    • It's a win-win situation: and ad to the restaurant that appeal to the masses that it's worth it to dine in high quality restaurant, especially after all covid ordeal - people like good food and are willing to pay for it, but because of current economic situation ate picky to were to spend their expenses... And it's a good content for the show, that centers itself around tasting food! Sure, Keith might not always be honest about he liked or not (considering he doesn't like fragrant stuff, has to sensitive tongue and came up with tomato soup flavoured macarons), but it's definitely better than eating entariety of McDonald's or Taco Bell.

    • I think that part of it too is that many of these fancier restaurants operate on a tasting menu, where the idea is that you're expected to eat everything on the menu over the course of a meal and so they can plan accordingly. At normal restaurants, the assumption is that you order one to four things (either just a main meal or, at most, an appetizer, main course, side, and dessert) and they want to make sure you leave not only full but often with leftovers to take home.

  • YB and her veggie journey reminded me of a conversation my husband and I had recently. He and his coworkers had been talking about how picky children get as they get older, and his coworkers said something about how impossible it is to get their children to eat veggies. But our children LOVE veggies, especially anything green. My oldest will legitimately turn down whatever meat or carb we’re having and eat an entire plate of roasted asparagus or sautéed brussels sprouts. I recalled DETESTING basically all veggies and a lot of fruits growing up, especially green beans, because my parents always tried to force me to eat warmed canned green beans. I couldn’t handle the texture-I would gag or even throw up. But now they’re one of my favorite foods because my husband sautés them, sometimes dressing them in delicious spices, oils, and sesame seeds. It made us realize that most children hate vegetables probably because they only receive them over-boiled or steamed to mush. Of course they don’t want to eat that! Makes me especially grateful for my husband, who spent a decade in restaurants before switching careers. Marry someone who knows their way around a kitchen, y’all. 😂

  • After the Watcher announcement, I wonder how the Try Guys are doing financially. I’ve been afraid to point this out but it is obvious the videos are not doing as well as they used to. These days the highest number of views this channel can get is 1 million which are mostly Keith’s food stuff and even their most popular show, Without a Recipe, didn’t do as well as the earlier seasons. I just wonder if they’re making enough money especially with a big office.

    @Moiyikyoi@Moiyikyoi28 күн бұрын
    • Conservatively estimating, they make ~200k/month from Patreon alone, not factoring in paid sponsorships, views, merch, etc. I hope that’s enough that they’re doing okay, and if not I hope they don’t make a similar goofy-ass decision to Watcher

    • They have said on the podcast (especially Zach) that they are less concerned these days with getting views and more concerned with making stuff that matters/is fun to them. They've said clearly views have to be considered to some extent because they have people working for them that depend on them, but that they're more doing it for themselves than the numbers. I admire that.

      @user-meow493@user-meow49327 күн бұрын

  • It's been wild to watch Keith grow as an artist and food reviewer. I love this evolution of Eat the Menu. I was anticipating Keith getting food drunk at these high class restaurants (which would have been hilarious too) and I love that he's taking such a professional approach to these menus.

    @NinjaNerdOG@NinjaNerdOG27 күн бұрын
  • I've had the opportunity to eat at several Michelin star restaurants over the years (including 3 star restaurants The Connaught and Core in the UK), and the difference between those restaurants and regular ones is the presentation and attention to detail. It feels like you are eating art - everything is so precisely placed and has a definitive purpose as part of the overall dish. With that being said, based on taste alone, I think I would prefer Korean Fried Chicken (and I am being 100% serious). I think I'm too much of a boor to really appreciate fine dining and the only reason I have ever had an opportunity to eat at these restaurants is because of my job. The service is also on a whole other level - there are often more staff than there are diners, and everything runs like a well oiled machine. One place even mailed me a thank you card and small gift after dining there. Is it worth the price? (in some instances, a $1000 plus for the full tasting menu and wine) Not in my opinion. But it is an experience that you won't forget.
