole time like for example turning off the lvs34 or turning off the other transducer when you're not using them it will increase that run time significantly.Its an awesome battery, super small & light. Wouldn't ever hurt to go bigger either of course. If I were to buy another. I would buy the 32ah again.

    • Amp Hour (ah) determines your run time. Higher voltage will not improve run time or image quality. been proven on all the forums by the experts. To see what ah lithium you need, multiple total draw times the hours you want it to run. Example: 106sv and Black box draw 3 amps. 3a x 10hours run time = 30ah battery.

      @ZZ430T56@ZZ430T568 ай бұрын
    • @@ZZ430T56 I know that, I wasn't saying my higher voltage gave me more run time, that's not possible! I was just saying how I set up my kayak & what size ah battery I had, what units were connected , & voltage my battery was. And if wired properly with correct gauge wire & connections. You should have same voltage at the units as the battery. Many people use way to small gauge wire or even marine grade wire which is a big mistake, & to easy to avoid

    • The thicker gauge has less voltage drop over longer distances than thinner wire. A better idea is to put the battery closer to the unit. Shorter the wiring harness the better the voltage. Less drop in voltage. Clean power makes a difference with Garmin. I'm not sure about Lowrance or Hummingbird.

I just find it kinda sad! Jason has such an edge fishing on instinct (before spot lighting)! I don’t care what anyone says, Scoping has Fd up the sport! Of course Jason is sponsored by Garmin, and he knows that you have to get with the program or get left behind! In my mind, true instinctive angling will keep regressing with this video game BS! Once viewership tanks because of spotlighting, hopefully it’ll be banned from Elite events!?

    • It’s here to stay in my opinion. I don’t have strong feelings one way or the other surrounding the debate. They have to figure out another way to make the sport more interesting to the spectators.

    • He won the classic because he is a top notch pro ,,, a livescope is just a tool I would put Jason against any person in this forum hands down ,

  • How is this great? This technology is too good. What happens as this gets more affordable and everyone is using it? Is it really fishing then, or just catching? The bass and other species stocks are going to take a huge hit when this gets popular and affordable. Pros using this in tournaments is a huge problem as well. Has anyone watched MLF or the Elite series on TV when they are using forward facing sonar? It is like watching paint dry! All you see is a bunch of guys on the bow of their bass boats watching their screens all day. This technology should be banned! This is video game fishing. It isn't fun! I don't blame Jason for this. Garmin is one of his sponsors. He has no choice but to promote this crap.

    • It already is affordable. It’s 1500 dollars. It’s the cheapest thing in bass fishing. Fishing with live is way more fun than fishing without it especially for smallmout

    • In other words, you are catching instead of fishing. That isn't fun. People are generally lazy, so I can see why they like it. @@devinwillis7787
