In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Nick not having a reflection is perfect.
I missed that. Where was it?
8:50 Now time to rewatch the entire thing and see if nick always doesn't have a reflection
Your comment made me pay attention to his intro scenes and now I'm sad they didn't remove his reflection when he's treading through the water there
@@TheArQu His reflection is also missing in Ep. 1 w/ the hula hoop over Gary the Gorilla task.
@@ExSuPiO1 Unless he actually doesn't have a reflection and they edited it *into* that scene... O.o
That shot of Dracula entering the field? Majestic. The DRAMA.
The shot of Dracula scurrying out of the field? Not so much.
Like a shot from El Conde or something
Big pride and prejudice vibes
@@erinford8138 He's a complicated guy!
8:28 You don't mean that shot? Nice work post-production... I'm not aware that any movie ever used anything but a mirror to show, that vampires have no reflection -- nicely done
I think it's cool that they validated that they didn't spike someone who is sober.
Even so, I'm surprised that they didn't go for the standard TM issue Ribena...or just "red water"!
They make note of these sorts of things and cater to them. Russell Howard and Lee Mack both were given substitutes for animal products in food-related tasks out of respect for their lifestyles.
@@PokerJoker811except for the wallet lol
@@somerandom3257 Plastic. That's what Alex said in the episode, at least.
@@somerandom3257 i dont think he ate the wallet.
“Why should they be all gappy and vacant?” Immediately Alex Horne smiles and waves at the camera. What a guy
'cause Alex has a gap in his front teeth. No hate, so do I
@@KrovaSteamI think he was still waving at the grannies
One of the most deranged prize task rounds in ages. "Welcome to Taskmaster, this section is about grandmothers!"
So glad Greg had the same take on this as I did.
Lmao they really said "You give me a stereotypical sweet innocent grandma but I raise you my sexy, hoot of a granny"
The grills should have won, imagine that nursing home drip
"i didn't realize my r stood for relapse" is golden. its a nice thought from TM that they didn't *actually* put alcoholic rum in there.
I suppose it's a nice thought every time they don't pointlessly endanger a contestant's life. They still should have gone for something else. The only criterion was starting with R. Non-alcoholic often doesn't mean 0% alcohol, and even so, many sober alcoholics stay well away from alcohol flavours that get them back in their addiction head space. So it really was the barest of bare minimums.
Ribena would also have been a really good choice since that is both non-alcoholic and starts with R. I’m glad that Alex had the foresight not to give his alcoholic friend actual rum, but I agree with Valerie’s point that safer options were available
They seem to be pretty sensitive to dietary restrictions, like having vegan/vegetarian alternatives for food guessing tasks
They probably got a little more cautious after Lee Mack bit into the leather wallet (I can't remember if he also ate some egg at some point)
@@VirtuaLamb Yep, that happened - in the same task, no less! I hope they got more cautious for sure.
Moment of silence for Steve for making a callback to the granny potion and not getting the response he deserved
Alex got it though !!!!
His callback was so underrated, glad someone else spotted it too. It caught me off guard a bit that he sounded like Mick in Last night of the proms with the 'get off my land/scary farmer' bit. 😂😅
"I think we should go and see other clocks". Sounds like a break-up 😅
Look, it's just.... with the clock on my phone now, I just don't think we make sense anymore.
Considering how well they got along, it was about time.
8:50 Look at the reflection in the puddle! Good eye, editors!!
I didn't notice this. That's great!
The editing in this show is always amazing, but that was extra. Above and beyond.
OMG, I completely missed that during the broadcast (I'm otherwise completely enthralled with Nick!), so thanks for the timestamp!
@@MadcapShambleton Pun intended?
Holy fucking shit! Amazing! Now I'll be looking at all further episodes for reflections!
John acknowledging Sophie's illustration was superior to his was unexpected & a genuinely nice moment! One of the things I love about this series is that despite being in competition, the contestants are so supportive of each other.
They're opponents but not enemies! I love this show so much
Yes, exactly. Even when the occasional rivalry pops up, they're all generally friendly & supportive. I initially checked out this show because of a few comics I recognized, & every single season I discover more talented, funny personalities that I would never have known otherwise. And it's not like it's a super high stakes show, so most contestants just have fun with it. I'd love for a "Second Chances" edition - similar to the "Champion of Champions" version, but for all the runner ups. We'd get to revisit favorite performers, & see how they get on with a different round of players!@@petercarr7391
Yes, that's it exactly. The various casts tend to be helpful with each other, even when playing up a rivalry. Many different elements come together to make this show a hit (& highly rewatchable!), but the supportive nature of the contestants is a nice change of pace to the overly competitive vibe (real or for camera) present in a lot of game & reality programs. @@petercarr7391
How, after 16 seasons, is this show still so AMAZING!?! Thank you, Taskmaster, for all of the laughs!
Because it is intelligent and self aware! 🎉
it also has to last 25 seasons to have the champions of champions of champions
UK calls them series, not seasons
@@StanleyKubick1 I’m aware…I’m a huge fan. I was having trouble with the plural of series, so I reverted to the American word. Serieses? Series’s? Series’? Only my English teacher knows, and she’s been dead for years.
@@kellyheidel4337according to Google the plural is “series” but at one times was “serieses”. I was going to guess “seri” but I would have been very wrong. I think I’ll stick to using the American terms also.
There was no hesitation at all in the "Slot Drop". Just absolutely wonderful.
I assumed it was something Greg made up to be derogatory, but Sophie definitely showed no hesitation in demonstrating for us!
it's slutdrop
slut-drop, not slot drop, and Sophie said it first. Nor was it made up.
Its "Slutdrop".
@@secretforreddit it's 'slut drop', not 'slot drop' and it's a thing, a VERY recognizable term to anyone under 70 who doesn't live in an Amish settlement 😂
“Stop the clock?” Yes, you did
8:30 nick doesn't have a reflection again!! editing team killing it
I somehow only noticed it in this episode. Delighted knowing they've been doing this all through the series.
Sorry but when John Robins started talking about his friendship with the lady next door I swooned
It always pays to befriend your older neighbors, because they will greatly appreciate your friendship.
@@jero37 Best neighbor I ever had, the sweetest old lady down the hall. She spent a lot of time sitting on the front step of our old apartment building just sipping coffee and being nice to everyone who lived in the building, chatting when we came in. She gave us a big hug and we all cried a bit together when we moved out; love you, Kathy.
"We didn't know the horses would be there..." LOL
… on five separate days of taping.
@@q-tuber7034No, they film them all back to back, usually either the same day or within one day of each other. In some tasks you can actually see the sun is lower in the sky for certain contestants just because they started filming late.
@@chrismanuel9768 From the podcast: they schedule around the contestants’ availability, and a typical day of production involves a single contestant performing a full day of tasks. Except on team task days (generally a full day for the team), there is never more than one contestant on site at a time. You may notice that sometimes different contestants will have different weather when performing the same task.
one of the horses had a very clear brand on it, so they, at the very least, were not wild horses

you actually can be numerically dyslexic. It's called Dyscalculia
Yes! I have it too.
No that's who Nick is dressed as.
Which it does not appear Joanne McNally actually has, but possible future contestant Cariad Lloyd does.
@@Typhoon860LOL
She's just daft though
I love that Nick got a laugh for just being on screen in the first task lol
It was because his reflection was edited as he is dressed as a vampre
@@Katortainment I think they use every chance they get to do that. So far, it's just been Gary's Hoopla and the Hands, but at this point I'd be surprised if they didn't make a point to do it all the time.
Because that's the first time the studio audience has seen his vampire costume.
Sophie is a comedic gold mine! And also so supporting and friendly to the other contestants ^^
She is also robbed! Her price task deserved 5 points, her cow was far better than John's snail but John still got 5 points because he is Greg's favourite.
@@merty5713 The task was best and biggest, John's snail was huge which makes it worthy of 5 points as well
She's my favorite. I can't even explain it to myself, but I just love her.
I love when there are two losers who get to bond with each other over being at the bottom, reminds me of Asim and Alice from series 6.
Also Mark and Nish… but only if you go by Nish declaring they are ‘Loser’s Corner’ since Mark was leading for a lot of the series
I really expected the twist in the connect the dots task to be that the number pads would be secretly horse treats.
I was thinking exactly the same!
That’s genius 😂
I was thinking they would all have numbers on the back and when they connected them in order, it would just be a jumbled mess
Nick might be somewhat inept, but on the other hand he's such a lovely human. it's all fine.
can’t hear the word inept without thinking of rosalind is a nightmare
Nick could kill a person and sa “oh sorry” and I would forgive him
No no, Nick's potion wasn't to stop grandmothers dying, it was to make sure they died peacefully. Which really makes me wonder what was in the bottle.
I'm really rooting for John this season. Not because he is my favorite contestant, just because he really looks like he needs a win in his life rn
Is there something going on in his life? I'm having a hard time finding him like-able as someone unfamiliar.
@@Roysorb I googled all the contestants after they were announced and it just seems like he had some bad relationships. Used to date Sarah Pascoe but broke up in 2017, then was engaged to Coco Fennel but called it off in 2021. He seems distressed on a lot of his standup material, but maybe he just plays it up I'm really not that familiar with his comedy. Dude has been sober for 2 year now tho so maybe things are looking up
I feel like Greg is *genuinely* fond, if not smitten with Nick. Like, he's quite soft on him, it's very precious.
I feel for John in this one. You can tell he’s genuinely worried about relapsing. I wish they had used ribena or raspberries or anything else starting with r just to stay away from the topic altogether. Some recovering/former alcoholics may be fine drinking non-alcoholic versions of things but some may not be. Idk just not the best choice, imo.
Agreed. Other things start with R. It didn't even have to be liquid.
Agreed
I agreed. I felt the panic and was frustrated with Greg and Alex’s laughter.
Some of the previous contestants have said that they have final say on whether more personal things are included in the episode or not (e.g. Sarah when she said about her exes dislike of her singing). So, John would have been OK with them including it which to me makes it seem like he's playing up the concern to add to the relapse punchline
@@Jack-ww9ge very well could be. Thanks for letting me know, I wasn’t aware of that.
"One of our highbrow tasks." 😂
I think this may be a contender for the wildest prize task in the show's history
Nick has the sweetest face.
Did anyone notice that when Nick walks in the first time for the task, the ediotrs have removed his reflections from the puddle? (With him being a vampire and all haha). What attention to detail and commitment to a joke! (37:40)

@@ilonad4907 8:26 too
I noticed they did that in the first episode too. Great attention to detail by the editors
That is bloody amazing!
@@smlozer I wonder what other easter eggs are sprinkled in throughout the whole series
As a reminder, in regards to the witty banter, Alex has once "admitted" during the witty banter to have stolen a car. Don't ask me what season/episode it was.
He even said it was a recent theft
John's stare at Greg when he says that he's disqualifying those who've still got tissue on the tube was spectacular lol
Never stop. I'm hanging on for series 100. This is the most perfect television show ever conceived!
If it goes up to 125, we could have a tournament of the champion of champions of champions
I so hope that balloon-oboe moment from alex and greg was not planned the way they looked at each other was so,ehow so wholesome
I thought Steve’s dot-to-dot was Gollum on a rock! 😂😂😂
I thought it was Mr. Blobby...
Can I request now for a Taskmaster Special with the contestants Nick Muhammed, Nian Kumar, Mark Watson, Mel Giedroyc, and Mike Wozniak? Because I would watch those five delightful people reenact Bargain Hunt all day.
Even after the insanity of Lucy, Sam, Julian, Sue and Susan this show still delivers! 😂
Joanne to Alex "I think you're just a fish out of water wherever you are. Right." Perfect and relatable. 😅
Oooooh, I really liked this episode. There was so much "classic" puzzle solving, which I love. Before this season started, I wasn't familiar with any of these contestants (I might have had a vague recollection of one or two of their faces), but they've all endeared themselves to me now.
“A Balloon or an Oboe” could have made a decent episode title
You're killing me with this tension
What are you doing two days early on the video?
@@thavrisco1632 just being awesome.
Like Joanne McNally?
@@thavrisco1632That's when they posted the "Video To Premiere", I believe.
@thavrisco1632 Probably commented on it during the premiere before it started
I love that the show is removing Nick's reflection in the water in some scenes. Him shaking hands with Alex and only seeing Alex in the reflection really adds to the absurd surreal nature of the show. "Chef's kiss!" I had a feeling before the season began that Sophie would be my favorite (based on past things I've seen the contestants in), with Joanne being my expected second favorite, and they are both holding on tight in those positions. Both were so funny and perfectly outrageous today! "I have number dyslexia. I'm tapping out." LOL I know the feeling.
I love how Alex will always be known as little Alex horne even when the person is way shorter 😂
„My kids call me Little Alex Horne by now“
OMG Steve and Nick are the cutest team ever. Just adorable!
Awesome. Sophie’s interpretive dance with the loo roll was SO good! All of these people are just great - love this series!
episode 4 and I still laugh when Nick first enters the scene in his dracula costume! (also how can it be episode 4 already?! It's only just started!!)
Sophie definitely earned either a bonus point or a negative point at the start of the show.
The wit of "let's see what's inside no 9" deserves so much credit 😂
This might have been one of my favorite stage tasks of all time, I loved the absolute chaos of it and it all falling apart.
So glad y’all make it public access on KZhead !
Mr Sparrow as a What We Do In The Shadows dropout in the thumbnail is just too good
Mr Swallow :)
Alternatively, the characters from WWDS but forced to take part in Taskmaster.
41:27 alex finally learned how to yell, so proud of him
Usually it's the contestants that make me laugh out loud but Alex saying "No, and there were land mines" at 23:54 cracked me up
This episode should have been named 21:17 Creaming over their easels.
Can't wait to see the outtake from Greg's opening.
Contestants ABSOLUTELY understood the prize task, and showed up. Amazing. I 100% believe greg was unsure what to do.
Having Greg Davies be the person shaking hands during the hands task would be great.
The moment with Greg holding his nose (which I shan't spoil) is one of the best "TM out of context" moments of all time
I hate to admit it, but the Bargain Hunt bit at the end really got me. I now want to see Taskmaster doing Bargain Hunt. More than anything.
Non alcoholic rum could still be quite catastrophic if you cannot drink alcohol.
I would've done Root Beer, but then I'm American.
@@jero37 Ribena was also an obvious one and they've used that before.
@@jero37The issues is that John Robins could be triggered by the alcohol taste, even if it's non alcoholic drink. He had problems with alcohol consumption for years. He could easily relapse. The procuction should've avoided all real or fake alcoholic drinks. Many other things start with r.
@@-notmycat I fully understand, root beer would have been a beverage starting with R, and there would've been no concern of relapse related things.

The lack of a reflection at 8:27 seems intentional this time. Absolutely lovely.
OMG brilliant! Good eye!
I never would’ve guessed rum if I was told it wasn’t alcoholic. Like I’m glad they didn’t give John alcohol but that’s confusing AF 😂
It's pretty neat how they get rid of Nick's reflections!
John Robins is swell based on his prize task. Nick is very likeable in general.
8:30 Nick's reflection vanishes once more! The editing staff is amazing.
Sophie twerking was hysterical! 🤪
every season i think they cant top this then they do lol
I was really hoping the second task would be a double “Ride this horse on the dot-to-dot picture.”
I thought that’s where they were going with that task too!!
Another channel where ONE thumbs-up is simply inadequate. INADEQUATE I SAY!
the horses made me so nervous lmao the contestants kept wandering within perfect kicking range
Alex just shouting “PORK” had me cry laughing
Thank you very much for posting these so quickly.
The creativity of the split task is my favorite, the clue about the wording based on the numbers on the back is pretty abstruse. Obviously deliberately, I guess at this point in the show's history everyone knows to check sneaky places. I wonder if it'll get to the point there's a reputation for those clues being too much of a brain teaser and contestants will stop bothering and then we'll have a super obvious thing again that will shock everyone.
Kudos to the editing team :) The subtle things you lovely folks do - just incredible. (The missing reflections 😍)
**sigh** I opened this fully thinking today is Thursday....and then I see "premieres in 45 hours" and realise that it's only just Wednesday 😩😩😭😭🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
The word for "numerical dyslexia" that Joanne is looking for is dyscalculia. It's a real thing.
I've love this series for a couple of years now, keep them coming. 😆
My favorite line in all 17 series "You're all genuinely weird." I am still laughing lol
This episode got genuine laughter from me, thank you taskmaster.
Steve carrying Nick by the hand like he's his fourth child and they're going trick-or-treating 😍😍

4 episode, and all contestant feel like dear friends i love very much! Joy of taskmaster 🥰
It’s SO FUN to see what people do now that the show has gone on. “Always look on the back of the task.” Always look under the table. Can you move the red green or the red dot? There’s so many cool things.
I like Sophie's jacket! While seated, it just looks kinda flow-y, but while on stage during the final task and moving around, it was mesmerizing!
Thank you for putting theses episodes on iTube. I am from Canada and love this show so much!!
The half-task reminded me very much of the Series 9 “Dehumanizing” multi-part team task, in which Greg compared Jo & David to Bargain Hunt as well. I love both of those tasks, they’re like a treasure hunt :)
Well Sophie is even more amazing that I could have imagined 😅
I don't love Mr. Swallow but absolutely love Nick!
Yeah same here. I usually skip his bits on Cats Does Countdown but I enjoy him as an actor and on things like this.
It baffles me to see how Sophie Wilian and Diane Morgan look alike. Considering they come from the same place, are both comedians, have relatively similar features, same hair colour and the exact same accent, I'll just assume from now on that all inhabitants of Bolton, Greater Manchester, come from the same mold
This show never gets boring omg 😂
Wish there was Common People Task Master. I would apply for it in 30 seconds.
